How Australia could steal the tax revenue of Malaysia?

Sir Hii Yii Ann (right) and estranged wife, Lady Dr Beh Soo Hian (left)

This sort of issue resembling neo-colonisation would have annoyed Tun Dr Mahathir.

More so, it involves Australia, in which he had a famous row with then Australian PM, Paul Keating calling him recalcitrant.

Mahathir is obsessed to finish off Dato Najib that his focus will not get diverted by other issues.

For a fact, he is collaborating with neo-colonisation agents in the form of George Soros, Rupert Murdoch and foreign hands behind Bersih demonstration. In London recently, he ran down Najib in the presence of foreign press.

He is so focused that he will run down anyone supporting Najib, including bloggers that stopped supporting him, using childish labeling of makan dedak. He questioned feudelism but insist on blind loyalty of a feudel chief.

It is unfortunate that Mahathir will miss out on an interesting lawsuit by a Malaysian against the Australian government for demanding tax on his Malaysian income.

Residents of Australia are required to pay for income earned abroad but Yii Ann insisted his domicile and Tax Resident of Malaysia.

The Australian Federal Court insisted he is a Tax Resident of Australia despite acknowledging issues raised questioning his Australian residency status.

The case is up for mention today in Kuala Lumpur and The Mole has the report here.

Sir Hii Yii Ann, knighted in 2007 by the Queen of England, is a Malaysian businessman from Sibu, Sarawak with business interest in Malaysia, PNG, Philippines, Hong Kong and Australia.

He is likely to be related to the Foochow family controlled PLC, Ta Ann Berhad.

In his affidavit, he claimed to maintain his domicile in Malaysia. His residential address is in Singapore. However, his family and children lives in Brisbane and study in Australia.

Yii Ann insist his business and living arrangement remained in PNG and Malaysia. His work is in Singapore and PNG, And, he holds a work permit in PNG, Non-Immigrant Visa in Philippines and Australia Sub Class 155 Visa.

Yii Ann is questioning the decision by the Supreme Court in March this year in favour of the Australian Tax Authorities (ATO) for declaring he has abandoned his Malaysian domicile.

Consequently, court upheld the decision of ATO to change his Tax Residency Status from Malaysia to Australia for the years of assessment 2001 to 2009 and slap him with a tax bill of A$60 million.

ATO is seeking a court order to force sell his properties in Australia, PNG and elsewhere. [Read The Courier Mail dated April 2016 here]

Yii Ann argued that he has declared himself as a Tax Resident of Malaysia thus the ATO action and decision by the Australian court is in breach of the International Tax Treaties and the Dual Taxation Agreement 1980 between Malaysia and Australia (referred to as "tax treaty").

Yii Ann insisted and backed it with documents to show he continued to live outside of Australia and did not travel much to Australia, especially after permanent separation from his wife in 2002. His business hardly takes him to Australia

From a non-legal and non-taxation expert view, it would have implication on Malaysians with family in Australia but living, working and paying tax in Malaysia.

There are sizeable number of Malaysians with such living arrangement and at one time, Australia encouraged economic migration to attract investment.

Any person with country losing ownership over the local indigenous medicinal aphrodisiac of Tongkat Ali due to international Intellectual Property.

If the Malaysian court upheld the decision of the Australian court, it mean Malaysia could lose tax revenues at the whim and fancy of the Australian tax authority to nullify the Tax Residency of anyone setting foot into their country.

The tax treaty was signed before globalisation was the buzzword.

The tax audit by the Australian tax authority on Yii Ann coincide with public pressure on foreigners buying u00lp properties and allegedly jacking up prices beyond the affordable reach of local Australians. The Australian media have been nasty towards foreigners and reports have been sensationalising the case instead of highlighting the legal issue at stake.

As any businessman, Yii Ann has business interest in Australia in the form of investment in two properties in the CBD of Brisbane. After his separation in 2002, he put up for sale in 2005 and 2007.

It reminded how MARA Inc got caught in the mess with allegation of corruption for their property investment in Australia but looks likely meant to fix Dato Shafie Apdal. Politics should not make collateral damages of good intention to raise revenue to fund Bumiputera education.

Maybe Malaysians and Asians should start a campaign to "buy Australia last". It helps to remind Mahathir and family whose very at home in the colonial motherland and close with British these days of his "buy British last" policy.

Mahathir was a better person when he was conscience of neo-colonialism threat.

Why accuse Mahathir of messing up public transportion?

The two mamaks, Tun Dr Mahathir and Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim, have a common trait.

Whenever they accused anybody of anything, it is highly likely they are the bigger culprit and the accused did not do it but being blamed to cover their wrongdoing.

Mahathir's boys, including Dato Abdul Kadir Jasin wants to blame on the tight budget condition as Dato Najib causing economic failure.

But the blame of legacy issues inherited from the past administrations are placed on Najib's lap. If Pak Lah's problems is said by an insider require 15 years to address, Mahathir's will be forever.

The public transporation is a fine example KLites have to bear due to the mess that Mahathir made.

In the posting here, it was mentioned:
Public transport model in developed cities of the world kept fare low by giving rail owners oppurtunity to own development along the rail line.
If not for selfish interest to allow land grab by cronies in the past, public transport cost is relatively high, continually rising and not as convenient and significantly cheaper than private transportation mode.

Mahathir's public transportation was for self-interest thus the model is intentionally poorly conceived. It became a problem for rakyat and financial burden on public coffer till today.

His heart was never in it. He never cared for the common folks.

That is why his son, Mukhriz refused to address the low rubber prices of smallholders in Kedah. He only gave them beras, gula, garam and kopi.

To Mahathir, Melayu malas and genetically inferior thus needed tongkat. But he took advantage of the tongkat meant for the poor and those needing social uplifting.

So far, Najib has the political will to address the accumulated problems from the past on the rakyat. But Mahathir collaborate with opposition to stop and intend to bury him.

Mahathir calls effort to lessen and alleviate the daily hardship of rakyat as "makan dedak" and ridicule Najis as cash is king.

Give projects to his children, cronies and proxies, he will keep quiet or if you are lucky, he will praise to high heaven.

Lim Sian See wrote in his FB today that will send the factually and academically deficient "pemakan det-dak" screaming, "Dedak!":

There were four major KL public transportation projects initiated by Mahathir.
The four are:
1. KL Monorail line - The privatized monorail project was approved in a cabinet meeting June 1989. Its cost was then estimated at RM 143 million. When eventually completed and opened, it cost RM1.18 billion in 2003.
 - went bankrupt.
 - Bailed-out and taken over by the govt-owned Prasarana in 2007 for RM882 million.
--- 2. The Putra LRT line
- The privatized line started operations in 1998.
- went bankrupt.
- Bailed-out and taken over by the govt-owned Prasarana in 2002 for RM5,3 billion.
--- 3. The STAR LRT line
- The privatized line started operations in 1996.
- went bankrupt.
 - Bailed-out and taken over by the govt-owned Prasarana in 2002 for RM3.3 billion.
--- 4. Intrakota Bus Services.
- The privatized bus services started operations in 1998.
- went bankrupt.
 - Bailed-out and taken over by the govt-owned Prasarana in 2003 for RM177 million.
--- All four major KL public transportation projects initiated by Mahathir went bankrupt.
Penang Govt still want to spend RM46 billion (about RM19 billion of that will be borrowed) to build LRT and monorails for their 700,000 people on Penang Island (1.7 million overall for the state)?
Building it is one thing but the operations and yearly cost will be big - especially when your population size is small to begin with.

Those who end up paying will not be the DAP folks as they would be kicked out long before. It would be successive generations of Penang people straddled with the debt you put on to build it and the possible yearly operating losses which can be substantial.

Before the forever in-denial Kelab Che Det, who are now hypocritically supporting DAP and the sodomist party of PKR, scream "dedak", try improve their lack of intellect and factual deficiency in their argument by looking up in the history section of Wikipedia on Prasarana here.

It was dumb to use bank and institutional investors money to fund public transportation. This is not an after thoughts but the laughing stock of officers at Aseambankers decades ago.

Most likely the chicken brained "det-dak" eater will refuse to see the light. They are over-awed with Mahathir's pyramids as milestones of progress. And, are sold hook line and sinker to Mahathir's conspiracies and hate mongering of Datin Seri Rosmah.

Mahathir is their prophet thus "maksum" from any weakness and sin. It is unlike Najib who admit he is human, made mistake and apologise, even for the sins of Mahathir.

Right "mindset" for leadership and nation building

The above picture reminded us of last Monday's political debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

Trump campaign was negative and filled with salesman-styled propaganda and psyops. While, Hillary had relatively more substance and more right side mindset.

After all, the American media agreed she is the most ready candidate for the job of an American President.

Whether we agree to both or either one or neither, Trump had ideas only and no plans, but Hillary had ideas, strategy and plan laid out for scrutiny.

And some will agree and some will disagree, but it is obvious Trump versus Hillary has resemblance to Mahathir versus Najib, respectively.

Not that it matters for Hillary to win. Since Malaysians generally want Hillary to win, it is strange that some want Trump to win in Malaysia.

Those disagreeing will say Mahathir has built many pyramids in his 22 years of ruling Malaysia.

However, his experience and ideas is not in touch with the times and global condition. It is based on out-dated ideas of strong arm politics.

Mahathir is not in-sync with the times and thus not translated in his campaign against Najib. Read Citizen Declaration to understand.

Similar to Trump's single issue of e-mail against Hillary and lied on everything he said before, Mahathir only has 1MDB as issue, Rosmah to pick on, and the rest are all lies.

Several commentators concluded that Hillary came out the winner. Trump was only steady in the first 10-15 minutes and comfortable discussing economic issues.

There is no clear cut win on that subject because it is nothing new but age old ideological differences between Republican vs Democrats. It is century old debate with no winner.

Generally, it is agreed among political analysts that Trump was unprepared, unpresidential in behaviour, and lack the temperament of the CEO.

Trump goes shooting his mouth with the most hypocrit of statements, lies in his denials and claims he can make America great by doing things better but no specific plans towards nation building.

His attitude is all negative. See the similarity?

In his debate, Trump is not interested to come out looking Presidential with facts and plans but only to please and hold his position among white supremist and racist conservatives voters.

It is not exactly same with DAP as partners to PPBM, but there will be those agreeing on the similarity.

Hillary is not perfect and has her own flaws, but generally she embrace all the qualities on the right side of the picture to build a nation and not just the shallow self-interest of business and capitalist.

And that is not the qualities of Trump or Mahathir.

There is an opinion saying Trump does not care if Hillary is seen as the winner coming out of the debate.

The polls did not affected him and the outlook is still a toss-up. Same situation with Mahathir.

Mahathir has his own version of vilifying Mexican, Muslims, women, etc and building walls. He only cares that his pentaksub blindly follow and support. Those disagree he label as makan dedak.

When he was PM, he is dubbed as a nation builder but he does not have the right mindset as nation builder anymore.

Two weeks ago he ran down the country abroad in London to fulfill his greedy political quest. During his 22 years, he called those drying out dirty linen abroad for domestic political ambition as acts of betrayal. That we agree.

Expect the pentaksub to reponse with calls of dedak. It shows it is the truth and they have no credible answer.

Crossing the line

It is interesting that Rocky Bru here believed Bigdog had "crossed the line". A chance encounter Friday night will highlight further what it means.

Last Sunday, Bigdog had called upon Mukhriz to take a leave from his position as ANSARA President. [Read The Star here.] Too long for Mukhriz to not do much after coming out victorious from a leadership challenge many years ago.

MyKMU posting here justified the inconsistency in Mukhriz's suggestion to limit PM tenure but reluctant to give room for younger blood after more than 22 years. Though Secretary General gave a statement but Mukhriz speech had "crossed the line".

Helen Ang here did touched on the visible reasons why Mahathir "crossed the line" to justify Mahathir loyalist bloggers for leaving the man. There is more than only the two. Many do not trust  the real motive of Mahathir's current fight.

Bigdog has expressed himself here. to explain more why Mahathir "crossed the line" Extract below:
What is glaring about Tun Dr. Mahathir, he expects every person who had served him before to be continuously loyal to him perpetually regardless all the contradictions he does, what position he takes and even the about turns and he lines he drew but eventually crosses.

This include all the manipulation, exaggeration, lies, slander and even seditious statements the prime minister of  Malaysia for 22 years did to demonise as a strategy to topple Prime Minister Najib, openly for the past 18 months.

Disagreement opinion and position on any of these matters tantamount to disloyalty and damnation by him.
That could be why Mahathir U-turnned on his own words and positions.

It is dangerous and regressive for the bloggers to be associated with the hallucinating Kelab Che Det and pro-Toon's hero worshiping and cult following practises. It is bordering on idol worshiping.

This incident of Mahathir going so low to pick on bloggers is a repetition of the past.

In 2008, Mukhriz campaign for UMNO Youth leader was struggling and Mahathir stepped in to cut off the competition. He called Khir Toyo a competitor to his son corrupt.

And, a pro-Khir Toyo blog, http://cuitsikit.blogspot.my responded below:

Tun Mahathir Mahu Mencatur UMNO Lagi?

Najib bercakap mudah kerana beliau menang tanpa bertanding.

Tun jangan nafikan bahawa politik wang terbesar berlaku ketika Anwar Ibrahim menentang Ghafar Baba.

Khir Toyo's boys had been big supporters and activists for Mahathir throughout Reformasi dan fight against Pak Lah. They not only silently assisted his campaign to bring Pak Lah down but even financially assisted Mukhriz's struggling 2008 general election campaign.

All these are not appreciated when he need to lend his son, Mukhriz a hand. Is he the only son that Mahathir is willing to go so low to be protective?

Well, there are many more examples. So we return back to the chance encounter with a former Reformasi activist last Friday night.

The former Reformasi activist was aware of Mahathir's attack on bloggers Rocky Bru and Big Dog and the past incident with the MyKMU boys.

In this game, we know each other and who been making fake claims of their so-called cyber propaganda ability. There is nothing personal between us and we do not snitch on each other. It is so unlike the newbie players today.

The former Reformasi activist was the person that created the rumour that one of Mahathir's son wanted to commit suicide due to financial problems when Banks knocked on his door. He was building up on a bailout story.

There are  many bailout stories of Mahathir's children but too few publicly known. Even Mukhriz has his own bailout story.

The former Reformasi activist claimed Mahathir sent out the Special Branch to go after him. Mahathir may not realise of his existence but he claimed he was apprehended and interrogated in a manner he felts was more vindictive than other reformasi activist had to undergo.

It was rather puzzling as to how does such rumour affected national security. Market rumours are common happening in the opaque world of wheeling and dealing. Despite their talk of transparency and disclosure, it is all bull.

And, he said whenever anyone touch his childrren, Mahathir will go after you with vengence.

Serve him right we said to ourself. We told him, "Problem is you guys politicise into areas outside your expertise of only politics and got the information wrong."

Financial problem is true but he could have got a better deal. He claimed he was squeezed to sell at deep discount.

On the other hand, that argument may not be quite valid. When the Bank come knocking, maximising shareholders wealth is not a priority but immediate cashflow to tide through the crisis is a priority.

So we shared some bits that we know, "The financial problem may not be due to business but habit from personal indulgence that has gone awry.

"Can't confirm on the self abuse rumour but he was quite in a rutt. Heard he tried to get father-in-law to help but was refused and daddy's friends was forced to help out. Not sure if there is still a father-in-law."

Guess the name and details should be witheld. Mahathir could get personal and drag Rosmah but we shall not "cross the line" to drag someone not in politics into the political arena.

Why Shafie and PPBM implicate Anifah Aman? (Part 1)

$

0

President, Tan Sri Muhyiddin did the right move to appoint his people to important positions in PPBM; namely Dr Shahruddin Md Salleh, his former political secretary as Secretary General and former Maybank GM, Johorean Dato Salleh Bajuri as Treasurer.

Was telling a friend involved in PPBM few days ago that Tun Dr Mahathir could be the raft for Muhyiddin people to float on but his people are short in many departments.

That is what you get for atracting langau from among golongan kecewa. When he was PM, Mahathir had good people around him but his current set are of low calibre.

Their political narrative are poor on facts, shallow propaganda, and pure wayang. Imagine, public image of PPBM are Khairuddin and Anina

The latest effort to implicate Dato Anifah Aman into the Sabah Water scandal is another fine example.

It was started by a pro-Shafie Apdal blog and the mastermind behind this attempt was exposed by another Sabah blog, Anti Fitnah Sabah as Shafie's Strategic Communication Director, Ismail Bungsy.

The blog, https://jalinluin.wordpress.com was responding to public accusation made against Dato Shafie Apdal by recklessly accusing the Sabah Water Director is UMNO Kimanis Division Treasurer here.

It is found out that the Suluk sounding name, Jalin Luin is a Shafie diehard and openly proclaimed his allegiance on his blog on blogspot:

Without checking any further, PPBM activist and Mahathir staunch supporter, Dato Hamidah Osman and her sister, Hamizura promoted the fraudulent blog posting.

It is not too difficult to check the  current Treasurer, Datuk Rizal @ Raymond Godfrey Abdullah and Sabah Water Department Director are two different people. A simple google would have showed the Sabah blog is not telling the truth:

Yet they proceed to only apologise later.

That is how shallow, irresponsible and reckless the current  Mahathir diehard can be.

It is becoming a daily affair to hear politically just inspired PPBM members swear and curse in anger on various social media groups and Facebook. When they lack any argument to debate, they will burst to mull the word, "Dedak!"

Despite denial by Shafie that he was working together with Mahathir, probably out of fear being implicated with his Projek IC, this episode indicate they are working together. It is not far off to suspect Hamidah and Hamizura was tipped off by Shafie's people.

They may have intentionally allowed the damage from the lie to perpetuate first before making their apologies. Because despite being debunked, Jalin went on with a new spin.

This time the clerk at Felda Sahabat in Semporna claimed that his earlier posting was made to attract attention but the truth is the accused Director and Deputy Director were originally from Kimanis.

By that unconfirmed association, he presumed they are working to raise money for UMNO Kimanis Division Chief, Dato Anifah Aman.

That would mean Anifah has a 100% control of Kimanis that everyone works for his political interest. How come he did not win Kimanis uncontested?

At the same time, Ismaily Bungsu created another fictitious spin in which Semenanjung PPBM members perpetuated another lie on social media:

Nice try but game is over the moment your facts are wrong. Even if Anifah wanted to be corrupt, he does not have the opportunity to do so.

He is the Foreign Minister and surely water capital expenditure does not come his way. And he does not have the time to do so since he spend less than a week in Malaysia each month.

Anifah has denied:

Borneo Post reported on Anifah's statement here.

Shafie's people did a psywar strategy which was described by political analyst in the US media as "projection". Accuse others of one's own wrongdoing.

Donald Trump attempted to deflect his insults towards women by indirectly "projecting" Hillary as cheating on her husband. Mahathir and Anwar does a lot of "projection" game.

Shafie himself had done some "projection" on Sabah Chief Minister, Dato Musa Aman in the past. He used PKR operatives to play up Musa accepting political fund from a Sabah taukeh balak by the name of Michael Chia.

There was no case and both Hong Kong's ICAC and Malaysia's MACC exonerated him. It turned out Micheal Chia was Shafie's close friend/funder and the PKR operatives revealed Shafie as behind them.

The Anti Fitnah Sabah blog did not accuse and are not prejudicial against Shafie. They expressed the need for MACC to investigate and undertake the due process.

Why then are Shafie's boys in a state of panic or the Malay say, gelabah and his or new ally, Zainal Ajamain in a state of confusion?

This blog have highlighted it before but perhaps it is best to refer back to some old posting by Sabah Kini or their mirror sites.

There have been many grouses raised by the people in the Sabah interior on water problems. Money allocated but not delivered. Complain against KKLW can be found in abundance on the Internet.

For instance, on June 17, 2012, there is a statement by Citra Masadi, AMK Information Chief with regard to an allocated RM235 million rural water project for Sabah that was wasted by top-up abuses to alleged cronies of Shafie, Senator Datok Chin Su Phin and Datuk Peter Anthony for Tenom water projects.

KKLW Ministry official responded three days later.

On June 20, 2012, Head of Corporate communication, Meor Hafizan bin Abdul Ghani denied and claimed it is still on-going.

This brought about a strong and lengthy response on June 22nd from BN MP for Tenom, Datok Raime Unggai. He blasted KKLW officials for not being at the site and raised issue on abuses in the close tender process.

The problem must be so bad and openly abused that BN politician cannot defend their own Minister.

This could have certainly be part of the reason Sabahan public accused Shafie and in turn, Shafie's boys response with a "projection" towards Anifah Aman.

Sources informed this blogger that the poor delivery or more precisely, non-delivery of water projects for rakyat in the interior have been reported to various authorities including MACC as far back as 2010-2011.

Why did former MACC Chief and top officials not pursue it fast enough and the perpetrators only apprehended in 2016 after much neglect to the rakyat?

Lajim also called for probe on other state agencies here. Yes, but should probe first on rural roads, electricity, solar and telephony services for rakyat. However, Lajim should stop gambling before talking.

Now, Sabah Water Department falls under the Sabah Ministry of Infrastructure Development under Sabah Deputy Chief Minister, Tan Sri Pairin Kitingan.

His response yesterday was very official in nature. As advised by the civil servants, he will await report on the probe and the officers should explain themselves to MACC. And he reminded that all are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Borneo Post reported incriminating statement on KKLW. Extract below:
“I understand that this particular RM3.3 billion worth of federal projects is under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development, of which my ministry does not handle,” he said.

He said the allocations were directly channelled to the Sabah Water Department as the implementing agency without the Ministry’s knowledge.

The procurement of the projects as well as the payments were handled by the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development and the State Water Department, he added.
Why didn't FMT and MMO reported as above? Is it because former KKLW Minister is now with the opposition?

Shafie cannot continue to keep quiet. He should give a statement.

His response would be meaningful before continuing to Part 2 for the next posting on the water projects and tender process in Sabah.

In the meanwhile, read Seademon here.

Why Shafie and PPBM implicate Anifah Aman? (Part 2)

When news of the RM114 million seizure from the homes of Sabah Water Department (SWD) Director and his Deputy broke last Wednesday, question was asked as to why would someone keep so much money in the house.

One insider close to the case confided that it is a career-first to see more than RM40 million cash kept at home.

Another involved former Political Secretary to Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop but the amount pales in comparison.

The Star here reported the seizure include RM53.7 mil (RM45 mil from director's home and RM7.5 mil from deputy's), 127 land titles, luxury cars, watches, handbags, and jeweleries. Also being pursued are funds stashed abroad.

A friend first impression of the news, "This is surely a political slush fund. It is must be someone with a penchant for luxury and glamorous woman."

Issues and events are often quick to be politicised but in Sabah, it was cool for two days till statement by Tan Sri Pairin Kitingan on Friday.

He said the SWD was the implementing agency. However, procurement and payment of the RM3.3 billion infrastructure project was handled by the Ministry for Rural and Regional Development (KKLW) (read NST here).

That brought out a luke response from former KKLW Minister and now in the midst of setting up a new political party, Dato Shafie Apdal.

His response to Pairin:
PRESS STATEMANT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

8th OCTOBER 2016

It has cause me to respond towards the statement made by Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan concerning the awards of project amounting to RM3.3 billion in relation to the recent arrests of two state senior government officers. It was indicated that the project was awarded in 2010 during my tenure as the Minister in charge of the Rural and Regional Development Ministry. It was also indicated that the projects was not handle by his ministry. I would reserved my comment on this matter as I believe that we must not interfere or be seen to be interfering with the ongoing investigation by making public statements and plea of innocents so as to ensure that the integrity of the investigation by MACC is not compromise with.

It is quiet perplexing and amusing that the state authority are in a haste to plead their innocence publicly and diverting the blame to the Rural and Regional Development Ministry when the investigation by the MACC is still ongoing. Making such statements publicly seem to show that the state authority has no respect nor confidence towards the process of the investigation by MACC.

If so requested for me to assist in the investigation I am more than willing to cooperate and give my assistance in any manner that I can.

DATO' SERI HJ. MOHD SHAFIE BIN HJ. APDAL
MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT SEMPORNA
This blog wrote earlier of sources claiming Shafie has already RM200 million for his new party.

Raimi Unggi's blast

It remained fairly tame till MP for Tenom, Dato Raimi Unggi passed a stinging remark on Saturday.

Daily Express used his quote "Impossible Shafie did not know" as headline.

Where Lajim called for investigation of all state agencies, Raimi called on MACC to pursue their investigation to the Federal ministry level. [Read The Star here].

For years, Raimi have been taking up issues on the poor delivery of water and other rural infrstructure projects to his constituency.

It can be found in abundance in Sabahkini portal throughout 2011 till 2013. Some of the video below:

One can look up for more in Sabahkini mirror site here.

Sources said the attack by Sabahkini was raised by Shafie in cabinet meeting. One cabinet colleague suggested to sue but he has since not done so.

Raimi's reaction can only be expected. He was then under pressure from the local PKR whose been taking up the issue and it could jeopardise his position in the constituency.

For quite sometime, State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister, Datuk Masidi Manjun had raised on the abuse and flaw in federal projects.

He felt state should be involved to monitor and control of projects [Daily Express here]. The Shafie side response was to accuse Musa as corrupted, thus the reason he framed Musa in the past.

Raimi's attack got Shafie out from an earlier reserve disposition. Shafie called for PC on Sunday and slammed finger pointers.

"It’s not logical if the tender came from my ministry, but the money was found in the state department," he said. [read FMT here]

Shafie accused Pairin for making politically motivated statement.

Other than KKLW, federal fund for rural water projects could come from Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry (KETTHA) and PM Department.

Shafie claimed the National Audit Department certified his Ministry had achieve 95% of target in their 2015 report. [Read Star here]

However, Daily Express here reported sources within SWD claimed 60% of all water projects got siphoned away.

It supports past allegations by Raimi towards KKLW.

Tender manipulated?

A link received lead to an anonymous blog, Captain M. It contained useful information on the project, tender process, project management and other expose.

According to the blog, SWD is the highest revenue collection department for Sabah with 2016 figure at RM220 million.

They receive allocation from state and federal government via KKLW or KETTHA

KKLW provides for Bekalan Air Luar Bandar (BALB) projects. The bulk of the RM3.3 billion water infrastructure projects raised by MACC were allocation from KKLW.

KKLW is a recipient of substantial budget. For RMK 9, 10 and 11, their allocations are RM17.59 billion, RM28.4 billion, and proposed RM49.47 billion, respectively.

There is also allocation for rural NKRA program for 2010 to 2013 amounting to RM17 billion.

The list from Treasury proves the existence of rural water project by KKLW, below:

Distrust

Since 2011, there have been a strain in relation between Shafie and Sabah CM, Dato Musa Aman.

Musa distrusted Shafie and insisted fund meant for water and other rural projects be channeled to state treasury and managed by the state.

However, at the insistence of Shafie, KKLW refused and insisted to manage and control the fund.

In response, local district officers were instructed by Musa to not implement and cooperate in KKLW projects.

To get around, KKLW moved the projects through the Bahagian Pembangunan dan Pemantauan Projek Cawangan Negeri Sabah KKLW.

Allocation for the projects was handled by a Federal Financial Officer for Sabah or Pegawai Kewangan Persekutuan Sabah.

In the absence of District Offices, KKLW agencies such as Felcra and Risda was assigned to verify and confirm completion of water projects to expedite payment.

These agencies deals with agriculture and land development but are functioning as District JKR officer. It was raised in Sabahkini as a source of collusion for "on paper" project that do not exist or not delivered.

SWD role was purely technical but critical for technical recommendation in the selection of contractors for closed tenders, assessment of tender, and technical clearance for payment.

The possible cooperation between SWD, Felcra/ Risda and KKLW/Federal Financial Officer makes for the perfect collusion. If so, the money seized proved.

Beginning 2010, tenders become less open and limited to closed tender. MACC reported only 38 companies with family links to the Director and his Deputy were allowed to participate.

Contractors in Sabah suspect the seized money are kickback paid in cash by the Director and his Deputy on their family linked contractors. Why the strange arrangement?

The anonymous blog extensively explained the manipulation of tender process, power of Minister to empower officers, and named suspected beneficiaries.

However, feedback received claimed they may have wrongly accused certain contractors.

Contracts are awarded by the Minister of Finance tender committee, and MOF will likely be the scapegoat of blame.

However, the important vetting is done at the lower committee and at times, the tender committee end up picking the card they are made to pick.

The more crucial stages to ensure tender success lies at the recommendations from the technical committee in KKLW and SWD.

The Minister have the influence to seek for special exemptions or make certain recommendations. Did he directly or indirectly do so?

Politics

MACC may need to investigate further all the way to the top.

It is not enough to hear assurances from Tan Sri Ali Hamsa to have MACC and Auditor General involve in contracts exceeding RM500 million.

Neither it is enough with denials all civil servants are not like the two and many recently caught by MACC.

The perpetrators must be found and the ways and means known to prevent repeated incidents.

This leakage was at large since 2010. Reports were made to MACC but only pursued now. Did friendship or politics or comradeship held back MACC?

The heartbreaking reality is poor people are left to endure daily hardship due to the greed for wealth and power by others.

The rural folks have been cursing and blaming Shafie for their hardship over the years. If there is no proof, he cannot be blatantly accused.

Shafie used to work with the Sabah state government and understand the working of the state and federal government. It may not be an easy catch.

It is a good reminder to Ali Hamsa's civil servants that it is them that will end up facing the brunt of the law.

Shafie could afford himself surrogate from among ex DAP and DAP as in former Junz Wong and Lim Lip Eng to defend him. Even today, Sarawak Report lent a hand a new spin on PM which was intended to instigate animosity against MACC.

The graft case had only taken the usual Malaysian path to be politicised. But if Anwar from inside prison need to help out to spin the issue to accuse Putrajaya [Mkini here], mayday distress signal can be heard loudly.

Dato Anifah Aman's statement earlier is quite relevant. He said none of the suspect in the water corruption is from UMNO.

The prime suspect could be from UMNO when MACC investigated. Only he quit the party early this year. May even be ally of PPBM.

Finger pointing could not deflect KKLW under Shafie

$

According to a concerned insider, the abuse and corruption of funds allocated to KKLW for the rural area to build homes for the poor, and bring basic necessities of water, electricity, and road including solar energy for the interior is still at large.

The current Minister, Dato Ismail Sabri has assigned his power under the Akta Perolehan 1949 (Semakan 1973) (see above) to the Chief Secretary (KSU) and his Deputy (TKSU).

The current KSU for KKLW is Dato Arif Abdul Rahman. He was the former State Financial Officer of Selangor gave problems to Yayasan Basmi Kemiskinan many years back.

The modus operandi involved collaboration with a Minister's officer that was once accused of selling away a by-election to PKR. However, it is new Minister, Ismail Sabri that is often mentioned in rumours and assigned blame.

When Shafie Apdal was Minister for KKLW, he merely assigned the power to sign to his KSU and TKSU but maintain control by insisting any Letter of Award (LOA) must get his clearance.

Anonymous blog Capt M released the following document:

This defers with the practise by Tan Sri Muhyddin when he was heading the Ministry of Education:

There are few examples in Captain M blog on how this power is controlled by Shafie to allow contracts to be given to cronies.

The power for Ministry to award is for projects below RM10 million but there were many occasions the procedure was not adhered and KKLW received warning from Ministry of Finance.

Read Capt M here.

Shafie's boys and his paid media have stopped blaming Dato Anifah Amin by slandering his innocent Treasurer of UMNO Kimanis.

They now blame his arch enemy, Chief Minister, Dato Musa Aman and the state government and deceived public by reporting unnamed source in MACC claimed his innocence.

Shafie is right to claim not all funding came from KKLW. The state contribute annually RM700 million to Sabah Water Department. Some RM600-700 million annually from KETTHA.

However, he cannot deny the fact that the budget for Bekalan Air Luar Bandar program falls under KKLW.

The devil is in the details but surely allocated budget from KKLW will surely be implicated.

In addition, KKLW received big allocation of RM17.59 billion under RMK9, RM28.4 billion under RMK10, and RM17 billion as NKRA.

Shafie was the Chairman for the Committee for NKRA on rural development. NKRA are fast track projects. The special concession to KKLW to issue LOA within 21 days of submission and to practise closed tender are opportunities for abuse.

Documents released by Captain M showed he is in the know and controlled contract given out to contractors in which LOA issued by KSU and TKSU require his signed approval.

MACC should pursue the investigation to the Ministry. Use the opportunity to clear-up accusation of collusion between MACC and Minister in charge of KKLW in the past.
.
As mentioned in the previous posting here, SWD was part of complot in the capacity to approve the technical specification of tender and selection of contractors.

However, they were not managing the allocation since Shafie refusd to transfer the money to Sabah state treasury.

Corruption and leakage can only be done to those in charge with the money. It cannot be state government since money is controlled by the federal treasury branch office in Kota Kinabalu.

The verification of completion of project does not involve the state but done by agencies under Risda or Felcra.

Tan Sri Pairin Kitingan was telling the truth to say that the RM3.3 billion projects are managed by KKLW.

Between Pairin and Shafie, the respected Huguan Siow to the KDM community is a far more honourable and his words believable. When PBS brought down Harris as Mahathir stooge, he did not need money to win.

In addition to Sabahkini, Captain M divulged several collaborating individuals from the Federal office in KK, proxies and contractors associated Shafie [read here, here, here, and here] including family members.

MACC should pursue these names revealed and talked about for years in Sabah. Parties in Sabah should come forward to make report and share their proofs to MACC.

If people associated with Shafie are innocent, MACC should clear their name officially. Not use Malaysiakini and remain anonymous.

Sabah Watergate: Latest arrest is former Deputy Director Sabah Water

$

MACC announced their fifth arrest in their investigation to the now mentioned as RM190 million Sabah Water Department (SWD) corruption case.

The suspect is the Sabah Finance Ministry Technical and Engineering Advisor. In case Dato Shafie Apdal people wish to divert and project the case to Chief Minister, Dato Musa Aman, this arrest has to do more with this position as Deputy Director of SWD which he retired from last year. More in The Star here.

All it takes a few bad apple to give a bad perception of state government but the fact shows it is likely related to federal Ministries management of water project for the rural areas.

The news report mentioned suspect's age at 62. It raises the suspicion that the person is Lam Lim Beng. He was 58 when Sabahkini exposed him in their posting in 2011 here.

The English translation taken from Malaysian Must Know The Truth blog below:
WHY MAINTAIN THE WATER DEPARTMENT that is corrupt?

Civil Authors,

NOT a secret, Deputy Director of Water Department, Lim Beng Lam collaborated with the engineer of the Water Department in Kota Kinabalu, Teo Chee Kong monopolize the water supply projects throughout the state through proxies using 30 licenses of Ali Baba class F to distribute the project in turn damages .

As one of the contractors who are victims pilihkasih Lim Beng Lam, I was upset because the Infrastructure Minister, Tan Sri Pairin Kitingan contracts will continue as Deputy Director of the Water Department for another year while he was aged 58.

If thus Pairin attitude, he did not protect the interests of the people of Sabah, especially many in the Water Department engineer who is qualified to sit for the Deputy Director of the event is not connected Beng Lim Lam contract.

We have some regrets that despite the channel information to the Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), but the MACC director Sabah Haji Jalil Jaafar did not do any investigation because we were unable to obtain contracts in the Water Department, although the register and renew our EAD every year.

A somewhat surprising because although the Director of Sabah State Water Department, Ag. Mohd. Tahir B. Mohd. Talib, but he was not a direct authority in the development projects and contracts Water Department; as if director Puppet!

It was unfortunate, to survive we had to carry out or subcontract work from other contractors with very low margins because they keep all the contracts throughout the state to Semporna Water Department engineer, rich from such contracts.

Lim Beng Lam will complete 58 years in February 2012, but we are quite upset because Pairin agreed to continue the contract until the age of 60, as if Pairin also endorsing the act of abetting crime and Teo Beng Lim Lam.

Is Lim Lam Beng too resistant or protected minister until MACC failed to take action against him when he has a savings and wealth, but not declared.

Salam Sincerely,

VICTIM BUREAUCRACY
The names in red are all under arrest and Captain M is gloating with joy:

Read Captain M here.

They expect MACC to make more arrests and have being mentioning names from state to federal, politicians to businessmen.

TI-M Chairman, Dr Akhtar Aziz wanted MACC to pursue politicians. So lets wait for MACC to take up the lead. Just do not whine if the politician turn out to be opposition.

Keling call meant for conniving Mamak Geng Loceng

$

Believe PM did not direct that statement to this blog's labeling of Mamak Geng Loceng as Keling.

It is was never meant for honest and trustworthy Indians. Why should it be directed at Indians in which some are our best friends?

Siapa pula pergi bawa mulut ke PM? Thought only Mamak Geng Loceng talk loudly but have no fact and proof.

The supporters and blind loyalists to Mamak Geng Loceng are rather shallow and seldom fail to grasp details tin their understanding of issues.

They make simplistic conclusions, concoct fictitous accusations, resort to sensational headlines and meaningless open letters, argue with shallow soundbytes, and are only noises of tabla.

Seldom the supporters and loyalists are merely regurgitating the words of their idols. It is indicative of the lack of ability to analyse themselves given information and unaware of certain critical facts.

Maybe some are not so but intentionally intended to lack depth and objectivety to incite anger and hatred among their followers to turn them into fanatics and blind loyalists.

Geng Loceng have no conduct of mutual respect. They lie and cheat.

Without sensible rationale, no wonder Geng Loceng kept losing out at every moves to ouster the PM and fail to draw support to PPBM.

They tried to do vote of no confidence in Parliament, railroad last year's budget, attempt resolution from floor at UMNO General Assembly, illegally established special taskforce and conspired to apprehend based on fake charge sheet.

Reform?

They organised a Citizen Declaration to call for reform but from item #6 to #36 is only about 1MDB.

There are no specifics in the institutional reform proposed that it pales in comparison to Najib's transformational action plan already in progress and achieving its milestones.

The person who messed up the institutions from royal to executive, government to political party and corporate, and civil service to judiciary cannot be the champion for reform.

And the one that destroyed institution of government is the one that should undergo reform by confessing, apologising and returning wealth gained through power abuse.

Citizen Declaration claimed 1.3 million signatories but it is obviously fake.

If Anwar-initiated post GE protest could hardly gather 300,000 signatories, could Geng Loceng achieve without the people, organisation and within shorter time?

Yet without shame, they had the cheek to seek audience with Agong and now continue the charade to write-in to Royal Council for royal intervention to sack PM based on their fake declaration.

Was it not he himself that curb the constitutional power of Malay rulers but now dishonour himself by seeking the rulers to do his bidding?

Insidious

Accept the fact that it is another lost attempt. And as RPK wrote here to to outrightly say PPBM is a cause destined to lose too.

The Geng Loceng have U-turned on their every beliefs, positions and principles made all through his time in public office.

He recently promised oil royalty to Kelantan but it was he who stopped oil royalty to Terengganu. Throughout his 22 years, he ignored the rights of Sabah and Sarawak including refusing to review oil royalty and implementation of Malaysia Agreement 1963.

He complained everytime government need to restructure Proton to protect his nephew who supplies spareparts at multiple the price supplied to Perodua for same spareparts.

Recently, he accused Najib of orchestrating the fall of Pak Lah when it was he who did so out of greed for power to place his son on the fast track to premiership and greed of wealth to secure the double tracking and crooked bridge of Johor Baru projects.

What is in it for himself? What is in it for him to vehemently oppose and see the demise of 1MDB?

To accuse Najib of bringing Pak Lah's downfall, fixing people cannot be the work of anyone but himself.

He was behind the scene through then Attorney General in fixing Anwar with first sodomy charge that was thrown out by a Special Review by the Federal Court.

It is the same AG that called for the illegally established Special Taskforce and the pre-investigation charge sheet.

And he kept asking when Anwar will be imprisoned at every time he met Najib to pressure into interfering and imprisoning Anwar fast to enable him to immediately start his coup to topple yet another PM.

He has since "apologised" to Anwar and is in the midst of ditching Tan Sri Muhyiddin, after announcing him as next PM with intention to get opposition to oppose.

Devoid of any self respect left, he is licking his own spit to bow to opposition's demand for Anwar to be next PM.

Since Anwar cannot be PM or become MP in 7 years, he could insidiously be preparing for dreamy Mukhriz rise as a bridegroom PM controlled and taking instructions from many bridesmaids.

Not impossible for him to ditch his own son for Azmin.

Hypocrit

Since flip flopping his position on illegal assembly to attend the rude and unruly DAP led Bersih 4.0, the Geng Loceng have compromised on every principles that they stand for thus are liars not worthy of trust and respect.

The involvement of Mukhriz in Bersih 5.0 and his opposition to NSC Act could not erase his decades of abuse against civil liberty and citizens right.

Najib is far more a civil libertarian and open to dissenting voices than he was.

In reply to allegations of wrongdoings including crime of corruptions, embezzlements and abuse of power on them, Geng Loceng had argued for decades before Syed Sabri was born that it must be done through proper channel, properly administered due process, backed by proofs and evidences, and according to the principle of innocent until proven guilty.

It turned out to be another charade and excuses to protect their hold on power and business interest, including that of their children, proxies, nominees and trustees.

For Najib and Pak Lah, it is not applicable. His Machivellian politics of the ends to justify the means is void of values and principles. Such immoral politics is destructive to the nation.

They used to be vehement against foreign interference but this time, Geng Loceng unpatriotically collaborated with Murdoch owned WSJ and NYT, Soros funded Clare Brown and Sarawak Report, and paid international PR agencies and lobbyist to get foreign authorities and prosecutor to act.

All this done with political intention to overthrow the government for DAP-led opposition and foreign interest to usurp power to protect his interest cloaked under the pretext of legacy.

All his accusations were made without a shred of evidence and purely cheap propaganda insufficient to prove to the learned public of any direct involvement, instruction and planning by the PM.

All allegations have yet to undergo the due process, some investigations had only started court process, and the defense side of the allegations have yet been heard.

Are the infringements involves criminal act against the law or non compliance to order in the form of rules and regulations?

The criticals may puke to this but seriously, this is an important basic questuon. Is PM being charged or it is others?

Their accusative behaviour reminded of Anwar's dismissal from government and UMNO for first sodomy case. It turned out later to be no case and was meant to thwart Anwar's attempt to topple him.

It will be the same as the allegation of wrongdoings involving ECM Libra-Avenue merger which upon removal of Pak Lah, it was not pursued.

Not trustworthy

If the past is a projection of the present, and leopards do not change spots, any claimed concerns are superficial and hidden with other intentions of self-interest.

Thus far, the modus operandi in the present allegations and psywar hardly differs from past efforts to topple past prime ministers and his deputy.

Only this time, his various moves kept failing thus the more daring and drastic actions to save the Keling from losing face.

To Tamil speakers, Keling could be a derogatory word to describe this conniving and anarchic Mamak Geng Loceng.

However, it is the most accurate and suitable description for the consumption of the Malaysian public which have been consistently deceived, manipulated and ultimately burdened by their actions.

Again, Keling is not directed at Indians and it never was. It was directed at the full of auta Mamak Geng Loceng.

Indians should ignore the divisive Mamak Geng Loceng and heed PM wise advise to unite under MIC or some other agreed entity.

The total number of Indian party members cannot total more than the 7% Indian population so they need to find a common ground and workable arrangement.

Think of the welfare of all Indians and not be fooled by some divisive, regressive and power hungry Keling.

If Najib is wrong, justice will catch up and his fate will be openly accepted.

But this destructive and anarchic politics of "end justifying the means" for someone's ego and greed for power, wealth and dynasty must not be allowed to perpetuate.

Fact check political narrative in economic discussion

$

Never bothered to listen to the budget speech. More keen on the broad area of past performance, forecast, challenges, strategy and focus. Rather wait out for the next morning paper for the details.

The budget to be tabled by Dato Najib in Parliament this evening is important. It will be the first budget after the loss of oil revenue. Meeting public expectation, or more accurately, to meet the expectation of a public so used to government subsidy will be a challenge.

One can expect much hue and cry, especially from among the Bumiputera community experiencing the transition or government buzzwords, transformation to reduced oil revenue, from dependent on NEP to be more independent, competitive and merit, from highly subsidised economy to a more efficient and focused subsidy system, and towards high income economy.

There have been some prepping in the mainstream media on what to expect but that brought about politically motivated statements, actions and deceptions to lure the public out of reality into emotional response beneficial to their power quest.

Politicians being politicians, particularly opposition seeking for power, they will manipulate the basic cognitive nature of human. It was touched before in the posting here touching on public gullibility or in an attempt to be political correct, cognitive miserly. It means literally lazy to think.

This time it relates to a psychology book entitled The Political Brain.

It was recommended by a friend but after reading several review, believe it was nothing new worthy to spend money to buy from Amazon. However, the essence of the book is important to be shared.

Scientific American described the phenomenon described by the research by Drew Westen of Emory University as confirmation bias with an observation by philosopher Francis Bacon:
The human understanding when it has once adopted an opinion ... draws all things else to support and agree with it. And though there be a greater number and weight of instances to be found on the other side, yet these it either neglects and despises ... in order that by this great and pernicious predetermination the authority of its former conclusions may remain inviolate. --Francis Bacon, Novum Organum, 1620
In an experiment to assess brain activity to a group of politicians to statements by George Bush and John Kerry, it was found that:
The neuroimaging results, however, revealed that the part of the brain most associated with reasoning--the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex--was quiescent. Most active were the orbital frontal cortex, which is involved in the processing of emotions; the anterior cingulate, which is associated with conflict resolution; the posterior cingulate, which is concerned with making judgments about moral accountability; and--once subjects had arrived at a conclusion that made them emotionally comfortable--the ventral striatum, which is related to reward and pleasure.
The conclusion as to take a line from a NYT review in 2007, is a horrific and scary prospect.
"Reason and rationality, therefore, play a limited role in political decisions."

That explains the manner the campaign for the current US Presidency between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. As a non-politicians, Trump lack the experience, verbal articulation and temperament to get into the usual political debate of election.

He stick to his experience as a wheeler dealer and salesman and pursued the emotional side of the public. It has been successful for him during the Republican primaries against opponents unprepared with his loud talk straight and no holds barred provocative ways.

Despite lacking any coherent strategy or plan, he managed to get the attention of his targeted core group of white, working class and conservatives. If Hillary had stuck to the ways of other Republican candidates did, she would have been dead meat.

Though trying hard to remain presidential and "play high", it had been the emotive issues on women, racial issues, non-disclosure and non paying of tax, and stiffing contractors that turned the table for Hillary.

Leading to the first debate, her poll numbers were just about even with Trump. After yesterday's, it would be only divine intervention or the remote possibility of nullification due to Trump refusal to accept results to deny Hillary the presidency.

In anticipation of Trump trying hard to dig in and turned presidential, she up her ante with the timely dispensing of Trump's own medicine to mock, taunt and torment him. Read this New York Times fun piece here.

Sadly, the once much respected US Presidential debate with it's content of facts, arguments and ideas has came down to the most prepared person to assume the Presidency accusing Donald of cheating out of paying social security and replied with a "nasty woman" response.

Guess Malaysian politics is not far off.

Yesterday, Theresa Kok responded to accused Gerakan MP of "jahat" for interjecting and rebutting her with the argument Penang government failed to consult federal government on the undersea tunnel project.

Political narrative cannot be avoided from public discussion on economy, policies and government. Corruption is human's individual fallacy but it is convenient political rhetorics to invoke anger towards a certain party.

The budget for 2017 to be tabled in Parliament today will expect the same political rhetorical treatment too.

With cash rich Saudi Arabia just announced a US$17 billion bond issue, the first ever borrowing and massive one, it is childish of Tun Dr Mahathir to snipe a remark of budget being useless because it is only promises and government will not be able to meet the budget.

During the currency crisis of 19998-2000, did he not also had to retable his budget for not meeting his revenue forecast?

Mahathir had not detoured far from his initial chronology of issues based on the political slogans on dedak and cash is king, personal potshot at Najib and Rosmah, GST and BR1M, etc.

The other two is on Sirul and 1MDB.

Off late, with him in a political warpath, Mahathir is not on rational mode and have not got his facts and figures in order. Seademon here highlighted the inconsistencies in his economic views. Debt to GDP ration during his time reached more than 100%!

He is motivated by politics and not interested for a serious discussion on the economy. The intention is only to ignite anger among the public. If ISA is still around, there are reasons to lock him up. Only it looks cruel to lock up a 91 year old man.

No doubt that Mahathir's one issue agenda of 1MDB to topple the PM is taking it's course but already the Monet painting is under dispute by the real owner.

It puts into question DOJ's fact finding and investigative earnestness. Malaysian born Australian lawyer, Quentin Rozario raised issues of law with DOJ's filing.

With Loretta Lynch name seldom appeared in the election campaign with relate to issue on the Clinton Foundation, do not discount future development on her and Kleptocrasy suit against Red Granite.

As Rocky summarised here, the so-called nook tightening on PM's neck is not even around his neck. Yet pro-toon already presumed guilty on just evidence-lacking accusation by Mahathir.

Next week on 28th Red Granite is due to file their defense.

Should be interesting development in the midst of budget debate with opposition using the fictitious alternative budget to champion political cause.

They claimed they could halves PM Department budget and zero-rise GST. It is surely a poplar move but the absurdity of it is where re they going to get the revenue to fund their budget as pointed out by Liow here.

If they political rhetorics is about PM Office, they should distinguish between PMO and PM Department. The various programs and agencies established under PM Department will still need to be re-direct to other Ministries.

Closing it up will be disastrous to the economy and in a situation where government role is needed to stimulate and transform the economy, opposition is adding more short term problem for political expediency.

And their budget could save the economy from crashing?

Another Kadir Jasin like conspiracy theory of a failed economy but evidential facts and substantive argument. The economic mechanism stop working in a failed economy, Is it happening?

Does it mean there is no hope for a rational and mature politics?

Maybe it i snot so bleak if new generation of voters wants to emulate more developed democrasy to demand for credible dialogue and not fall for the shallow rhetorics of Bersih and anti-Bersih people and various shallow cheap psywar like lying about withdrawal of cooking oil subsidy and toll hike.

It would be beneficial to have an independent body to do fact checking of politicians statements and allegations. In Yesterday's third debate between Trump and Clinton, Trump failed badly. He looks destined for a major wipe off as Hillary close in on traditional Republican electoral colleges.

Scientific American concluded:
We need similar controls for the confirmation bias in the arenas of law, business and politics. Judges and lawyers should call one another on the practice of mining data selectively to bolster an argument and warn juries about the confirmation bias. CEOs should assess critically the enthusiastic recommendations of their VPs and demand to see contradictory evidence and alternative evaluations of the same plan. Politicians need a stronger peer-review system that goes beyond the churlish opprobrium of the campaign trail, and I would love to see a political debate in which the candidates were required to make the opposite case.
Ten years after this article, political debate has been demeaned to mud wrestling and no different in the third world politics of Malaysia if we ever start one. The answer lies in the last line:
Skepticism is the antidote for the confirmation bias.

Already got what's needed. Rather go for workout to loosen upper torso syndrome issues.

Enjoy listening to the budget!

Common decency and civility

But we need to get better at finding ways to disagree on matters of policy while agreeing on questions of decency and civility. How we talk to each other, treat each other, respect each other. - Hillary Clinton
There is a political tradition in America, where both presidential candidates share a stage together for the last time before the election. It is at the white-tie only Al Smith Dinner to raise fund for charity and hosted by the Archbishop of New York.

It is a lighted-hearted event, where both candidates would traditionally give humorous roast speeches to poke fun at themselves and their opponents. This year it featured Hillary and Trump.

With Trump being Trump, he did took it a bit far.

Some say, Hillary had her unsavory moments too and had acknowledged and apologised for it. Nevertheless, her final words are profound and worthy for us, Malaysians to ponder, reflect and emulate.

A little bit about Al Smith in his memory the dinner was held.

It started in 1945 after the death of Alfred Smith, a four time Governor of New York (1919-28, 1923-28) and Democratic presidential candidate cum first Catholic candidate in 1928.

The man described as progressive reformer lost to Herbert Hoover and the reason was said to be 3P - Prohibition, Prejudice and Prosperity.

A repeat must be avoided as there are similarities to our experience in Malaysia. [Read about it in Wikipedia here.]

Hillary paid tribute to the first Al:
In the end what makes this dinner important are not the jokes we tell but the legacy that we carry forward. It is often easy to forget how far this country has come.

And there are a lot of people in this room tonight who themselves, or their parents or grandparents, came here as immigrants, made a life for yourselves, took advantage of the American dream and the greatest system that has ever been created in the history of the world to unleash the individual talents and energy and ambition of everyone willing to work hard.

And when I think about what Al Smith went through it’s important to just reflect how groundbreaking it was for him, a Catholic, to be my party’s nominee for president. Don’t forget – school boards sent home letters with children saying that if Al Smith is elected president you will not be allowed to have or read a Bible. Voters were told that he would annul Protestant marriages.

And I saw a story recently that said people even claimed the Holland Tunnel was a secret passageway to connect Rome and America, to help the Pope rule our country.

Those appeals, appeals to fear and division, can cause us to treat each other as the Other. Rhetoric like that makes it harder for us to see each other, to respect each other, to listen to each other. And certainly a lot harder to love our neighbor as ourselves.
The message for us Malaysians; Muslim or Christians, irrespective of faith and party leaning, to ponder:
I believe how we treat others is the highest expression of faith and of service. I’m not Catholic. I’m a Methodist, but one of the things that we share is the belief that in order to achieve salvation we need both faith and good works. And you certainly don’t need to be Catholic to be inspired by the humility and heart of the Holy Father, Pope Francis. Or to embrace his message.

His message about rejecting a mindset of hostility, his calls to reduce inequality, his warnings about climate change, his appeal that we build bridges, not walls.

Now as you may know, my running mate, Tim, is Catholic and went to Jesuit schools, and one of the things he and I have talked about is this idea from the Jesuits of the Magis, the more, the better. But we need to get better at finding ways to disagree on matters of policy while agreeing on questions of decency and civility. How we talk to each other, treat each other, respect each other.

So I’ve taken this concept of Magis to heart in this campaign, as best as one can in the daily heat, the back and forth of a presidential campaign, to ask how we can do more for each other, and better for each other. Because I believe that for each of us, our greatest monument on this earth won’t be what we build, but the lives we touch.
Her roast speech in full below:

Trump looked in pain to put up the fake smile on his face. His campaign surrogate, Mayor Gulliani lost his sense of humour and was obviously not humoured. The odds are already 2-1 stacked against Trump.

He spoke but was embarassingly out of depth. He could not get out of his usual incoherent vitriol even if he tried to.

Hillary's speech was far more entertaining and witty than Trump's. As politician, Hillary was better with her words and knows how to use them for her own benefits as she jab jokes at Trump. She is more classy and subtle in saying the same, "Donald you are fired!"

Trump was far from it. CNN commentary analysed Trump's awkward behaviour:

Both are either politician or pursuing political office and some level of scepticism on them is only expected. However, there is a lesson to be learned by both sides of the political divide here.

In the light of bizarre allegation on 2017 budget, misinformation, and childish unparliamentarian behaviour on Friday, rivaling politicians should be reminded that decency and civility will always win the day.

National leadership will only be for those with the suitable intellect and temperament. Unfortunately, last Friday saw a leader with some level of temperament begin losing it. Yet, still not meet the temperament of a leader on the opposition side.

For all those politicians in Parliament, shower us, the politically fatigue with your fact, intellect and ideas as expressed with eloquence, civility and wit. Save your drama, propaganda and indecencies to the past.

Because civil servants turned a blind eye

When told of the mishap at the Tunku Aminah Hospital in Johor Baru, a family member responded to say some idiot will blame it on some politicians.

So happen few other fires broke out in Johor including another one at the same hospital. There was a viral message that blamed Dato Najib for bringing bad luck. Typical of Malaysians to be quick with their blame. Usually they do not bother to find out the line of responsibility to direct the right blame.

Because of that, the real culprit could lie low and get away. Crime and corruption are at large. It gets so large and beyond control of law enforcement to handle. Pity on MACC, now that they have to operate on a twice slashed budget. An incentive plan should be considered to motivate them.

Ultimately, the people have to bear with it. In the light of the new regulation to limit subsidised cooking oil to only 1 kg package, an uproar is only expected and the usual blame will be leveled at Ministers.

Naturally, Najib will be blame for satu lagi barang naik harga.

No doubt there are corrupt Ministers and politicians. If the Minister is at fault, know first what is their responsibility? What can they do? What specifically did they do?

Definitely they cannot do everything to be blamed for everything. Someone must have collaborated.

Another equally important question is: who are responsible for implementation? Who was responsible for operations? Who was supposed to do monitoring and control? And who to do enforcement of law and regulations?

If something go wrong, where did it go wrong and who was in charge and directly responsible?

Things go wrong when there had been interference on the procedures, process and authority. Someone given the burden of authority and responsibility failed. Check and balance in the system encroached upon.

Did anyone bother to find out if there had been any interference or manipulation of the SOP?

As a palm oil producing country, the benefit was shared with the people by making it cheap for consumers through government subsidy system. At one time, Malaysia survive is a low cost producer nation so subsidy on goods particularly food and fuel was necessary to keep cost of living affordable and low.

However, Malaysians being Malaysians, there will always be that someone out there taking advantage of the situation. Dave Avran wrote in What's cooking Doc? that some 45,000 metric tonne of subsidised cooking oil, over the local consumption of 40,000 metric tonne, get smuggled out of the country every month.

The subsidised cooking oil is sold at market price and that cost the country a whopping RM540 million a year. As a result, it become costly for government to bear and everyone suffer because the greed of the few.

Back in 2014, this blog pursued the issue of diesel leakage and the accompanying fuel card contract. Billions may have been lost a year and the diesel budget increased from RM10 billion for 2010 to RM25 billion for 2015.

There were syndicates of big time players that could afford to have tankers to export subsidised diesel.

The diesel was obtained through network of petrol stations. Illegal pipes can be seen jutting out near the jetties for diesel to be funneled away. Tankers can be seen queuing in the high seas ready to load and leave.

In the postings [read here, here and here], it was revealed that be it, port authorities or APMM or marine police or KPDNKK, enforcement agencies and authorities were on the take to look the other way and allow this economic sabotage on the country and people to happen.

Before anyone do a blame on this blogger or twist it to some political agenda, re-look this 2015 posting here on an NST report of a Special Branch report claimed 80% of agencies involved with the border are on the take.

The biggest MACC raid of Sabah Water Department highlighted a glaring fact. Corruption cannot happen if civil servants are not involved. Though the suspicion is on KKLW and the then Minister, Dato Shafie Apdal, the first line of corruption and power abuse at the civil servants level have to be ascertained first.

Pondering over how 45,000 metric tonne of cooking oil could be illegally smuggled yesterday [read Bigdog here], the revelation was alarming.

Cooking oil is not as lasting as diesel that can be hidden in bunkers and exported to far away places. It requires a more delicate handling than the easily pumped diesel. Unlike CPO, it cannot use large storage.

The volume of 45,000 metric tonne is a huge, to quote Donald Trump. It shows the operation is widespread and cannot go un-noticed. At 45,000 metric tonne a month, the smuggling activities must be glaring and obvious. It means authorities like KPDNKK turned a blind eye to allow it to build up over many years.

Since writing about the diesel smuggling many years ago, the last check shows the Director of Enforcement remained the same person. As the saying goes, Ministers come and go, the civil servants are here to stay.

The corrupted ones would stay on forever to pan the gold mine. The codeword used among civil servants is they found their lubuk.

Authorities cannot claim to not know. Smuggling operations need containers, boxes, factories equipments and transportation. There is only so many palm oil refineries and the industry knows all the players. They are aware of any abnormalities in the market.

Unusual activities cannot be undetected. For instance, it was once reported that food manufacturers abused the subsidy system but has any major factory or palm oil producer charged?

Another of equal importance: how many consumers or common Malaysians folks reported these illegal activities to the authorities? One can argue that certain authorities will not do anything about it but did they report?

Know of friends involved in food industry that when asked to share information to whistleblow on the abuse of the issuance of Approved Permit, refused to tell anything. But upon retirement, cakap banyak! Sembang saja ....

Remember that no Minister or even wife or family of Minister could get kickbacks if the civil servants do not collaborate. The Ministers have certain power but if civil servants dare to resign in protest and speak to the press to uphold integrity, Minister or politicians cannot help themselves on public fund and subsidy.

Some KSU and Directors are known to do stood up against Minister or not collaborate. Unfortunately, it is for the wrong reason and there is usually self-interest.

When Sabah Water story broke, Dr Ali Hamsa was quick to say projects more than RM500 million will require MACC and Auditor General involvement in the tender process. Why only now? Why did KSP slashed MACC's budget and human resources thin?

If there is a system in place and PTD Mafia of KSN and KSUs are honest and serious, there is no need for MACC and Auditor?

It is an acknowledgement that civil servants cannot be entrusted with authority and responsibility. If the public is not comfortable to authorise politicians, then under what system can there be without any person being entrusted responsibility?

For that matter, everybody - politicians, civil servants, industry players and public - should be responsible. In one way or another, everyone  closed their eye, ear and mouth to allow the abuse to happen and prolong.

This is something that affected our daily life and yet we kept quiet about it. Yet we scream over issues which are not understood and clear. At the same time, allow themselves to be manipulated by the corrupt and power crazy to perpetuate legacy and dynasty.

All of us will have to bear the inconvenience. Maybe it is time to consume less oil and try grilling and steaming food. Healthier ...

Threading the 1MDB issue carefully

Rocky Bru's here seemed bored with the same old annual routine of tabling the budget in Parliament.

After all, it's sole purpose is merely to get Parliament approval for the government to operate next year. If there is enough fund, things will procede as planned. Otherwise, it is postphoned.

In the latest October 25th 2016 statistics here, public sector via government services constitute only a small fraction of GDP, mere 8.2%.

It's GDP contribution is not significant to attentively follow the speech. Off late, there is always a political wayang in the midst of the speech.

As usually happen, budget debate lack any substance. No different this year as Dato Salleh Said Keruak felt "...opposition missed the forest for the trees".

This budget is a testament to Najib's unwavering commitment for reform (dubbed as transformation) agenda and the people, especially in the rural area even during this testy economic environment.

He has taken the agenda beyond the feudel pomp and pageantry of Vision 2020 to a more realistic TN50 "reform".

Anything misconstrued as challenging his legacy, dynasty, and crony will only get a vicious response from Tun Dr Mahathir. The man wants to live and be held in adoration till the 2100s.

Seldom debated with depth is the budget's objective, focus and strategy within the current national policy and plan.

Not necessary to agree, but the only substantive opinion was Penang Institute's call to slash the civil service. If only the Malays sympathetic to Mahathir's cause realised the implication.

Dato' Khairuddin Abu Hassan announced a gathering of Malay NGOs with Mahathir this Wednesday. Either Mahathir is up to something nasty or covering up for some unexpected development.

It is rumoured there is internal problem brewing within PPBM arising from Mahathir's de facto spokesman's announcement to resign from the party.

Further development await as only viral rumours of mass resignation being spread.

Budget debate

Nevertheless, Mahathir's main show remain the budget and current parliament seating. Same like last year, this year's budget is marred by another of Mahathir orchestrated political sideshow.

Last year, he attempt to reject 2016 budget and put government at ransom till Dato Najib resign.

And this year's to discredit the credibility of the budget and taking opportunity of recent development on 1MDB-related cases abroad. It started with a walkout in the midst of the budget speech.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin claimed the numbers are not the true picture and linked it to 1MDB's problem. In his maiden speech from the opposition bench, he made a diversion to claim contingent liability of 1MDB is not reflected in budget.

First, with only 3% budget deficit, where is the imprudent forecast? Budget is not about contingent liability but cashflow plan for next year.

Second, the revenue forecast practise by government are conservatively made. Spending is linked to and limited by available cash. Muhyiddin have to be specific.

Third, national debt at below 55% of GDP cannot be out of control. This was Muhyiddin defense of government few years ago. Only debt level during early Mahathir administration exceeded 100% of GDP was not raised.

And, Muhyiddin used to argue that the bulk of national debt is corporate debt and not belong to government. Thus for Tony Pua's accusation that government hidden debt under NFPC.

Major government infrastructure are done though NFPC but loans raised are treated by Banks as corporate loan and matched against cashflow.

Opposition can only be expected to provide check and balance. However, this year they are merely to check and divert.

In the meanwhile, Dato Husni Hanazlah's expanded his earlier script of the burden of 1MDB made him worry and thus resign. His first question as backbencher is to ask the questions he answered last year.

For him to ask on SRC, isn't MoF 2 supposed to be in charge of government companies? He is not competent in communication and problem solving but now, it seemed he does not know his job.

Husni left because he disagree to leave MoF. He is worried audit could expose his wrongdoings. His naivety and innocent pious look could be deceiving.

He threatened that he has more. It is the ethics of blackmailer and corrupt.

No news

Both Muhyiddin and Husni were still threading the 1MDB issue carefully. So should everyone.

Same with Mahathir and his surrogates, they were still asking questions instead of making a clear and concise allegation.

Mahathir's gathering on Wednesday could try to divert attention to Malay interest issues he could exploit as political issue. RPK's and Joceline Tan's latest pieces could pre-empt Mahathir [read here and here, respectively].

Possibly, Mahathir will remain within the 1MDB theme. October 28th was the extended deadline given to Red Granite and the four individuals to submit their defense.

That deadline was last Friday but there have been no news or statement from the California court or Red Granite or DOJ.

If Red Granite and the four had not submitted, the assets could be immediately forfeited. But why no news report on the court decision?

As far as Red Granite, they denied in July. In early August, Red Granite reached a pact with DOJ to be allowed to ring-fensed future income from the movie, Werewolves of Wall Street.

It is possible Red Granite raised issue of law raised by Quentin Rozario [read in Malaysia Outlook here].

The Malaysian born Australian lawyer received brickbat for calling DOJ's action as legally flawed. However, former TI Chairman, Tunku Aziz similarly felt DOJ and AG used strong arm tactic.

The Hollywood Reporter reported in late September that DOJ is still investigating the film's funding. It affirms Rozario's concern.

That possibility cannot be discounted. DOJ filing was viewed by certain legal source as not legally clear and concise in their allegation.

Source claimed a certain US lawyer described DOJ's case as flimsy. The content is a near replica of WSJ and Sarawak Report and written resembling a newspaper feature.

With IRS in DOJ investigating team, they could have seized and forfeited the assets. Tax authorities have far reaching discretionary power and in some country, can take action before court make a decision.

It is likely US AG and DOJ is in a daze. They are currently under immense political pressure for stopping FBI investigation of Hillary's e-mails. Last week FBI dropped the bomb on her presidential campaign to announce re-opening investigation.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch is also under attack by the media for her tarmac meeting with Bill Clinton in Arizona last summer. The meeting was believed to be related to donations to Clinton Foundation.

Last week's Fox News reported possible Lynch involvement to channel donation to the foundation from Wall Street banks as part of settlement for various cases.

Was that the reason Frank White came to Malaysia?

Hillary is about even with Trump in the latest national poll. Her campaign is in limbo and most likely, Lynch will not be reappointed.

Threading carefully

These may be the reasons Mahathir and his surrogates are vocal but threading the 1MDB issue carefully.

And, it could be the same for Matthias Chang and Dato Husam Musa to voluntarily withdrew their civil suit in September.

It is believed that Mahathir is moving the main thrust of his political onslaught on Najib to the Malay economic angle.

In the meanwhile, the protoons are confident cases against BSI and Falcon in Singapore will tighten the noose around Najib's neck. It could unravel more information and confirm the allegedly diverted 1MDB money.

However, be it Singaporean or Swiss authorities, both are more interested to safeguard their banking system from breach of regulations. More to do with the order side of law and order.

The more outspoken Swiss AG may have spoken more than necessary but it is his political ambition talking. Notice that they have yet to complete investigation and still seeking MLA.

After months of slow development on the DOJ part, there is increasing suspicion that they may have a faulty case.

Otherwise, their filing would not have stated 1MDB insisted Good Star is owned by Petrosaudi. SR allegedly doctored e-mail to hide this fact and DOJ could embarassingly be in possession of such documents.

There have been NO formal MLA established between FBI or any other foreign enforcement agencies with Malaysian authorities on this case. The legality of documents in their posession is questionable.

Could Rozario hinted so to claim DOJ's case is flawed and Husan and Matthias realised it?

If true, the complainant/(s) may have committed treason. The common reaction would be to blame the three Tan Sris but this is just suspicion.

By right, the public should heed the advise of former US Ambassador, Joesph Yam to wait for the first hearing.

But to leave issues unanswered or unexplained will open one to risk of manipulation by opposition, and invite speculation and negative perception.

Nothing is confirmed yet despite Muhyiddin's claim in Parliament that Tan Sri Gani Patail showed and gave him documents. If he has, why did he need to read The Edge to understand?

And, why did he not reveal to knock Najib out with a single blow instead of facing the shame of being removed from cabinet and expelled from UMNO?

The Machivelian Mahathir would heartlessly use anything to knock out his political opponents. He pressured Pak Lah to resign using flimsy allegations.

To remove a national leader, it must be based on firm and confirm allegation. Not on some cerita Keling.

Rafizi, the unrepenting slanderor strikes again

$

High Court made a judgement in favour of NFCorp. Executive Chairman, Dato Dr Mohamed Salleh Ismail on Monday.

MP for Pandan and PKR Sec-Gen, Rafizi Ramli was ordered to pay RM300,000 to Salleh and his company plus cost. His BAFIA case is still on-going and does not look to be in his favour.

Within 48 hours, the unrepenting slanderor and compulsive liar was fined by a Session Court for RM1,950 for his involvement in the post-GE 13 Blackout 505 rally in 2013 and is already back to his own self with another sensational slandering.

He made an issue of Riza Aziz's presence on board of PM's official jet for his official visit to China that it was picked up by foreign press.

PM is entitled to invite any person on his official jet. More so, as Datin Rosmah's Special Officer, Dato Rizal Mansor explained, there is an official invitation from the host.

It is a non-issue and not unusual as Dato Marina Mahathir was seen with Tun Mahathir in a China official visit in 1985.

To return the nitpicking, Tun Siti Hasmah should not accompany most of Mahathir's overseas trip but to make way, he assigned her as official doctor and maybe got paid.

Considering the investment China made in Malaysia, the issue raised is petty. It is a Rafizi's issue yesterday against Tabung Haji that should be looked seriously.

It is seditious and intended as economic sabotage. Someone should make a police report and investigation commenced immediately.

It was reported by Malaysiakini yesterday:

Rafizi: TH cannot repay depositors in event of total withdrawal

1 Nov 2016, PM 3:18 (Updated 1 Nov 2016, PM 3:59)

PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli has claimed his analysis of Tabung Haji's financial statement ending Dec 31, 2015 showed the pilgrimage fund would not have enough money to pay its depositors should they withdraw their funds all at once.

"An analysis of Tabung Haji's repayment capability showed if all depositors were to withdraw their deposits together on Dec 31, 2015, Tabung Haji would be short of RM3 billion to make the repayments," he told a press conference in Parliament today.

Read on in Malaysiakini here.
Rafizi is not dumb to know that even Banks and Financial Institutions could not meet such commitment in the event depositers withdraw en masse.

But still he raised the same issue to deceive the naive depositers into thinking Tabung Haji is in financial trouble.

He has been at it with Tabung Haji, YADEIM and various Islamic financial institutions to instill public distrust and create lost of confidence.

Earlier, Mahathir diehard journalists and bloggers created the same issue with Tabung Haji with regard to a strategic and good bargain piece of 1MDB land. One of them was rewarded a RM10,000 a month salary from a gambling company to afford two new personal vehicles.

Banks maintain about 20% or slightly less of their total asset in liquid near cash assets to meet any immediate cash needs.

They too do not have sufficient capacity to meet any request for total withdrawal by depositers at one go.

It take sometime for other assets such as property, loans and advances and investment to be liquidated or unwind. Rafizi's statement is ridiculous expectation on Tabung Haji.

Such massive withdrawal only occurs in a phenomenon called run on the bank.

It usually happen during financial crisis that resulted in severe lost in confidence with the respective institution and  depositers rush to withdraw their money.

In Malaysia, it happened to Malayan Banking in the 60s and on the DTC during the cooperative scandal in the 80s. Government was forced to takeover Maybank from Tan Sri Khoo Teck Puat and MCA politically suffered till today.

Rafizi will try to excuse himself as though he raising issue of public concern. However, his intention is crystal clear to undermine public confidence in Tabung Haji with the hope to cause a run.

He failed on his first time on Tabung Haji through NOW but no serious action have been taken against him yet.

Only recently, it was reported that his so-called whistleblower NGO but more a political slandering think tank is under investigation. He is screaming malice but SSM's reply said it has the power to raid without notice.

In addition, he has gone nitpicking on Tabung Haji's other investment and making mountain out mole hill out of claimed losses in specific project at certain operational subsidiary.

Were the state companies loss free when he was working at Selangor Economic Adviser office?

These days any action against the other side will be spinned as why not 1MDB. Same excuse opposition is using to oppose the law to regulate political funding.

And that is exactly the same psywar game to prop up sentiment and justify the destructive actions against public institution.

A run on Tabung Haji will have serious consequences on Malaysia's financial system and our reputation as a leading global centre for Islamic finance. It takes a lot of effort over many years to attain such status.

Actions of Rafizi and the previous bloggers tantamount to betrayal towards their own faith, if munafiq or fasiq are too extreme description.

Government have a commitment to guarantee every deposit of Tabung Haji. Most likely, Rafizi's insidious intention is to put the government in a financial bind n view of the tight budgetary constraint.

It is most irresponsible of this leader admired by the new generation of voters for his vocal brevity!

For depositers of Tabung Haji, they are not required to pay witholding tax on the profit.

An account and deposit with Tabung Haji is required to queue for the opportunity to perform Haj. The thousands gullible ones t
forfeited themselves out of the wait list.

Slandering or misrepresenting the truth in any allegations against Tabung Haji or other Islamic institution should be seen as treasonous act of economic sabotage on the ummah and nation.

Serious action must be taken on this unrepenting slanderor politician. In his public allegations of alleged wrongdoing of government, he constantly twist fact, spin stories, fabricate data, and conjure up untrue allegations to manipulate public sentiment against government

Over the course of his political career since resigning from Petronas and subsequent employment, it can be summarised that 90% of his allegations are not truthful and even the ones with some pinch of truth are usually blown out of proportion.

This is not healthy politics and both the public and authorities should punish practitioners of such destructive politics. It is as bad as supporting Bersih 5.0, in which documentary roofs recently revealed are working hand in glove with George Soros.

The public should be reminded of Mahathir's vocal attack against Soros and foreigners interference in Malaysian politics.

That was the era before he betrayed his own Mahathirism principles for sake of Mukhriz.

Latest: TABUNG HAJI ANSWER RAFIZI!

How embarassing!

Seriously, ICAEW should review Rafizi's accounting qualification. His allegations made in public reflects badly on the quality of their accredition.

TN50, China trip and Soros mark the dissolution of Mahathirism

$

As per everything in Malaysia, the success of any initiative will depend on the plan and more importantly, implementation. Civil servants had always slackened in control and monitoring. Nevertheless, it unfair and repeating past dogmatic mistake to pre-judge any out of the ordinary effort.

The world today is, not just significantly a different environment from the past, but a whole new ecosystem is emerging. It requires new ways of seeing, and thinking. And it need be stressed that the ways and means for success have to be must totally different.

Being indifferent to present reality will lead to failure. Reminiscing over past glory is a sure recipe for disaster. Dato Najib was referring to the leader, the wolf pack he leads and his new associate by mentioning the keyword "move on" as he introduced TN50 in his budget speech.

In a brilliant strategic move, Najib ignored the one-issue political agitators to make a historic visit to China on the third day of budget debate. It moved the debate away despite attempt to tie it back.

In the meanwhile, the leak, that turned a potential landslide into what looks to be a disastrous ending to Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, exposed her corporate confidante, George Soros and embarrassed his allies in Tun Dr Mahathir.

TN 50

Mahathir could only play ignorant to claim to not understand transformation. Obviously, he is easily upset with any tampering with his legacy, dynasty and crony.

The successor to his dynasty could only give a layman argument to negate the announcement by speculating on the  intention. So did his renewed political associate and daughter. And, his academic mouthpie cum political surrogate too.

While, Dato Ibrahim Ali just didn't get it. Off course, he has distanced himself from Mahathir.

Mahathir must accept that Vision 2020 was a manifestation of the failure of Mahathirism. The idea government or more precisely, himself could have a tight grip on everything - government, people, ruler and business - has run its course.

He can apply his Machivellian political prowess to temporarily divert the public from facing reality. Social trend, globalisation and geo-global politics makes it impossible to sustain. He need to outlive the population to stop them from seeking change.

Mahathirism is not without its strength in a deeply rooted sense of patriotism and nationalism. It is a nation building pursuit and to instill national pride as depicted by the "Malaysia Boleh" slogan.

Problem is it is not possible to have anything a developed nation have in a sort span of time without concern for viability and sustainability.

Too much national pride without deliverable will left one with only ego. The backbone of its policies lies in Malay-centric affirmation action policies but it is not sustainable in a political environment where UMNO is losing grip on power at Mahathir's own doing.

Mahathir failed in his implementation of NEP. By the time he left, Malay wealth increased infinitesimally when compared to where Tun Razak left off.

Marred by corruption, cronyism and nepotism, Mahathir had to deceive the Malay into thinking it was 20% or some insider claimed it was a lower, 18% by including state run companies and fund. Lim Teck Ghee was way off.

Time to move on and out of his endless deception. TN50 is about "soaring upward" to look at Malaysia beyond 2020 to prepare for the youth of today and the elders'anak and cucu.

It is the move beyond 2020 that he offer the opportunity to the youth of today to contribute. By 2050, the youth today will be the elders and the rest of us long gone. They are the majority voters and 65% of today's population.

Mahathir generation and the later ones are on declining relevance and should move aside. Instead of the thinking from another Nordin Sophie, Najib given Khairy Jamaluddin to take the lead to gather the colours and together paint the future for the beneficiary of the plan. That will be the 2016-2020 phase.

It is a slap in the face to Mukhriz. Joceline view it as "a Machiavellian touch on the part of Najib".

It is Khairy's opportunity to do substantive work worthy of his Oxbridge academic and beyond photo op and selfie. He should not squander. Husni Hanazlah is an unmentioned example of failure to deliver and communicate.

Najib is a blue blooded gentleman and would not stoop to the pariah politics of typical Keling. He still gave the respect and diplomatically said Vision 2020 will remain a target.

Only it is not in the way of Mahathir's developed nation pipe dream of pyramid building and ignoring those outside Klang Valley, particularly Sabah and Sarawak. Malaysia would achieve develop nation status by 2020 but in accordance to United Nation definition and in an inclusive manner.

Historic China trip

Before the argument TN50 is merely to whitewash a budget that will fall short in it's revenue projection could hold water, Najib had left for China.

He witnessed the historic signing of 14 agreements valued at RM144 billion. It was so "yuge", to quote a potential next US President. Some of the projects have been talked about. It is believed there is many more to come that it could reached RM250 billion.

That puts a stop to the argument against the budget. FDI is obviously the answer.

As it is, China investment in Malaysia stands at RM15 billion. Dato Seri Liow Tiong Liow was quoted saying, "This visit will see a lot of ‘firsts’ between Malaysia and China. We are going to sign 16 G-to-G MoUs and more than 15 business-to-business MoUs."

The proudest will be for his Ministry as it was announced China will be the constructing and financing the RM55 billion East Coast Rail Line.

In this biggest deal ever with China, the construction will be awarded to government-owned China Construction Communications Company. There will be 20-year soft loan from China's Exim Bank at a "competitive rate" with no interest and repayment for first 7 years. The project is for over 5-year and is schedule to start next year [read The Star here].

Najib wrote in the China Daily that all the achievement are "fruit harvested from the seed of trust' between Zhou En Lai and our true statesman, Tun Abdul Razak. It culminated into the 1974 trip that was before Richard Nixon met Mao Tse Tong.

In an interview with Xinhua agency, Najib used "strong and stable", "as a true friend and a strategic partner"and "it continuously improves and reaches new heights" to describe the relation with China. The trip saw not only economic cooperation in trade, investment, energy, industrial development, infrastructure, and others.

But also in defense, education and technological innovation.

Malaysia made a significant change to procure four Littoral Mission Ships from China. It will be completely built within 24 months through joint-venture and off-budget funding through savings from the RMN 15-5 Armada Transformation Programme

In the light of territorial tension with China, it was seen by US media CNN as "significant" and NY Times view as an act to miffed at US. Though blown up as Malaysia pivot towards China due to strained relation related to 1MDB, security analysts insisted Malaysia has not tilt away from US.

With DOJ lynch-ed, one should not shrugged anything off and expect the unexpected

This is Admiral Najib sailing through sea of hostilities with diplomacy as his stealth destroyer. Not withstanding, diplomacy could increase imports of oil palm from Malaysia and directly benefit rakyat.

If US reject TPP, there is likely China could be invited into the new trade block. Thanks to Donald Trump, BRIC could come of age earlier than expected.

One Belt, One Road

Najib's transformation plan may have attracted critics from the comfortably complacent, but diplomacy is an area he has surpassed Mahathir. More things are achieved through diplomacy and friendship than a foul mouth.

The old man's ego must be pulverised to shreds. After all his effort to discredit Najib internationally,  Xi Jinping, gave Najib the highest state honours and displays a warm personal relationship rarely seen with other leaders.

And the old man is left with political argument only appreciated by a crowd of country bumpkin forever awed and sold by his deception in some corner of Kedah .

Likely led by newly appointed exco member, Dato Kadir Jasin, the Protoons have been bandying around "Najib jual negara kepada China". Indirectly, the DAP's political partner could not shed the age old Mahathirism argument to accuse the trip as another Najib's pro-Chinese policy.

Kadir should dig up his old writings that defended Mahathir's borrowing of Yen loans. From 1969 to 2001, Malaysia was the biggest recipient of Japanese ODA at RM26.39 billion. [Read here, here, here and here].

It left the country up to the neck to repay the currency that appreciated from 240 to the dollar to 180 in a few years. Mahathir's first hit in the currency market that had currency traders sniggering. Later he found a scapegoat in George Soros. Today Yen is 103.00 to the dollar.

If the worry is China as a superpower, was it not Japan that invaded Malaya during World War II?

Occidental history is based on colonialism, imperialism, racism and slavery. So dealing with superpower is best left to skillful diplomat and not to some foul mouth old man that has passed sell date.

Apparently the sell-out argument came from CIA-PKR collaboration, the news portal Asia Sentinel and the piece, Desperate to Survive, Malaysia’s PM Sells his Country to China by Philip Bowring. Mahathir sold his soul to an enemy of the state.

DAP, the once infested with subversive operative Chinese party, was too shy and got their Indian minion to accuse Najib as putting country at risk. It is a manifestation of an age long animosity between the mainlanders and off-shore Chinese seldom described as banana - yellow outside and white inside.

If so, why then DAP Penang government became a recipient and collaborated with Chinese companies like China Harbour Engineering Company Group. Penang government gave the land reclamation contract to CCCC in 2015

It was Sarawak Report in July that raised the allegation of fraud by CCCC elsewhere. In an effort to scuttle the ECRL deal, they claimed it was jacked up from RM30 billion.

Liow's deputy refuted SR's allegation as argued by Bayan Lepas's Sim Tze Tsin as overpriced using  simplistic arithmetic. The opposition was also demanding the not-the-practise disclosure of the FS and FID.

Contrary to Tony Pua's parroting of SR, ECRL was knocked down from RM70 billion and comparatively not over priced.

It would be foolish of Malaysia not to pursue the opportunity from China's ambitous masterplan. Indonesia is clamouring for China's infrastructure fund to be part of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. Malaysia will benefit as part of the One Belt, One Road strategy of Xi Jianping. [read here]

Tan Sri Zeti was recently appointed on the Board of Advisor of AIIB that was established for that pursuit. Why should Malaysia look from the side and not participate in the Asian Century under China's leadership?

Najib's infrastructure plan is beyond Mahathir's that only stretches through the choicest real estate. The spending for PLUS then was multiple the amount spend on roads by JKR since the days of Tun Razak but covers a limited stretch and contributed to ever rising transport cost till today.

If executed properly, Najib's transformation will bring development and promote economic activities throughout the country and not focused in the urban areas. Any rakyat willing to work and hard will have a piece of the economic pie and not only to whom Mahathirism allow.

Cavorting with Soros

Xi Jian Peng is man of integrity and made anti-graft the cornerstone of his administration. Within this year, Xi reprimanded a high military official that could politically retaliate.

If a man resolve to fight corruption could be seen him in cordial conversation with Najib while he is left cavort with Soros, the rogue trader he vilified and bread and butter is the financial gain from destabilising governments and "regime change", it must be nerve wrcking.

The ever envious Singapore's Straits Times speculated the trip as Najib seeking China as saviour for SRC. If Duterte could mend ties with China and benefit from it, is there a 1PDB or SPC?

The opposition have been ridiculously arguing the same to create personal link to every leader Najib meet at official visit abroad. As LSS bluntly posed in his FB:
Are you pushing a pro-USA or anti-China agenda now?
"The Asia Pacific remains a high growth region with the notable exception of Japan and Singapore whose economies are actually contracting," he remarked.
"Curiously, Asia Pacific nations allied to the US are contracting faster than non-aligned states. South Korea's economy is slowing down while Taiwan's economic survival will depend on China,"
"The 'Pivot to Asia' should be understood within this backdrop. One by one, Asia Pacific nations are seeing no economic value in being allied to the United States, and they are opting out of the US geo-economic and geopolitical orbits. The Philippines — once penciled as a military anchor of the US pivot — has peremptorily aligned itself with China despite the lingering maritime disputes between them.
Again, what good does sabotaging the Malaysia-China ties do for you or for Malaysia?
More so, China was the white knight for Edra and could list CGN by 2017.

Husni asked why China will only pay in 2020. The answer is thanks a million to Bank Negara, SC,  Mahathir, Tony Pua, Rafizi, Clare Brown, Sarawak Report, The Edge, Nazir Razak and the list is long for railroading 1MDB. They hated China but had just made them instantly richer. It could have been Malaysia's.

As Mahathir did before with Jack Abram to meet George Bush, he paid lobbyist to get US Attorney General, Loretta Lynch to file the Kleptocrasy case against those he could link to Najib.

Loretta and DOJ got lynch-ed for intervening with FBI investigation into Hillary's e-mail, and allegation of settlement for donation to Clinton Foundation. Hillary's campaign is as claimed by US political pundit, as good as over. Only saving grace will be if the decided not change their mind.

Will the biggest Kleptocrasy case turned out to be the biggest embarassment to DOJ? To be seen ....

Mahathir claimed both candidates are terrible. And Matthias Chang can continue to curse Hillary for the war in the Middle East and accused Hillary as agent of China. He is closely associated with Global Research and anti-Hillary think tank.

It does not hide the fact that Mahathir's new found association with George Soros will link him to  Hillary and Lynch. Soros is somewhat of an ideologue to Hillary. And his collaboration with Hillary is contained in the investigated emails.

Soros was revealed recently by DC Leak in a document called the Malaysia Program to bring democratic change to Malaysia through Bersih using color revolution modus operandi. The document clearly mentioned using network of our network to target the outcome of the next election.

Quiet a few organisation have been receiving funds from Soros, including Bersih, Malaysiakini and Bar Council. It is one the reason political funding for political parties and NGO too need be legislated.

If receiving money from OSF is not wrong as Zaid Ibrahim claimed, why are they quiet and afraid? Pointless for Suaram's diversion attempt. Will there be a Bersih 5.0 on October 19th?

If only it is publicly known, be it Bersih or red shirt, it is only someone's money making scam.

Soros may have denied funding to overthrow government and claimed opposition to Islamophobe but he is known for bringing down government. He would later turned up as carpetbagger investors buying bargains to be sold for easy risk free profit later and donate some to Hillary.

Open Society Foundation is part of the instrument of Council of Foreign Relation and works closely with Hillary's State Department.

Malaysia's representative in OSF is John Pang, a con-artist claiming to be Senior Fellow of Rajaratnam School of Government with hardly a written article found on the web.

He used to formerly worked with Nazir Razak and Tengku Razaleigh, and lobbied Obama to distance from Najib.

Mahathir is distancing from the China he built relation throughout his administration. He is already in the loop of US covert op. Will that mean he will be working closely with Soros, indirectly, Hillary for a while and maybe, Israel too?

Not a proud ending to a legacy.

Between the Crooked and the Cheat

Polling booth was already opened for early voters last week. But today or according to the American time zone, tonight will be the polling day for the US presidential election.

There are also election for state governor, and senate and congress seats.

One report from Sydney Australia by Reuters placed Clinton chance of winning by 90%. An earlier NYT reported Clinton has solid lead in the electoral collage. Trump must win Florida to survive.

Various latest national polls conducted shows a close race with her leading by 1-5%. It is within 3% margin or error so it is still a toss-up.

Clinton was down from double digit points lead, after the genital grabbing audio release, due to FBI statement to re-investigate Clinton's e-mails.

It makes no difference to Malaysia as to who wins.

As a common American joke would have it, it is good news that the election is finally over. But the bad news is we have a new president.

Basically saying, everything will remain the same and the country will continue in the same rut down the tube into the sinkhole.

But what is unfathomable is the overzelous and emotional campaign by a Mahathir high priest or mullah preacher.

Hear the mullah preach unedited:
The black dumb ass Obama calling for illegals to vote in the presidential election as warned by me yesterday has gone viral in USA notwithstanding MSM efforts to suppress the news. So tell me, malaysians who still support the bitch Killary, why would she do that if she and Obama was confident of winning? Therefore am I not right in saying the election is rigged?

You arseholes better stop yr nonsense and stop supporting his bitch for it will be used by Najib against you. So when illegals are allowed to vote in Malaysia (if there is an election, not likely) our enemies will say "F... YOU! WHY ARE YOU FREAKING COMPLAINING WHEN YOU OPENLY SUPPORTED KILLARY EVEN WHEN YOU KNEW SHE AND OBAMA WAS USING ILLEGALS TO RIGGED THE ELECTIONS. SHUT THE F.... UP, YOU MORONS! "
How would you reply you dumb arses to this assertion? You shitholes have no ground to stand on. Final warning. Walk away from the criminal bitch, condemn her or be accused and judged as practicing Double Standards. NO MORE CORRUPTION REGARDLESS WHERE IT IS HAPPENING.
Sorry if he comes out as a deranged man. WYSIWYG or more accurately, what we see is what you get.

Mahathir likes these kind of people around him. How do one make out someone preaching Islam to Muslim but is a non-believer. However, it is not about difference of faith but the hypocrasy is he is supporting a Cheat over a Crooked.

To the American, they are limited by choice. However, the Mullah choice of support in Malaysia is strange. He has no problem to support a Cheat, who never play politics fairly.

And, the Cheat is also Crooked. According to Barry Wain, an author and former WSJ reporter, he supported someone who swindeled US$100 billion of public money and dare not sue for more than 6 years.

Lets set aside the Trump's pussy grabbing episode, his racist comments, comedic acts, etc, but hear this You Tube of The Cheat that the preacher support:

Former independent US presidential candidate and consumer advocate, Ralph Nader called him a freeloader:

The psychology of his supporters is interesting, somewhat like the pro-tun:

According to the survey, both candidates cannot be trusted but Tan Sri Munir Majid lamented the possibility he gets elected:
How did he – Trump – get there?

by MUNIR MAJID

WHATEVER happens in the United States Presidential election next Tuesday, the Donald Trump phenomenon is the strongest signal coming out of America.

It is not just an aberration, something transient, but a disturbing condition which is a bad omen for the future of the country and America’s leading position in the world.

The sustained support he has obtained on base and isolationist arguments represents a substantial part of the American people.

The erudite analyses on how Trump has got to where he has, many of which look at the sorry state of the Republican Party that nominated him, miss the point of the malady in the society at large. Indeed the bitterness, anger and attitudes Trump has been able to galvanise precisely sneer and snort at these kinds of analyses which do not get it.

The intellectuals are talking among themselves, as they always have done, whereas Trump actually talks and reaches out to the people below. The intellectuals, like the elites generally, are the ones who are isolated.

Read more in The Star here.
Anything happen in America would affect the world and us.

Wouldn't it be better that it be the end of orang putih colonialist, their cruel occidental history and their influence on us?

The other option, Clinton is Crooked, as Trump described:

Crooked they have been for quite sometime. See this ABC News video here.

FBI made a latest statement after claims of infringement of the Hatch Act. Enforcement agencies are to lay off any investigation and make statement on investigation of candidates during campaign period for reason it could sway the outcome of elections.

But, the damage is done from the earlier statement below:

One poll was asked on the reasons they favour one candidate over another.

On matter of economy, the poll favoured Trump.

Then on nuclear code, the poll favoured Hillary but it is about even on foreign policy. Trump's message that Hillary's foreign policy was a "disaster" did sink in.

Hillary is favoured on public policy.

Again, it does not matter to Malaysian as to who will win.

But it matters when Mahathir begin to emulate Trump-style in campaign to ignore criticism, deny his past record and at times, thin skinned to lash out at everyone.

No wonder Matthias Chang supported Trump. Though Mahathir is indifferent to both as if he is anti American, but his people favour Trump.

Now that he is in cohort with Soros, he asked to ignore Soros and focus to bring down Najib.

Is Soros not the ideologist and agenda setter for Hillary?

Trump to rid off ISIS immediately

Hillary Clinton conceded and Donald Trump was elected the 45th US President. In his acceptance speech, he said he promised to rid off ISIS immediately.

So he will be briefed tomorrow at the Oval Office by CIA, Pentagon and FBI.

He is expected to make the directive.

Trump: We must destroy ISIS immediately. No delays.

CIA: We cannot do that, sir. We created them along with Turkey, Saudi, Qatar and others.

Trump: The Democrats created them.

CIA: We created ISIS, sir. You need them or else you would lose funding from the natural gas lobby.

Trump: Stop funding Pakistan. Let India deal with them.

CIA: We can't do that.

Trump: Why is that?

CIA: India will cut Baluchistan out of Pak.

Trump: I don't care.

CIA: India will have peace in Kashmir. They will stop buying our weapons. They will become a superpower. We have to fund Pakistan to keep India busy in Kashmir.

Trump: But you have to destroy the Taliban.

CIA: Sir, we can't do that. We created the Taliban to keep Russia in check during the 80s. Now they are keeping Pakistan busy and away from their nukes.

Trump: We have to destroy terror sponsoring regimes in the Middle East. Let us start with the Saudis.

Pentagon: Sir, we can't do that. We created those regimes because we wanted their oil. We can't have democracy there, otherwise their people will get that oil - and we cannot let their people own it.

Trump: Then, let us invade Iran.

Pentagon: We cannot do that either, sir.

Trump: Why not?

CIA: We are talking to them, sir.

Trump: What? Why?

CIA: We want our Stealth Drones back. If we attack them, Russia will obliterate us as they did to our buddy ISIS in Syria. Besides we need Iran to keep Israel in check.

Trump: Then let us invade Iraq again.

CIA: Sir, our friends (ISIS) are already occupying 1/3rd of Iraq.

Trump: Why not the whole of Iraq?

CIA: We need the Shi'ite govt of Iraq to keep ISIS in check.

Trump: I am banning Muslims from entering US.

FBI: We can't do that.

Trump: Why not?

FBI: Then our own population will become fearless.

Trump: I am deporting all illegal immigrants to south of the border.

Border patrol: You can't do that, sir.

Trump: Why not?

Border patrol: If they're gone, who will build the wall?

Trump: I am banning H1B visas.

USCIS: You cannot do that.

Trump: Why?

Chief of Staff: If you do so, we'll have to outsource White House operations to Bangalore. Which is in India.

Trump (sweating profusely by now): What the hell should I do as President???

CIA: Enjoy the White House, sir. We will take care of the rest!

In a strange twist of event, Dato Ambiga accused the US presidential election rigged.

In reaction to his tumbling poll arising from the pussy grabbing revelation, Trump accused the election rigged against him.

Ambiga will open an American chapter of Bersih and organise a series of Bersih US version rallies to fight for Hillary.

No kidding. Serious view later.

Don't cry for America, Move to the Asian Century

The American people have spoken and the new American President is Donald Trump.

Trump campaign hardly spelled out specific plan so it made financial market rather nervous as stock market and dollar fell upon expectation Trump was to win the election.

Market buy or sell on uncertainty and unwind upon facts. Both markets have rebounded in Asian time zone this morning as players reassess the impact of Trump on business and economy.

However it is a different reaction on the political front. There was the customary congratulatory message from world leaders, including our PM dubbed by Trump as his favourite PM.

But there are tinge of nervousness in their language, especially nations mentioned in his campaign. Generally they are worried of the direction of American foreign policies.

He did say why have nuclear when it is not used. Will US troop withdraw from Europe and elsewhere unless being paid? South Korea cabinet convened a special meeting to discuss Trump victory.

Around the world, people are aghast with the decision of American voters. Too much uncertainty.

Trump read the text to give the usual "lets unite" speech. The reaction on the ground in America is not conciliatory.

In America and all over the world, people are still in a state of shock.

At the time of posting, there are protests against Trump in front of Trump Tower in New York City and more than 7 cities in the US.

Protestors acknowledged the democratic process that entitled him to the presidency but they want the rights to be heard.

They could not grasp the reality that voters, via electoral college system, were not looking at the high ideals that Clinton preached.

The main issue to Trump.voters is economics and jobs. Trump voters of 87% whites are fed-up with the political establishment. Despite his personal shortcomings, they saw in Trump, an outsider who will try to fix things.

A reminder to Malaysian voters. Voice of the majority segment of population cannot be ignored. Which segment are you seeking for support?

As mentioned in passing in past posting in this blog, the Brexit phenomenon in the UK was that of common folks voices and concerns have out voted the learned, urban and globalist again.

If Trump win ilhas made it a trend, though some say it is racism driven, the Brexit phenomenon could happen in Malaysia.

Hillary won the popular votes but it was Trump that won the electoral colleges by 60, and took the majority battleground and swing states and more.

The media and polls never saw it coming. The media is desperately trying to console the public with the message Trump has been chosen and as Hillary said, he should be given a chance.

If the dissatisfaction continue to linger, the US will be heading towards a permanent division along partisan line, generation, gender, race, religion and sexuality. It is the same agitation to divide and "conquer" by US operatives to bring about destruction wherever in the world the American poke their finger into including Malaysia.

DC Leak recently exposed documents of Soros-led operations to throw the Malaysian government in the next general election.

With Tun Dr Mahathir so gung ho and determined to bring Dato Najib down to the point of doing his own "as low as one can go" Trump politics, he is ever willing to cooperate with American covert operator in the country.

Matthias Chang has promised so in his latest message as published by Rocky Bru here.

Trump politics divided the nation and placed Mexican and Latinos, Blacks, Muslims, women, liberals, immigrants, and all those mentioned in his campaign into a state of fear.

He wants immediate actions on ISIS. Can he do so once he is in the system?

Will he build the wall to stop immigrants from crossing the border to the US? Will no Muslims allowed to enter the US? Will all the talk of extreme vetting be carried out? And the list goes on. [Read anti-Hillary Global research here.]

He wants to rid off Obamacare without any "wonderful" plan spelled out yet.

It won't be that easy but Trump being Trump - thin-skinned, stubborn, prideful, vengeful, heartless, and schemer - it could happen. The Americans allowed him to get away without releasing his tax returns.

There are a thousand reasons why Trump should not be President but Clinton far outweigh in the trust category. Its FBI investigation on her e-mails that knocked the final nail to her long illustrous career in public service.

Will Trump pursue her or in politically correct words, in which he should be learning, allow the independence of law enforcement and judiciary?

There was a lot said during the campaign and that became the attraction to his rallies that far out number Clinton. Different people will hold him accountable to honour for different words.

To quote the Hollywood line, "we are in for a bumpy ride".

The election campaign revealed America is not a great country anymore. It is heavily in debt. The economy is in a mess. It's losing control of strategic industry. And it's economic leadership in the world is waning.

It will take time for Trump to setttle in. He will only be taking his oath of office in January. Trump alone cannot turn around the mess build up over decades since another Republican, Richard Nixon.

In the meantime, there is uncertainty in the direction of the American policies on economy, immigration, foreign policy, military, middle east, tax, public health insurance, and more.

The judiciary will be in limbo as there will also be a new Attorney General. It is something Malaysians are keeping an eye on, especially October 28th deadline for defendents to submit defense has long passed. With the silence by all parties concerned, something is not right?

Trump will have the chance to nominate two Federal Court judge thus making Republican control the Presidency, Senate, Congress and Federal court.

The Democrat can be at peace. If the country is in a disaster, it is happening under the Grand Ole Party (GOP).

With much uncertainty on the part of the Americans, it is a good move by Najib to make the hedge with China.

Opposition is working over time at discrediting the historic visit to raise petty and ridiculous short sighted pennies and dimes issues with regard to the ECRL and impact to the national debt. Someone up there must do their work to explain the multiplier effect to the economy.

If it is made available to Malaysia, there are only two sources of money in the world to enable us to build the necessary infrastructure to be a developed nation today; the American-Jewish financier or Chinese.

No others.

The American-Jewish choice comes with a long list of conditions. They may be more civil, courteous, and perhaps speaking like English or Bostonian gentleman, but occidental history is marred with centuries of invasions, destruction, slavery, and exploitation.

China is also a superpower but their military ambition are limited to near their border. The South China Seas arise out of strategic and commercial need to protect their sea route from the incursive American pivot policy.

Both are superpowers and outside our capability to take them on. So Malaysia has to be smart and be active in the world of diplomacy. We need to make friends than follow the ways of the old loud mouth more interested with preserving his legacy, dynasty and cronies.

There is more predictability in dealing with American. At least, they play by a certain rule. But America is on the other side of the globe and too far away. Their military might get easily beaten by body bags of their sons and few daughters returned to be buried.

American diplomacy have not bear into investment into the country of late. The last time Obama came to Malaysia only RM1 billion investment could be secured. What is not known is Obama sent his people to Putrajaya to secure investment for the redevelopment of Detroit and lobbying solar project work.

One trip to China could bear us RM144 billion and many hundreds of billion to come.

Trump promised to cancel TPPA and will likely lead America inward into isolation. Cost cutting businessman mindset and more so, the Republican free market economic ideology will not solve their twin deficit in the near term and bring them closer to the tipping point.

He want to make America great again but how? No one knows yet but we know America may not be stronger together but a divided nation.

Why wait and hope on these orang putih when we have the Asian Century ahead of us? Have they not plundered us enough?

The fault, dear Brutus, is .... ourselves

“The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves, that we are underlings.”

― William Shakespeare, Julius Caesar (I, ii, 140-141)
Extract taken from e-notes here, below:
Cassius, a nobleman, is speaking with his friend, Brutus, and trying to persuade him that, in the best interests of the public, Julius Caesar must be stopped from becoming monarch of Rome.

Brutus is aware of Caesar's intentions, and is torn between his love of his friend Caesar and his duty to the republic. Cassius continues by reminding Brutus that Caesar is just a man, not a god, and that they are equal men to Caesar. They were all born equally free, and so why would they suddenly have to bow to another man?

On another level this phrase has been interpreted to mean that fate is not what drives men to their decisions and actions, but rather the human condition.
Surely, it is not the intention to persuade others to resort to assassination or any acts of violence, but to look really deep within us and make that honest and rationale assessment before leveling blames on others for the trouble and misery of today.

If one is honest enough in the assessment, seldom it turned out to be our own fault.

This FMT opinion piece by TK Chua, claimed as an FMT reader but former writer with Sin Chew Jit Poh is refreshingly honest:
The fault, dear Malaysians, lies in ourselves

Our problems we face are so “man-made”, ranging from sabotage, pilferage, corruption, exploitation, profiteering, smuggling, arbitrage, cheating, taxes, wasteful spending to meagre wages.

COMMENT

By T.K. Chua

Why are we running everything to the ground?

Today it is about cooking oil shortages and the use of recycled bottles to pack cooking oil. Earlier it was water rationing. I am sure most of us have, at one time or another, experienced inconveniences such as a shortage of diesel, sugar, flour, eggs, chicken, beef, rice, and other essentials.

It is strange that as one of the most “governed” countries in the world, we always run short of this and that. Just look at the numbers of regulating agencies and enforcement officers we have. They don’t seem to make much of a difference when compared with other countries with no such outfits.

I am not talking about natural catastrophes here like floods, typhoons and earthquakes that cause supply disruptions. The problems we face are so “man-made”, ranging from sabotage, pilferage, corruption, exploitation, profiteering, smuggling, arbitrage, cheating, taxes, wasteful spending to meagre wages.

Take any problem we face today and I am sure you can pick out the relevant factors highlighted here.

Don’t blame industrialisation or population growth for water contamination and disruption of potable water supply. It is an issue very much related to incompetence, corruption or even sabotage. Two weeks ago it was Semenyih River, today it is Linggi River. When will this baloney end?

Don’t blame the various subsidy programmes for the people but our inability to manage smuggling, corruption, arbitrage, and collusion between business people and public officials. How did subsidies end up benefiting foreigners, exporters and those who are in the position to arbitrage rather than the consumers?

Don’t blame the GST per se. It is our inability to manage prices which have escalated beyond the GST rates, again due to incompetence, cheating and profiteering.

Don’t blame toll rates, electricity tariffs, parking charges, Internet access fees, and university tuition. It is our inability to regulate and control monopolies, collusion and exploitation.

Don’t blame falling oil prices on our fiscal woes. It is our profligate and extravagant ways. Ministers and senior officials get too much perks and privileges. Government contractors, suppliers and consultants get too much profit and compensation for doing little.

We have a big national budget but it delivers only a small output, if you get what I mean. We pump in more money, but there is no corresponding increase in goods and services.

Don’t blame our high cost living on lack of price control or enforcement alone. It is the falling value of our ringgit. Price control and enforcement can’t enhance the value of the ringgit, but proper monetary policy management, including appropriate interest rates, money supply, efficiency and productivity can.

Don’t blame stringent loan conditions imposed by banks, blame low income or income decoupled from prices of homes and cars. Loans are not incomes. We are only postponing the problem if we dish out loans to borrowers who have no means of paying it back.

Don’t blame the US Presidential election or Trump as incoming president. These are mere excuses for global excesses to realign and to find their fundamental levels. The centre of gravity has shifted. US power and influence have waned. Trump will not make a significant difference.

The US is just a “bottomless pit” of consumers and a supplier of US Dollars. Has anyone visited China lately?

We must get the fundamentals right: the rest will fall in place.

T.K. Chua is an FMT reader

It was only few days back that someone vented out his frustration. It is time to tell these naive and ignorant people to do as they stupidly prefer.

If Singapore and Penang, even Kelantan and Selangor are not glaring enough as examples, the corruption, nepotism, and cronyism of the past that become a financial burden today is not good enough a lesson, and the insidious manouvre for legacy, dynasty and crony in perpetuity is not obvious enough to be seen, let them undergo the bitter and painful, likely irreversible experience.

What is happening today are mountain of problems from the past swept out of our sight only to appear and blamed it as others fault.

GST-complaining Malaysian deserve Australian as taxman

$
0
0

Malaysian have been comfortably evading taxes for years that when government had to urgently act to redress public finances due to sharp decline in oil revenues, there was much hue and cry from the public.

To quote from The Star's Veera Pandian, whose whose giving attention to a Malaysian facing tax issue abroad, evading taxes "means not paying taxes, under-reporting incomes, filing fake expenses or hiding tax liabilities."

The rampant smuggling out of subsidised food and fuel had only come to light to Malaysians recently. However over decades of neglect, the loss of income of subsidies, and taxes of illegal importing and exporting of goods in and out of the country could run in the hundreds of billion of ringgit.

Lucky for Malaysians that the IRD, unlike their ruthless foreign counterpart, is friendly and accommodating. The legendary and infamous Chicago mob, Al Capone was not brought down by competing gang or police but aggressive and commited tax collectors.

Our end of September posting here on an all out effort by the Australian Tax Office (ATO) on a Malaysian-domiciled business tycoon to forcibly collect tax on foreigner saw a development and gaining attention.

ATO demanded taxes on income of timber tycoon, Sir Hii Yii Ann from business outside Australia, which could be taxes paid to Malaysia instead, by conveniently declaring that he is an Australian tax-resident.

Hii's children and estranged wife resides in Brisbane. But common phenomenon among Malaysians, he is only a visitor. His visiting time hardly exceed and in fact, have been on the decline to the immigration resident requirement of 180 days a year.

Hii has taken his issue with the ATO directly and in court. It seemed the way the tax collection in Australia works it is "collect first and talk later".

ATO is, neither waiting for a decision in the court nor bother to heed the legal proceedings. They are adamant to take any immediate action deemed necessary to collect their tax bill, including seeking court order to seize and liquidate Hii's assets abroad. They are already proceeding in Papua New Guinea and Australia.

If that is not arrogant enough, they could not give commitment to not arrest Hii in the midst of court proceeding. Without the assurance, Hii refrained from attending court and a decision was made against him in absence.

That is how powerful the taxman in Australia is. Arrogant is befitting the description since they are not bothered with the possibility court could judge against them, before resorting to drastic action at their own discretion.

With a court decision against him, Hii is a lost cause in Australia and had to consider the option to pursue justice in the Malaysian court.

It is with his hope that the court here could declare that his domicile and tax residence is Malaysia. The Australian could strike out the suit on the basis of sovereignty but that is the risk Hii was willing to take to avoid the devastating domino effect from the uncompromising ATO action.

Under the Double Tax Agreement between Malaysia and Australia, no one person could have more than one domicile. The "tie-breaker" as interpreted by ATO is status of residence and it was made solely at the discretion of the ATO Commissioner.

The ATO ignored the time factor. Hii is considered residence purely because of frequency and regularity of visits to Australia to see his children.

They strengthen their justification using subjective arguements that he maintains residence, postal address, family residence, personal bank accounts and credits cards, health insurance, driving license and various property and business ownership in Australia.

It is unfathomable that a Malaysian have to prove to a foreign authority of his permanent residency, habitual abode, and personal and business ties to his home country.

The case management was yesterday and one can find report in The Mole here, FMT here, and Malaysian Digest here. The next court date is in December.

Commentary by Rocky Bru here who see the implication to other Malaysians with similar arrangement as Hii with property ownership and children studying in Australia.

In view of the Malaysians becoming more global to travel extensively, own homes, do business and investment, and children studying abroad, this is something to be aware off. It only makes their status as residence and tax more complex.

There is a case heard of an Indian student receiving money from his parent from India was deemed taxable by ATO and given a tax bill. Knowing the attitude of certain segment of Australian public towards Asians, the same could happen to any Malaysians.

The more scary part is the indiscretion of ATO to force anyone to pay taxes and pursue them in another country. As told by an Australian, ATO is a closed government service and majority of personnels are without tertiary education.

In this case, as this blog had raised before, tax due to Malaysia could be stolen by another country at the whim and fancy of any tax commissioner to determine and not by some clearly defined and judged law.

It is a lesson to the constantly complaining Malaysians. As anything else in Malaysia, tax collection i.e. GST have become a political issue for the opposition to win influence and votes in the pursuit of power.

If they actually win on the platform to abolish taxes, especially GST and other related taxes, how are they to run government without sufficient revenue.

Strange is the Malaysian psyche that the latest political propaganda is to dispute the rationale that GST was to compensate the RM30 billion loss in oil revenue. Apparently, the GST collected of RM39 billion for 2016 is short by RM9 billion to the loss oil revenue when subtracted by 2014 SST figure of RM18 billion.

More will be collected once GST system stabilise and Husni Hanazlah-linked U costom contractor complete their 16 month over due GST system.

The local taxman is also currently aggressive in their tax collection. Malaysians could likely blame them for performing their duty by punishing the ruling party.

As a reminder, that did not deter the opposition turned ruling party of certain states to stop the course of action taken and in fact, action deemed necessary was more aggressively undertaken than that taken by the previous BN government.
