Discrimination in Putrajaya leads to Omar Ong

Some years back, there was an article on Malaysia Today about discriminatory practices in Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd (PJH), the developer of Putrajaya.

Good thing that the 2010 article can still be found. It ia about PJH staff being sacked enbloc upon the entry of new shareholders KLCC. The strange thing is PJH and KLCC Holdings are subsidiaries of Petronas and it is merely a corporate re-organisation. [Read it here.]

PJH also has some strange ways of doing things, as a blogger The Flying Kick [read here] ranted about the design of a new Masjid of Putrajaya in 2011 that is devoid of Islamic symbolism and looks more like a new age church or highly stylised hangar for Airbus A380.

It seems such strange and discriminatory attitude is also practiced in dishing out contracts for the commercial development of Parcel F which is located next to the Gemilang bridge at Putrajaya.

Strange going-ons

Putrajaya Holdings is now 65% owned by KLCC Holding.

PAS's losing Director of Election for Kuala Besut by-election and "loser" of his lawsuits against Kickdefella and Faisal Robhan bin Ahmad, Dato Husam Musa tried to make an issue of some strange group of owners collectively owning 205 under names presumably registered under CIMB Nominee company. [Read Sinar Harian here]

That issue has to be taken with much salt because it was reported a week before casting of vote for the general election on May 8th 2013. There should be a genuine legitimate reasons.

Taken from Jafri Marican Architects website

The issue to be raised now is about contracts for the commercial development of Parcel F. Details of the planned development can be read in The Edge here

A source explained to us yesterday that the value of the development planned for parcel F is RM1.6 billion. It is divided into 4 sections of about give and take RM400 million each. Eight companies ntered their tenders. It is supposed to be merit based thus there is no issue of four Malay companies and non-Malay companies.

Four sections and eight companies involved. Theoretically, half of those tendering companies should get. Those that qualify should have a bite at the cake. It is enough for everybody.

In March, WCT Berhad announced to Bursa Malaysia that their construction arm managed to secure RM350 million of the Parcel F contract. It could be for one of the section.

[Read in The Malaysian Insiders here.].

WCT is a water-related engineering company and their non-Executive Chairman is Dato Captain (R) Ahmad Sufian.

In June, Astro Awani here reported Pesona Metro (Pesona) had won an RM87 million contracts from PJH but there was for Presinct 2 work. One would wonder what is the relevance of Astro carrying out that news.

It seems that Persona is a Malay front company for Sunway group and perhaps an associate company.

Usually, the real work will be passed on to Sunway's construction arm, Suncon and they merely act as commission agent and justify their existence by doing some contract management.

According to our same source, this Ali Baba company was awarded another section of Parcel F.

Information gathered so far revealed that other companies that also tendered are KUB Malaysia Berhad's construction arm, Hatimuda, Juruteras, Perembun Sdn Bhd., etc. Out of the remaining six companies, two other companies qualified, namely KUB Builders and Perembun Sdn Bhd.

The tender documents clearly stated that lobbying is not allowed but WCT and Pesona aka Sunway had lobbied. By right, they should be disqualified.

There is a famous quote of Mahatma Ghandi. "The world is enough for everybody but not for everybody's greed." For whose greed we do not know but PJH wants to give it all only to WCT and Sunway's Ali Baba company.

In the company's meeting, the other companies tendering the contracts were not given a fair treatment. PJH CEO, Dato Azlan Abdul Karim kept repeating the names of WCT and Sunway.

The listeners felt Azlan was working hard to sway or let's not try to be politically correct, he was imposing his position on other members of the decision making "committee" and Board of Directors.

Of course, one do not need to lobby directly to the PJH people but one can lobby someone higher and in not so obvious manner. That person can exercise his will on the people inside PJH.

After much digging all morning and missing the TPPA Open Day at MITI (no worry we have our spies to act as ears and eyes to attend and inside MITI too), the shovel struck something hard.

Hands of Omar Ong

A high level source inside an agency under the Ministry of Federal Territories, the Perbadanan Putrajaya or Putrajaya Corporation revealed that anything to do with PJH is decided by one Datok masquesrading as a Malay by the name of Dato Omar Mustapha.

It checks out with our source within the Ministry of Federal Territories. The source had just recently left but he damn well knows the crappy going-ons at PJH.

Unfortunately, Omar Mustapha is not Malay but son of a Chinese convert by the name of Mustapha Ong, thus making his real name Omar Ong.

The Oxford graduate in PPE was smart enough to impress and marry a beautiful Malay lass and daughter of a pious Dato. It helps to numb the Malay senses from the fact that he is a Cina kuey (sorry for the slur but it was taught to us by a Chinese).

When she was studying, he was a highly paid consultant with McKinsey and Co. in London. He could afford to lure the lass from other gaping young Malay men (one happens to be also a Dato now) by flashing his money, sportscar and lifestyle.

Despite his liberal disposition after studying at Oxford and now trying to break-up the so-called shackles of NEP, his father Mustapha Ong had put him through a boarding school meant for Bumiputera at the school with a graveyard in front, Sekolah Menengah Sains Muar.

Used to starring at the the dead being buried in the graveyard outside the school fence, the now influential and conniving Omar Ong is keen to replicate those burial ritual. He is making others die with his Rasputanic hallucination of change.

He is very powerful and can arrogantly ridicule and brush aside anyone he see as smaller than his physically challenged height. Rumours say he has CIA link and had undergone training when he was sent for a stinct at the Rooservelt Foundation. A picture of himself next to Air Force One is widely available on the net.

All the power and money one can assume in this temporal world can never buy love. It can buy only whores.

Omar did had kept a sexy Chinese escort service girl at his disposal. He was caught with his "hands in the midst of repeated entering and pulling out of the cookie jar." It cost him his marriage.

Good woman from respectable family cannot tolerate anymore this man who wanted to use chicken as aqiqah for his first born son. Infidelity extinguish the flame and they divorced. She has remarried to a more decent and grounded man.

The grapevine is saying he is now going around, or perhaps now married to a sexy Chinese girl with exposed fair skinned bareback and long slender legs peeking out from a slit in her dress that goes up as high as her armpit.

Can anyone pin down Omar Ong for breaching the tender requirement and entertaining an alleged lobbying by WCT and Sunway? These two companies are owned by Chinaman type owners and probably have gangsters in their payroll.

Omar Ong joined the Board of Directors of Petronas in 2010 and everything has gone topsy turvy. Simply because he abused his access to PM and he throws PM's name around.

By rights, someone so personally close to the PM should not have such formal role in Government and corporate. An advisor should advise and not involve himself  in implementing although he does not ahve a formal role.

Omar Ong is only on the Board of Petronas, but not on the Baord of PJH. He should read the papers sent to him, attend a meeting and decide collectively. Let the Petronas management do the rest.

Since PEMANDU talks a lot of cock on performance and delivery, Omar Ong must not interfere and allow the hierarchy to function and deliver .

The problem is how is anyone to resist when he say PM wants this and this. More so for someone down the line like Azlan, he has no way of checking with PM.

But the problem also is that Azlan is a typical Melayu Liberal with a discriminatory attitude towards Malays. He tend to presume few Malays fail that all Malays are hopeless. Some Chinese do fail, but it is tolerable to him. Not Malay!

If Azlan has such a stereotype view and bias attitude in favour of WCT and Sunway, he could be even a racist albeit to his own race.

The complain on Omar Ong's meddling and discriminatory practices in Petronas is everywhere to be heard. Petronas staff has been making exodus out of the company and refuse to sacrtifice for a relatively low pay to serve the nation with working condition is irrational.

Those inside are co-erce to leave and make way for untested outsiders and lucrative pay package. If they are good, it is fine but what is blatantly seen is that it is reverse discrimination.

When Petronas pay peanut, these people are not willing to join and serve the country. Now that Omar Ong is around implementing policies recklessly at breakneck speed, they are coming in.

At the same time, corruption is on the rise and contracts rigging is heard to be more blatant. Recently, newspaper reported a staff of Petronas was charged for corruption.

The staff and officers can predict who will get contracts in Petronas by merely observing their so-called tendering companies friendliness to ... ahem ahem.

Pencapaian didahulukan?

Pity Dato Najib not able to know all this going-ons on the ground. Even if he tries to go to the ground, it does not come out naturally to our aristocrat-born PM. He should cast aside his gentleman disposition and apply his aristocratic meanness in the right places.

It is to safeguard the nation and rakyat interest. But not the carpet baggers.

Ethic-less in Putrajaya

There was a development in our probe in yesterday's posting on the Omar Ong's manipulatable CEO of Putrajaya Holding Sdn Bhd (PJH).  [Read here]

Someone managed to got in touch with us to highlight that the contract has not been awarded yet. The WCT news linked yesterday [see here] was with regard to Presinct 2 and not Parcel F.  To err is human.

But, the source did confirmed that CEO Dato Azlan is bias towards WCT and Sunway. He is not interested to give others a fair hearing and consideration. Not only that, he intend to give all the four sections to only WCT and Sunway.

That is unethical and that is the issue we wish to raise today. Most of this unethical practise involves Government servants and those holding positions of authorities. It is counterproductive and deviate from the fundamental reason Government give out public work.

Otherwise, Government might as well corporatise JKR into a GLC and give all work to them.

In addition, the source highlighted that Persona Metro is not the only company acting as a front for other construction companies. Securing contracts and then out-sourcing it runs contrary to the slogan "Pencapaian diutamakan."

The technical people inside realised and know that not all companies that enquired on the project had the capability. Some companies with capability were invited but Azlan is too smitten with big companies.

As a short person, he may have the Napolean sydrome of wanting to conquer big things and have big companies kow tow to him. On the same note, he was secretly made subservient to the pestering of another skinny chinky man.

Biasness is unethical.

Cakap Tak Serupa Bikin

In the last election, pro-BN bloggers made legitimate issue with regard to direct negotiation practices in Pakatan's Selangor government. The problem does not lay with direct nego but Pakatan campaigned to stop direct nego.

Direct nego or not, it is not the procedures that one should be concern but the need for ethics in the process of giving out contracts.

If this is a case of a political argument in the mode of Cakap Tak Serupa, it can be an unethical trick used to get around the ethical process of open tender and/or open negotiations.

One friend described his company's ordeal in dealing with Ministry of Finance official. They had tendered in accordance to the specification of the contract. Their pricing strategy was not to go for the highest or lowest but fair profit level but place importance on meeting the specification.

True enough. The company was only fairly priced but they were the one that met the specification and among those that met the specs, as they say, they were the lowest.

Surprise surprise .... it was given to someone that is not the lowest and not fulfilling the spec. So they complained and explained their grievance to a Treasury officials. He agreed that it was a case of Cakap Tak Serupa Bikin and fought for his cause.

The official was cold storage. Our friend's company was blacklisted. These official will deny they shortlisted any companies. They only tell the clerk not accept your proposal and submission.

Sop tulang

One late and best friend, an ex MRSM was working to procure a telecommunication contract from another ex-MRSM friend, a Project Director of a Highway project.

Knowing a friend helps for our late friend. The Project Director knows of our friend, his honesty, diligence and capability. His only problem is money but he is able to raise the funding. So it cuts his time of having to do vetting.

That friendship should end there and professionalism takes over. Our friend went through all the bidding process and won. But, it does not end there.

He described the ordeal as the various stages in a World Cup football competition.

Having passed through the early group matches and won the knockout stages, quarter, semi and final, he should have been declared the champion. But, he had to go through three to four stages of Finals matches with the Project Director's team.

His costing was scrutinised at every line and finally, with leftover meat on the bone for only a sop tulang, he had to face the Final of the Final, the Grand Final. The Project Director said he has to come up with RM300,000 upfront or "they" can't approve. Without which, they will call for a re-tender.

The upfront is a crime and friendship is betrayed. The unethical part is to make others undergo the ordeal. When he finally deserve and compromised a lot for the job, he was not awarded.

He still did the job because his financier and partner needed a job to keep the staff working and paid. The  stakeholder were working for free despite the risk he has to take. The Project Director and his friends is the one having the best of both world - salary for their job and benefit for someone else's risk.

Not sure how the contract ended but the highway is there and operating. It leads to Putrajaya.

Our best friend died and his debt was only recently settled and hopefully, his soul has now found peaceful bliss meant for heaven.

That Project Director went on in life. Now a Haji and a GLC CEO but still squeezing the blood of many more. Under the guise of business and market reality, he is displacing people out of their inhabitants to make way for the lust of rich to have their second or third high priced residents for their mistress and concubine.

The people he will displace are his own Melayu. He could be praying five times a day but he deserve to be condemn to hell.

Bisa diatur Pak

It brings us to our next story of unethical practices in Putrajaya. This one got names.

There was this accrual accounting system project for the Accountant general office. The project name was 1GFMAS. The tender came out last year and it was decided by none other than Treasury. It was made before election when Dato Najib was the caretaker Minister of Finance.

Six put in their tender and prices came in - RM228,843,215, RM278,066,190, RM267,889,228, RM286,888,888, RM327,358,505.00, and RM404,804,248. Sorry no need the sen. The highest RM228.8 million and RM404.8 million.

The budget was found out to be RM214 million. Naturally, the lowest at RM228 million won.

The company is owned by our "old friend" Datuk Dr Hamzah Kassim of Innovative Associates [read back here, here and here], IA Group and the HR group work that gave the Talentcorp idea and probably got the out source work. Many knows that he is just a front because he is funded by some Chinaman.

Everyone in Treasury knows Hamzah Kassim is on Tan Sri Amirsham-chaired NEAC. Naturally he has strong connection and influence in Treasury. His company was not short-listed but he managed to squeek in.

It turn out that he had underquoted the hardware and ancillaries at RM92 million. Voila! Bisa di atur Pak! Or the Indonesian has changed it to Asal Bapak senang.... ?

From the original price of RM228 million, he re-submitted for the item at RM276 million. Apparently, Ministry of Finance approved it as Variantion Order (VO) of nearly RM100 million.

VO is meant for items and work that is not stated in the tender documents and it is usually a billing and need formality of approval. However, MoF people used VO to correct an understated tender.

This is not fair to other companies and taxpayer. Those able to source it at lower cost are denied the opportunity. And the taxpayers had to bear additional cost for someone's "friend." That is not all. It is heard Hamzah Kassim will be selling IA to a Chinese owned Company, Silverlake.

Hamzah Kassim is a capable man and has some level of expertise in his field. He was honoured by his Alma Mater, a private American midwestern college for kids of rich family, Monmouth College. Yet, he has to resort to unethical practise.

What is to become of Malaysia and the future of our children when half past six used to be so powerful and now the ones with reputation and resume could be crooked too?

Someone high up there thinks we are ready to be a developed nation with such sordid third world practices still prevailing. By the time TPPA come in, all of us will get ducked. There will be no bone left for local to chew because we ourselves are not grooming our companies to be competitive.

The message to success is one must know tricks. The trick is to do business unethically with underhanded means. The Malaysian version of Apprective with Tony F wants our future young executive to be sharp in finger piting when something fail. Is that how we want our country to be?

The art of inciting racial hatred

$

Penang Chief Minister and DAP Secretary General,. Lim Guan Eng is in hot soup arising from the prospect of DAP having to reconvene another party election and face the prospect of 753 angry Indian and other DAP delegates overthrow the Lim family.

The false CEC is considering of passing the buck to ROS for the convenience of turning it into a political issue to blame them later when DAP is deregistered. It is not far fetch to expect DAP leaders to label ROS as UMNO stooge to sabotage DAP. Hopefully, both Chinese and gullible non-Chinese will hate UMNO further.

It is a typical of political opportunist and promoter of politics of hatred.

Propaganda

Our gullible cousins, who has only recently found political awakening, fell for such tricks. He has personal issues to hate UMNO and support oppositions, but he cannot substantiate it and make assumptions based on unproven allegation like blackout at a vote counting centre.

The same repeated style of twisting has always been the hallmark of DAP in their propaganda to incite irrational public anger towards government and ruling party. It has been around for more than 50 year and used during the communist insurgency since the 1940s.

Since it is a propaganda, DAP and opposition have no qualms to lie and fabricate false accusation. They usually lob a ball the Government-side for an answer or explanation. Seldom they ignore the explanation and answer when given. Then, continue with their unsubstantiated lies and false accusation.

The DAP classic is Teoh Beng Hock.

All the falsehood are there to see  including propagating an assessment by a weird looking forensic doctor from Thailand that it 80% sure of murder based on only photos. Her statement and submission to the coroner tells a different picture.

When they are consumed with hate and distrust fanned by irresponsible politicians, no facts and rational explanation presented will convince them.

They just refuse to give a listen and keep replaying the same debunked doubt-raising arguments like a warp CD. When asked for specifics (like our encounter after buka puasa last night), they can't produce one and insist with their unsubstantiated doubt.

When there is an issue or hint of an issue, they blow it out proportion.

Like communist propagandist of the past, their eyes and ears are forever looking mistakes and non-issue to be turned into racial issues.

The recent toilet turned temporary canteen is an example. The premise was used by students and teachers but was blown up into a racial issue on Indians using a picture of non Muslim student eating during fasting month.

Deputy Minister for Education, Kamalanathan may have erred a little initially but he was quick to correct his mistake twice. But a group of irrational young Indians remain upset with Dato Zulkifli Nordin for explaining the issue as explained by Kamalanathan.

It was simply because Zul Nordin said something unbecoming on the Hindu during his days with PAS some 4-5 years ago. They had to revive the incident after he switched camp. And one would have thought after he had admitted, apologised and lost, the campaign against him should end.

Dato Ibrahim Ali was also picked on for saying in passing in his speech at a Perkasa do in Permatang Pauh, before the election. He said to the all Muslim crowd that Muslim students approached by Christian activist should throw away the given bibles.

It is a clever spin to simplify Ibrahim Ali had asked to throw the Christian's holy book into the dustbin but it is taken totally out of context. Controversial Ibrahim Ali may have said many politically incorrect words in the past but not on this.

We were a witness and that remark did not exist in a vacuum but was a reaction arising from his believe that there was an infringement on the Article 11(4) of the Constitution. It was not a self initiated action with intention to promote hatred against Christians.

It is not a strong case and 95% winnable one for Attorney General, Tan Sri Gani Patail to work on. Ibrahim can have his lawyer argue "throw away" was said in a colloquial manner to mean "put it away" and the case will be thrown out of court.

Don't accuse of Gani of being bias because the pro-BN bloggers too feel he is bias in favour of the opposition. They felt he is dragging his feet for political expediency by refraining to charge certain opposition personalities.

The issue of Zul Nordin and Ibrahim Ali arise is merely a propaganda counter attack to also deviate public attention from the attack on the local online promoter of free sex and porn merchandiser, Alvin and Vivian and a series of other social media insults on Islam, Islamic ritual and practises, and Malays.

Void of a valid excuse to answer for these insulting and insensitive acts, they could resort to counter attack propaganda and nit picking.

Villifying a Successor?

It reminded us of 2006-7, when former premier Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was shaken to fall, the opposition picked up a game initiated from deep inside UMNO to create the myth of Scorpene submarine bribery scandal and later accused the Prime Minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor for the Altantunya.

The whole idea was to go after the incumbent. Nearing his end, the oppositions turn to support Abdullah and went all out for Najib.

Are they thinking that it is the end of Najib thus their accelerated attack on Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and brush him as an ultra Malay and racist? What made them think that Muhyiddin will rise to challenge Najib?

In his heydays, even the ever manipulative Tun Musa Hitam dare not try to break tradition and be the first Deputy to take-on the boss.

That did not stop DAP from painting a negative perception of Muhyiddin. It could be the sole purpose of destroying the credibility of any possible successors. For Najib's moronic diehards, which of late, have shown their moronic irrational side, note the plurality.

The Father and Son Lim was at it with Muhyiddin. Lim Kit Siang said Muhyiddin "should apologise for jumping the gun in falsely blaming non-Muslim" and "for condemning the video without checking the facts."

The son goes on to accuse for Muhyiddin as not being a leader for all Malaysians. That is the propaganda to over blow things out of proportion by nit picking to create issue.

How factual can these perpetual liars and propagandist of racial hatred be?

Kit Siang was quoting newspaper reports but he did not bother to read the actual words said. An extract of the speech in Malay, below:

It started out of a poor reporting by Bernama. Although it was subsequently corrected, it was made "biral" by Malaysian Insiders and Malaysiakini.

Based on what Muhyiddin actually said, perhaps it is fair for us to tell the Lims that it is THEM that is  most undeserving to be members of Parliament and head of a state government.

For more than a generation, they had not expressed the concerns of all Malaysian but the myopic interest of only a certain race, or religion. They have always unfairly sided wit sided with a certain leaning group on any issue.

Foolish Apologist

The reporters need not be worry.

The Director General for the Ministry of Information, Dato Ibrahim Abdul Rahman and Special Officer for Media cum Coordinator for Social Media at Prime Minister's Office, Dato Akmar Mokhles will recommend the Bernama, MI and M'kini reporters to be conferred a PJN medal and subsequently addressed as Dato at the next Agong's Birthday.

Their "reports on the conflict were accurate in showing that we were right albeit legally and morally", to quote Prof Dato Khairul Anas prepared speech reported by Malaysiakini here.

This recent barrage of insults on the Islamic rituals, Islamic religion, and Malays had it's origin in episode involving Namewee's Negara Ku Ku video. That time he was merely lampooning our national anthem to insult the Malays, Islam and Malaysia.

Former Minister for Information and still has Ministerial status, Dato Dr Rais Yatim was ready to pounce the law on the Namewee.

The opposition and non Malays was supporting the unbecoming behaviour of Namewee. Eventually, one senior Minister inside the Prime Minister's Department went soft. The quick to lallang Rais turnaround and had FINAS helped Namewee launched his career in filmaking.

Namewee made a bundle from the special treatment from FINAS. Cinema operator and the Chinese players in the film industry enable him to produce two films a year. [read our past posting here]

Such softie way of dealing with bigotry insults not only refused BN the Chinese electoral support and continued online harassment, but Namewee is still at it.

His issue is with the withdrawal of the movie New Village. Someone must be sleeping at the Lembaga Penapisan Filem at Home Ministry. Among others, the film manipulated historical event to promote the murdeous terrorist-communist as freedom and independence fighter. [Read Bujai in Just Read here.]

FINAS must be either sleeping on the job or under payroll of cinema distributor or just plain void of any sense of patriotism. Do they not realised that New Village is slotted to steal the storm from  Tanda Putera by showing it on 22nd before it's showing on August 29th?

Bayan Baru MP, Sim Tze Tzin sprang up a statement [read here] to call upon Malaysian to open up to both the films, Tanda Putera and New Village. Where was Sim when Tanda Putera was unfairly treated by the establishment?

Looking fair and acceptable is also part of the game. DAP and Gerakan claim to be multiracial. Sim is trying to be fair-minded.

In the meanwhile, Nazri just realised something about Namewee?

Gerakan Anti PKR here is not impress. It must be the UMNO party election is around the corner.

Nazri compromisable act in the past contributed to the current contagion of racial hatred and lost of respect towards government. Hopefully the UMNO grassroot see to it to dump him.

Vernacular Paranoia

Still related to the Lim's "myopic interest", their allies and chauvanistic comrade, Dong Zong had
recently held a conference at Hall of SJK (C) Chung Kwo, Jalan Loke Yew, Kuala Lumpur to protest against the Malaysian Education Development Plan for 2013-2015.

The self interest but unconstitutional theme attracted 728 NGOs and 2,500 participants. It is not about their rights to preserve their culture and language but it is unconstitutional to expect public funding. The constitution only allows the "study and learn" of mother tongue but not "study and teach" the language.

Former Appeal Court Judge Dato Mohd Nor Abdullah interpreted that the constitution has the basis to deny the non mainstream vernacular school the funding. The foreign imported fringe education system does not have any national aspiration but only for the narrow interest of the Chinese.

But conference speakers demanded budget from the government. By right, they should not assume they have any right but merely seeking assistance from the government. The Malay has a saying, kasi betis hendak peha.

The Unspinners have an account of the conference here. Not reported was the reason for their willingness to be confrontational against the Government on the plan.

They were against one of the objective of the plan to "memperkasakan sekolah kebangsaan (empower the national school)". Part of the plan is to cater for a more upgraded syllabus in teaching Chinese and Tamil language and improve the quality of teachers and method in improving English lesson.

They are paranoid to the prospect that mainstream school will attract Chinese students, if the plan is implemented well. Worried that it might spell the end of vernacular school, they are not taking chances

Dong Zong activists live from the money generated from their monopoly in publishing and printing of Chinese school text books and stationaries. Who says it is a genuine struggle to preserve their language and culture? It can also be preserved at Vision School or any other.

So it is only about money for Dong Zong.

The conference abusively criticised Mahyuddin and demanded the Plan to be readjusted in accordance to the rudimentary Education Ordinance of 1957. Why not the more wholesome nation building plans enscribed in Penyata Razak and Penyata Rahman?

It is because their are not interested to see a one and united Malaysian nation (Bangsa Malaysia). Chinese vernacular school activists want to preserve their Chineseness by being divisive and live in "autonomy".

So they imbued ideas to create fringe group using socially unacceptable products of Chinese schools. Dong Zong thrives on inciting racial hatred and the existence of divisiveness in society.

They are smarter and more poweful than the chauvanist DAP. Dong Zong is an important chess player that determine the Chinese political game. Be it, DAP, MCA, Geraka, SUPP, and not excluding multiracial PKR, all kow tow to them for support.

To argue against our perception of Chinese vernacular school, go to Demi Negara here first. Pro-vernacular have long had their arguments debunked and downed from DN's bunkers.

Our wish is for our Indian brothers give the mainstream school and planned Tamil language syllabus a chance. Unlike the Chinese, the Indians are too little in number and not economically viable to sustain a Tamil education system. It denies the future of young Indians.

If the Indians could go mainstream, eventually and hopefully little by little the Chinese will be attracted too. Divisiveness and hatred must not be allowed to go on.

Pak Lah's "tiada maaf" raya revenge

Two days before Hari Raya, Malaysiakini published a report at 5:00 PM [read here] about Pak Lah's sleep apnea condition. Why raise that issue now?

If he had a CPAP condition, he should have immediately got himself a CPAP machine to solve his daytime drowsy condition. But instead, he got himself a used Serani cipap.

He does not need to wait till 2013 to tell everyone. The boys at MyKMU had been talking about 7-8 years ago. This blogger truly can relate to CPAP problem. It has to be more than that.

By night, the real reason begin to surface - Malaysiakini 9:00 PM and Malay Mail Online at 9:17 PM (read in Bigdog's blog here) - in that Pak Lah had written a book, Awakening, the Abdullah years in Malaysia.

The instant impression is Pak Lah is working with the opposition and trying to help his men to win the UMNO party election. Looks like the Empire strikes back. Pak Lah is known to be quiet but he i widely known to be vengeful.

He takes the right time for Hari Raya to tell the world he wants to get even. So it looks like tiada maaf bagi mu, Mahathir.

Tun Dr Mahathir writes but Pak Lah? He falls asleep while reading, how could he write one? Be serious!

As reported, it seems he had written the 620 pages book with editing assistance from Singapore-based pro-opposition Bridget Welsh and James UH Chin. It is published by Strategic Information dan Research Development Centre (SIRD), Kuala Lumpur - NED funded publisher for SUARAM.

Our intel said the book was written by Dato Kalimullah "Masya Allah..." in consultation with Khairy Jamaluddin. More over, the "group" was trying to approach a Sabah-based portal to pay for publishing their articles.

So far, the two reports merely rewind Pak Lah's old excuse as spinned and churned by Kalimullah during those tumultous years. Kalimullah's boys at The Malaysian Insider's have moved to Dato Siew Ka Wei's Redberry Group owned Malay Mail Online. The newspaper is up for sale, we heard.

Bigdog has taken his first bite at the book here. He calls it an irony as he takes us back to the whole history of Pak Lah's pathetic administration which Dato Najib is still burdened to resolve it. Read also the commentaries.

Pak Lah still wants to justify that the country will go bankrupt if he had carried out the then RM12.4 billion but now mentioned as RM14.5 billion Double Tracking project. This project and the Crooked Bridge has highly strategic value and enemies backing our opposition would back anyone railroading it.

Is it really because it will put the country into bankruptsy?

Tun Dr Mahathir has long explained that he knows the country could afford it. He left office after solving the financial crisis and he knows the country can afford this necessary project. It never was about cronyism or nepotism or corruption but building the country's future.

The reason the project was shelved was self-interest on Pak Lah's part. His interest is always about his family.

There was an opposition supporting blogger-accountant, Kong Hui Chong, who wrote an article entitled "The Truth Behind the Northern Double Track Project."

Off course, he will tailor the story as two leaders fighting over the bounty of power but it has some interesting revelation on Pak Lah. We reproduce the excerpts below:
Mahathir Mohamad awarded the Double Tracking Project to MMC-Gamuda on 21st October 2003, just nine days before he stepped down as Prime Minister. On 1st November 2003, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, fondly known as Pak Lah, took over as Prime Minister. The first thing that Pak Lah did when he took over as Prime Minister was to cancel Mahathir’s pet projects. The Crooked Bridge to Singapore was one and the Double Tracking Project was the other, which Pak Lah shelved the following month in December 2003.

Syed Mokhtar
Mahathir was furious. He had spent more than a year from mid-2002 to late 2003 discussing with Pak Lah as to what he can and cannot do once he took over as Prime Minister. Whether Pak Lah just forgot or whether he did a dirty on Dr Mahathir is not too clear. But the long and short of it, Pak Lah did everything he promised he would not do. And cancelling Mahathir’s pet projects was clearly one of the do-not-does. Actually, Pak Lah had a great dislike for Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary who had shunned him when he was the Deputy Prime Minister. Hence, within just a month of taking over as Prime Minister, Pak Lah did the unthinkable. He cancelled the Double Tracking Project, the Crooked Bridge Project, and all those other projects that Mahathir had given to his cronies. Did anyone not bother to tell Pak Lah that one just does not slaughter sacred cows, in particular Mahathir’s sacred cows?

Pak Lah explained that the government’s ‘poor finances’ did not permit such grandiose projects -- hence the need to cancel them. This caused Mahathir to flip. It gave the impression that Mahathir’s mismanagement has bled the country’s finances dry -- hence there is no more money. It also gave the impression that Mahathir’s projects are a total waste of money -- hence the need to cancel them. In short, Mahathir is a bungling idiot.

Syed Mokhtar tried but could not get Pak Lah to agree to revive the Double Tracking Project. By 2006, Syed Mokhtar tried the to work through the back door.
Lin Yung Ling
Syed Mokhtar asked the CEO of Gamuda, Lin Yun Ling, to approach Seow Lun Hoo (former President and CEO of Hong Leong Credit) to mastermind the penetration of Pak Lah’s inner circle.
That was how Seow first involved Khairy Jamaludin, Pak Lah’s son-in-law, and later Shah Hakim, the close associate of Kamaluddin, Pak Lah’s son.

And by a wave of the magical wand of Shah Hakim and Kamaluddin Badawi, the project began to be revived.

All these facts have now been revealed in court when Seow and Shah Hakim admitted that they “provided technical expertise and networking capabilities to help revive the once-shelved RM12.4 billion double-tracking railway project …. It was through our efforts that the project was revived.”

The ‘networking capabilities’ and revival efforts included opening doors for Lin to present the revival ideas to then Minister-in-Charge of the Economic Planning Unit (EPU), Effendi Norwawi.

Effendi initially told Lin that given Pak Lah’s grim description of the country’s finances it would be difficult for the government to be seen as reviving it from government funding. Effendi, the (so-called) Sarawak financial wizard, then created this fanciful term for Lin to use when presenting the proposal to the government as a way in getting the project revived -- Private Finance Initiatives (PFI).

The idea was: the private sector can include all their additional financial costs and risks into the PFI proposal to make the project costs higher. Effendi also advised that after approval has been obtained, the PFI project could then revert to a design-and-build project fully shouldered by the government.

And that was exactly how MMC-Gamuda cheated the Malaysian public into believing that the PFI projects were fully funded by the private sector whereas in the end the taxpayers would be footing the bill.

Effendi and Tiara
For his wonderful advice and support, Effendi also asked Lin to sponsor his new wife’s hobby in extravagant stage productions. That explained how Effendi’s wife, Tiara Jacqueline, could have the finances to mount the most glamorous and expensive Malay stage play to date -- Puteri Gunung Ledang. Lin and Syed Mokhtar were also made to sponsor Pak Lah’s wife’s pet project in the Pride Foundation and Endon Award for Performing Arts Excellence scholarship fund.

You see, Pak Lah, his family, and his friends in the cabinet, wanted to teach Syed Mokhtar and his sidekick, Lin, a good lesson for shunning them during Mahathir’s time. So they were going to make MMC-Gamuda pay for every single one of their whimsical pleasures.

The story goes on ...
Shah Hakim Zain
Shah Hakim had a deep distrust for Syed Mokhtar. So he had convinced Effendi that the project should be divided into two parts – the Infrastructure Works to be awarded directly to MGJV for RM10 billion and the Systems Work for RM2.38 billion which will be given to a contractor of the government’s choice. The Systems Work was supposed to be sub-contracted by MGJV to NR Sistem.

When Syed Mokhtar realised that the 30% margin that the Shah Hakim group was going to make from the RM2.38 billion System Work contract amounted to RM600 million, Syed Mokhtar got upset. He complained to Mahathir about how Pak Lah had cancelled the project and forced him to use the services of Shah Hakim who will now make RM600 million ‘atas angin’. Mahathir advised Syed Mokhtar to stall signing any contract with NR Sistem for the Systems Work.

According to the spinned story, Dr Mahathir begin to attack Pak Lah viciously and mocked him about being Mr Clean. ... Of course, the issue was more than that. In the ...
.... mean time, Syed Mokhtar directed Lin to force Seow and Shah Hakim to accept a reduced profit margin RM360 million instead of RM600 million.

Khairy, Kamaluddin and Pak Lah (left to right)
This infuriated Shah Hakim and Kamaluddin because they thought they had already agreed to the 30% margin, which was equivalent to RM600 million. That money was needed not just for them personally but also to fund Pak Lah’s 2008 elections campaign. Syed Mokhtar held back the money and refused to give Pak Lah what he needed for the 12th general election campaign. Mahathir had advised Syed Mokhtar to hang on and not to commit to any figure as Mahathir wanted Pak Lah to perform badly in the election and subsequently be ousted. The only way someone can become Prime Minister in this country is by paying huge sums of money to supporters to vote them into the hot seat. Without funds, Pak Lah could not pay for votes and was ousted.

Without enough funds, Mahathir’s plan became a reality. BN and Umno fared poorly in the March 2008 GE ...

This part of Pak Lah being denied election money is an embelishment. There was sufficient money for the 2008 election. In fact, Dr Mahathir made statement that he left UMNO to Pak Lah with RM1.5 billion in the coffer. Why should UMNO be financially desperate in 2008?

Pak Lah's era was an era of rampant self interest and personal enrichment WITHOUT anything to show for. He developed and delivered nothing really worthwhile for the country. His big ideas for the nation forward was not only empty dreams but disastrous. He wrecked the civil service and marginalised their role.

Not only those in his small closed circle became instant billionaire, but the assistants like political secretaries. As one lawyers representing many UMNO politicans confided to us, these secretaries in the right grouping are worth at least RM100 million,
Post-March 2008, it was imminent that Pak Lah would have to give way to Najib. Syed Mokhtar, being the shrewd businessman that he is, then directed Lin not to sign anything with Shah Hakim’s NR Sistem – even for the agreed price of RM360 million .....
Shrewd or not, why should Syed Mokhtar pay for blackmail for his already earned project?
Syed Mokhtar never intended to pay Kamaluddin and Shah Hakim the RM600 million nor the 33% or RM3.3 billion from the RM10 billion Infrastructure Works. All in all, Syed Mokhtar earned RM3.7 billion from the combined value of RM12.4 billion for the Double Tracking Rail Project.
Good for this Bumiputera businessman. He earned it.

It is not like some civil servants in power or politicians with the discretionary power taking money by taking bribes, kickbacks and corruption.

Why should this Bumiputera businesman being politically pressured repeatedly when he is only one Bumiputera is in the top 10 richest man in Malaysia? More so when some 80% of top 50 richest Malaysian are Chinese.

Don't give the excuse that Chinese are competitive and worked hard. It is only partly true.

Each had a life story of subsidy and monopoly, linked with unsavory characters, and practising bribes, kickbacks and corruptions. Some 70% of corruption involves commercial transaction and both taker AS WELL AS GIVER OF CORRUPTION are guilty.

Why don't they raise issue on how the other Chinese business became multi-billionaires? Tan Sri Robert Kuok, for instance. Tan Sri Teh Hiong Piow, Tan Sri Vincent Tan, and so on.

Save the Malay are corrupt stereotyping, ok?

Read the whole article here and one can sense the blogger was writing in defense for someone.

The story could be fabricated out of sporadic information here and there. The full picture could be different. Nevertheless, as an accountant with interest in personal finance, he may know something useful to be shared.

So, lets see how Pak Lah respond. That is if he wants to respond. Kalimullah would surely be reading this blog, We are quite sure ...So don't just go nahi nahi nafi nafi ... These days it is not enough.

More need to be told. The more told, the more will be known. The more known, people can spot whether it makes sense. Remember ... Pak Lah does not know and remember much. He slept on the job most of the time.

This revenge he had for Tun Mahathir, the man who put him there, will make this the most unforgiving Hari Raya for Pak Lah. Que sera sera ... Until more development from Pak Lah and his men, we like to wish to every Muslim:

Selamat Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir Batin

And travel safely .....

Something really strange about Pak Lah's book cover.

It does not mention the author's name but only the editors; pro-Anwar Ibrahim American lecturer-writer, Bridget Welsh and James UH Chin. Already mentioned in earlier posting here that it is published by SUARAM's publisher, Strategic Information and Research Development Centre (SIRD), Kuala Lumpur.

One would wonder whether this is an opposition dirty trick to publish a book claimed as Pak Lah's but not highlighting Pak Lah as author.  Moreover, Sundaily reported Nurul Izzah will launch the book in Singapore on August 30th.

It only confirms the involvement of the former Singapore's intel chief in government of the previous administration, Dato Kalimullah Hasan. But Pak Lah?

The report in The Sun, which is still in the network of left-leaning mainstream media, below:

Nurul Izzah to launch Pak Lah’s book in Singapore

PETALING JAYA (Aug 7, 2013): Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar will launch former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's book "Awakening, the Abdullah Badawi years in Malaysia" in Singapore later this month.

She said she has accepted an invitation to launch the book on Aug 30.

"I believe the Malaysian launch will be presided over by Abdullah himself and (former deputy prime minister) Tun Musa Hitam," she told theSun.

In Abdullah's tell-all book, which will contain more than 35 essays, he defends his tenure as prime minister and accusations that he slept on the job by revealing that he had been suffering from sleep apnea.

During that time, photos were circulated ridiculing him, and even his predecessor Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had criticised him.

However, in an excerpt from the book, Abdullah claimed Mahathir had known about his condition all along.

"I did tell Mahathir of my condition so for him to say I doze off because I am not interested in the job is most unkind.

"He knew the problem and yet he chose to say all these things," he said.

He has since undergone surgery and no longer suffers from the condition.

Abdullah, 73, was prime minister from 2003 to 2009. He resigned from his post as Umno president and as prime minister after the BN's lacklustre performance in the 2008 election.
Is it true that Pak Lah will preside over the Malaysian launching? And Musa will attend?

That means the Pak Lah/Musa Empire is striking back.

But then again, it could be former Deputies to Dr Mahathir, minus the late Tun Ghaffar, is forming a coalition to get even. Abdullah and Musa looks to be sleeping with the left. Anwar already a left wing liberal and had dumped his Islamist beginning.

If one consider Ghaffar's son, Tamrin Ghaffar is with PAS, all are with the opposition. Will more of Dr Mahathir's adversaries aggregate with the liberal side?

Maybe it is just not about Dr Mahathr but also Dato Najib. Dr Mahathir may have expressed his disappointment with Najib and there are issues that he need address, but he still insist that Najib stay unopposed as UMNO President to keep party united.

Will it affect Dato Najib and existing ruling team from UMNO?

The political development after Hari Raya and facing up to UMNO's part election looks promisingly to be exciting.

Whose feeling the heat?

The Awakening of Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi or more precisely, the book "Awakening: The Abdullah Ahmad Badawi days in Malaysia" postphoned it's launching.

That was what Bridget Welsh said and Rocky commented here that her excuse does not jive. She use the excuse that the book is being overly politicised but attempted to politicise the book by having Nurul Izzah launch the book on August 30th in Singapore.

That event is not postphoned. Only postphoned is the Malaysian launch on August 16th which was supposedly to be attended by Abdullah and Tun Musa.

Is somebody feeling the heat from the controversies the book has generated so far?

Definitely, somebody is feeling the heat but not saying anything.

Tun Dr Mahathir decided not to say anything but trust the old man to be cool in any circumstances, even as big as a major financial crisis and yet came out scot free.

Yet the two probable accomplice do not look cool.

Abdullah remain with his elegant silence self. By right, he should speak out because the editor of the book claimed they had met him for an interview.

Why entertain a SUARAM linked book publisher?

Khairy Jamaluddin avoided to comment but had "terlepas cakap" (accidently spoke) to say Abdullah requested the book be launched after general election. Maybe it was spinning by Malaysiakini but there has not been any denial coming.

No denial is coming forth for open and loud allegations that the dark hands behind this book is Dato Kalimullah Hasan in consultation with Khairy

In Malaysian politics, silence does not mean no. It is usually interpreted as covering up for a sense of guilt from an action made. Until Abdullah and Khairy explained logically, the public will assume they were involved or consented to the book publication.

There is no more such thing as ignoring an issue.

When PMO media team shoose to keep quiet on the issues of submarine, Altantunya and Rosmah, the issues did not quiet down but became difficult to debunk later.

Trust the media to keep harping on them or there is some sinister conspiracy going on by the media.

It does not matter whether the PMO's media team are distinguish or half baked journalists but they sure are living in the dark ages on matters of media propaganda to think of quiet down as strategy.

Maybe Abdullah and Khairy just realised the mistake that any form of collaboration with SUARAM or SUARAM linked publisher will be detrimental to Khairy's political career, thus Bridget was requested to postphone.

At least, that is a plausible explanation for Bridget's decision to postphone.

But what about statement made by aspiring candidate for Deputy UMNO Youth Chief, Lokman Noor Adam?

He pass an SMS statement below:
Kepada teman2 yang mendapat mesej berantai berhubung Pak Lah menjemput Izzah melancarkan bukunya, isini ada sedikit penjelasan. Harap disebarkan :

1) Buku tersebut bukan buku yang Pak Lah tulis

2) Ia ditulis oleh ahli akademik dan Pak Lah hanya ditemubual dan menjawab soalan ahli akademik tersebut.

3) Memang Pak Lah subject penulis, tetapi ianya bukan buku terbitan Pak Lah

4) Justeru yang menjemput Nurul Izzah bukanlah Pak Lah tapi penerbit

Mohon dipanjangkan. Terima kasih.

Lokman Noor bin Adam
Exco Pemuda UMNO Msia
One wonders on the locus standi of Lokman Nor Adam to make such statement. During Pak Lah's days in office, he was known to be aligned to Khairy and a fervent defender of Pak Lah. He was seldom labelled as Khairy's boys.

There can only one possible reason that gives him some credibility to his statement. He could be in the family of Pak Lah.
The only possibility left is that he is married to one or both of Tun Jeanne's daughter with her ex-husband, late Tun Endon Mahmood's younger brother and Pak Lah's former brother-in-law, Osman Mahmod.

But Lokman is already married with quite a few children.

Somebody is feeling the heat from the possibility of getting kantol (caught)!

An hour before our posting yesterday here, Sin Chew.com published a Bernama report containing Pak Lah's denial.

So it was not considered in our previous posting. One commentator used that to discredit us and claim we denied his right to give his side of the story.

This posting is about giving Pak Lah's side of the story. But, does his response make sense?

The Bernama report below:

Abdullah dismisses assumptions he conspired with opposition over book

2013-08-12 17:37

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 12 (Bernama) -- Former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad today dismissed assumptions that he had conspired with the opposition to go against his own party, Umno, through the publication of the book "Awakening: The Abdullah Badawi Years in Malaysia".

"That is tantamount to twisting the facts and is slanderous. The criticisms given during the interview with me, as contained in the book, were made because I wish to see that Umno continues to have the people's mandate and trust.

"I have never left Umno and, God willing, when the time comes I will breathe my last in this world as an Umno member who loves his motherland," he said in a media statement.

Abdullah said it must be understood that he had neither written the book nor sponsored its publication.

He said he had been interviewed by two academicians, James Chin and Bridget Welsh, on the principle of openness for a balanced debate with regard to all points of view.

Abdullah explained that he was only associated with an interview in 2011, which was more inclined towards replying to questions raised by the writers who had contributed to the book and providing him with an opportunity to clarify several points inserted in the book.

"I did not sponsor or ask for the book to be published. It is the norm for academicians to make an analysis of our country's political history and, definitely, my era did not escape academic research.

"I only agreed to be interviewed so that my views and explanations can be carried in the book," he said.

Abdullah said he did not know of, was not informed about and was not responsible for any invitation to launch or discuss the book.

He said he had no plans to attend the launch of the book for it could be then assumed that he wrote it and sponsored its publication.

"The news that an opposition leader has been invited to launch the book in Singapore, even if it is true, is the decision of the publisher, not mine," he said.

It had been reported that Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah, daughter of Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, would launch the book in Singapore on Aug 30

It is merely a deny, deny, deny ... statement. He could be denying by singing a Hindustani song .... nahi, nahi, nahi ... and still said nothing.

This is old school style of denial without any meat is not convincing. The questions remained:
  • If he was merely answering questions by the (real) authors, why was only attack on Tun Dr Mahathir was highlighted? It could mean Pak Lah was not shedding light into his past actions but holding a grudge against Dr Mahathir.
  • Why didn't Pak Lah just highlighted the fact that he wanted to run the country his way and not resoort to personal revenge against Dr Mahathir?
  • If Pak Lah did not sponsor or request for it's publication, why was he willing to be interviewed?
  • Why didn't he check the background of the authors/editors and publishers?
  • If true that this is merely an academic exercise, why didn't this people right an academic bok on Dr Mahathir? He was a more significant subject matter than the monnow Pak Lah.
  • During his administration and retirement, Pak Lah and his media propagandist are protective, and guarded at allowing him to be interviewed by the media and local media to avoid controversies. But, he could vomit out whatever crosses his mind with the two editors?
  • Pak Lah asked his answers be the focus of reader's attention and not the speculations behind his actions. It means Pak Lah wants readers to focus on his attack on Dr Mahathir.
  • Taken that Pak lah did not write the book, but this book has no value without Pak lah's interview. It could be construed that he actually wanted the book published.
  • Why didn't Pak Lah think ahead that this is enemy strategy to destroy UMNO and allow oour wn people to write instead?
  • Again, if Pak Lah did not write, why did he provided materials to promote the book which contains personal attack on other and his own party?
  • Pak Lah's cooperation showed his liberal side which was never known before he became Prime Minister. Did he realised that his liberal ways was the cause for much the disrespect today and destroyal of the Malays and their leaders?

The Bernama report did not mention he denied holding a vendence against Dr Mahathir and the questions posed could prematurely conclude that the belief that Pak Lah would revenge against Dr Mahathir is true.

The reason he will revenge is for criticising his administration and led Najib and Muhyiddin to honourably replace him. It means he does not believe he should be criticised and in the past, he will complain on Dr Mahathir for repeating the same issue despite him explaining his reasons.

It is as though we should accept and shut up upon hearing his ridiculous explanation. IT shows the man the opposition gave tribute for openness is himself not transparent and open.

Nevertheless Pak Lah has every right to give his side of the story and criticise Dr Mahathir, just like we had every right to criticise him then and now. We make no bone of making our view, opinion and speculation known and heard.

Were we not subjected to much oppression for expressing ur views during his time?

The commentator, Khairy and Lokman Nor Adam should not be sore with the fact that their plan to rubbish Dr Mahathir to prop up their group failed!

That is all to it.

Pak Lah to bring back Anwar to UMNO?

When you reach to pet a sleeping dog, you risk startling them and getting attacked, thus the idiom, "Let sleeping dogs lie."

It suggest that you are better off to leave a topic alone or not talk about things which have caused problems in the past. Do not instigate trouble and leave something alone if it might cause trouble.

Lastly, do not try to change a situation because you might cause problems.

Pak Lah should have kept quiet and sleep out the rest of his retirement.

He can try to deny and Khairy can get Lokman Nor Adam to blast a second SMS denial. Former Principal Secretary can get his man to issue a denial. Bridget Welsh can change the planned launch of the book.

It's too late. Pak Lah has awaken the dogs. Alert dogs sniff and sense trouble from afar.

Pak Lah-Anwar link

One Bigdog sniff the link between Pak Lah and Anwar.

In his posting Admission of Guilt, he highlighted the "fact that PKR Vice President Nurul Izzah Anwar who was invited and slotted to launch the book in Singapore on 30 August symbolises that Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim personally endorsing the book."

Nurul Izzah's defense of the book only strengthened the evidence that the Opposition especially PKR is backing Abdullah to take revenge and demonise the government and indirectly, weaken UMNO.

Taken from APAhere

Interestingly, Syed Akbar Ali in his blog here shared an SMS which gives a perspective on the future direction of Nurul Izzah, Khairy and Anwar Ibrahim, below:
Is Nurul Izzah being groomed as a future Wanita UMNO leader ? Badawi and KJ with Kalimullah are  putting the plan in operation, three years away, a coup for UMNO before the next election. Anwar won't object as he then has fingers in all parties ie Government and the Opposition.  Very possible with Azmin heading PKR.

Anwar may not become PM but in this scenario he becomes a King Maker. Further this would give KJ the support for his ascendency in UMNO and distances the other factions.

Situation is very possible as they believe Mahathir would not be around long. Even if he does, they are out to hammer his credibility to weaken his standing. This would draw support towards  KJ group to take on Najib or Muhyiddin.  Although 1MDB has its war chest but KNB is a monopoly of Badawi's boys. So can you see the scenario building.

Included in the strategy Pak Lah boys want to keep Dr Mahathir  occupied so as to remove his focus on Najib. A decoy tactic or a tactic to ensure that he has multiple fronts to fight.

Note current mood of young Malays, Chinese and Indians (so called educated group) are not for Dr Mahathir. This is the wave they want to capitalise on as the instrument of change in their campaign as these are the people who have the energyand the vigour.

It would mean that the Pak Lah boys inevitably become indispensable to Najib. A well crafted scenario. This strategy puts KJ in the forefront as Najib's key ally and. clears the way for his ascendency in UMNO. Anwar Ibrahim style of climb in UMNO.
The responses Syed Akbar received was:
Plausible. A repeat of S46 coming back to the fold.
Another one:
Possible bro, and we hv to make a stop!
Meet up

How to stop when this has been in play for quite a number of years?

Firstly, remember Khairy delivering passport to Anwar Ibrahim's house upon his release from prison under the pretext of assisting his immediate departure for treatment in Munich.

Anwar's operaion was truly miraculous as he was able to walk hours after the operations when it took us three days after undergoing similar operations. The Alpha Klinik where Anwar went for treatment was reported to be involved in fraud.

Second, Anwar paid a courtesy visit to Pak Lah during his open house in Kepala Batas after he came out of prison.

Thirdly, Anwar and Pak Lah was seen together performing zohor and having lunch at a certain Ismailiyah Sect leader in Hulu Langat in 2009.

The rumour was that Anwar spent three hours with Pak Lah trying to convince him to not resign and vacate the seat to Dato Najib.

These are only the publicly known events that shows Pak Lah never severed his ties with Anwar despite Anwar's boys used to call him a walking zombie.

There used to be rumours of Khairy meeting Anwar in Singapore as arranged by Kalimullah.

This blogger is aware that Pak Lah's men had a meeting, if not several meetings, with Anwar at the home of a long-time UMNO Member of Parliament.

This was confirmed to yours truly by a Khairy's Division Ketua Pemuda boy from Terengganu in front of another ex MRSM and political blog writer. There was Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Salahuddin Ayub, Dato' Mahfudz Omar, Khairy Jamaluddin, Dato Kamaluddin Abdullah and the UMNO MP as host.

One startling link between them is highlighted by Bigdog in this speech by former Anwar's man, Ezam Mohd Nor which shows another side to the link between Pak Lah and Anwar:

Would all these help affirm further the SMS from Syed Akbar that Anwar wish to return to UMNO and Pak Lah is opening the way?

It is refining our own belief here that former Deputies of Dr Mahathir is conspiring to gang-up against him.

As far as the link between Pak Lah and Anwar, there is a known linkman for Pak Lah and Anwar to collaborate as in Pak Din who used to be Pak Lah's driver. Read in AIDC here.

Pak Lah will have a hard time trying to convince with his denial. The Malay Mail online report below:
Malaysia

Pak Lah: I’m not sleeping with the enemy

By Zurairi AR

August 12, 2013

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 12 — Under fire from pro-Umno bloggers, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi denied today that the release of a book on his years as prime minister is a conspiracy to attack the Malay nationalist party.

The contents of the book as well as the choice of PKR lawmaker Nurul Izzah Anwar, the daughter of Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, to launch the book in Singapore earlier set tongues wagging online.

“The principle of openness means that we must be ready to give space for anybody to speak. But do not make an assumption that the book was written by Pak Lah who has conspired with the opposition to attack his own party,” Abdullah (picture) said in a statement here, referring to himself by his popular moniker.

“Whatever criticism given in my interview in the book was made because I want to see Umno given continued mandate and trust by the people.”

“Awakening: The Abdullah Years in Malaysia”, a book on his short reign as the prime minister who succeeded Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, features an exclusive interview where the usually quiet man finally speaks out against his detractors.

In the days following its release, the book dominated headlines in the media with heavy focus given to Pak Lah’s words on Dr Mahathir and what the former prime minister described as “unwarranted attacks” on his person that eventually led to his ouster.

Pro-Umno bloggers have since accused Abdullah of being a “mouthpiece” of the opposition with the release of the book, painting its editors Prof Bridget Welsh and Prof James Chin as alleged anti-Barisan Nasional (BN) dissenters.

Today, Abdullah denied he had a hand in the book’s tone or the decision to have Nurul Izzah launch the book in Singapore.

“Since I am not the publisher, printer, editor not the author of the book, I do not know, am not informed and not responsible for any invitations to launch and discuss the book,” Pak Lah explained.

“The news of an opposition leader attending the book launch in Singapore — even if it is true — was the decision of the publishers, not me.”

The Singapore launch has since been cancelled, according to the book’s editors today, who earlier postponed a companion event in Kuala Lumpur due to the growing controversy over the tome.

On Saturday, the editors decided to postpone the launch here, citing concerns over its “politicisation” and sensationalisation by media organisations in their reportage of certain portions of the book.

Today, Chin also denied that Nurul Izzah’s scheduled attendance had contributed to the cancellation of the Singapore launch, and repeated the hope that the public will read the book in its entirety before making any comment.

Abdullah has also clarified that he was not planning on attending the launch event, to dispel any notions that the book was written and endorsed by him, explaining that it was not written under his request or sponsorship.

On Saturday, Welsh and Chin noted in their open letter that some media outlets had wrongly categorised “Awakening” as “Pak Lah’s book”.

They pointed out that this was inaccurate as the book was a collection of multiple views from different persons, including politicians across the divide and academic observers.

Despite the postponement of the launch, the duo said the book will remain available at book stores nationwide.
What more a second SMS from someone with no locus standi:
KENYATAAN MEDIA YABHG TUN ABDULLAH HAJI AHMAD BADAWI

Kenyataan Ini Saya Terima Dari Pejabat Tun Abdullah Badawi, Mohon disebarkan
Nice try but it does not help Lokman's political cause to claim the source came from Pak Lah's office.

Let the game begin!

Since the dogs are up and barking, allow the game to begin!

If Anwar is returning, Najib may have no choice. He may have to accept his return to save UMNO from losing the next General Election.

It is too late for him to realise his mistake for giving good faith to allow Pak Lah's corporate boys to stay till they are in control of government's corporate machinery.

The return of Anwar may see the end of Najib whose grappling with loss of confidence within and without the party.

Jebat Must Die wrote here to remind that Pak Lah will not bring back confidence to the administration. We quote this words of his, below:
There is also this principle that one must always use in politics. When the enemy hates you, you are doing the right thing. But when your political enemy is loving you, then something is indeed wrong.
Najib should not be a nice guy to not realise that both Pak Lah and Anwar are his political enemies. The fiercely critical Dr Mahathir remain his strongest allies. The Malays have an idiom:
Sayang anak pukul-pukulkan, Sayang isteri tinggal-tinggalkan
Dr Mahathir's complains and reminders to Najib is still his way of showing affection as a fatherly figure.

This old house is falling down around my ears
I'm drowning in a river of my tears
When all my will is gone you hold me sway
I need you at the dimming of the day

You pulled me like the moon
Pulls on the tide
You know just where I keep my better side
What days have come to keep us far apart
A broken promise or a broken heart
Now all the bonny birds have wheeled away
I need you at the dimming of the day

Come the night you're only what I want
Come the night you could be my confidant

I see you on the street and in company
Why don't you come and ease your mind with me
I'm living for the night we steal away
I need you at the dimming of the day
I need you at the dimming of the day

Tony F ... you're fired!

We will never own a single shares in Air Asia because it is not worthy of the price and more so that we are reading a financial disaster is awaiting to happen.

But, if by some fluke inheritance that we happen to be a shareholder in Air Asia, we would stood up in their Annual General Meeting to voice concern in the shameTan Sri Tony Fernandez brought to his Tan Sri title and the company.

Air Asia cheat passengers by overcharging and not disclosing true charges. They couldn't care less with the comfort of their passengers for having to wait a long time.

They hide behind the fine prints of agreements and term of sales. The company goes for revenue without any sense of ethics and concern for human lives. They adulterated the accounting policy to boost up revenue and profit and loss.

Tony F keep making statements to deceive the public and indirectly the shareholders. The man talks about being world class but his operation has no transparency and secretive to shareholders. They are never honest and every statement and manouver has ulterior motives.

With the latest pathetic PR stunt in handling their own crisis management at Manila Airport, which resemble an amateur businessman on The Apprentice, we would have said it loudly in the AGM, "Tony F ... you're fired!"

Those judges in The Apprentice should look at their boss and ask how foolish of him to buy an airline with such problem and still allow it to fly.

Embarasingly, over 100 Malaysian was stranded at the Ninoy Aquino International Airports, Manilla when Zest Airlines was grounded and suspended by the Phillipines Aviation Authority.

As reported by the Phillipines Star here,  Zest Arilines had violated the Philippine Civil Aviation Regulations (PCAR).
ZestAir’s non-conformance to PCAR and deficiencies affecting its flight operations included the absence of a qualified account manager, failure to check aircraft logs, flight manifests, weather, among others.

Canebo said that none of the airline’s 24 pilots are exceeding the flight time limit of 100 hours a month per pilot amid the findings of CAAP inspectors that the airline has been violating the flight time limit for pilots since January last year.
It so happen, Tony F has interest in Zest Airlines:

Hundred were stranded and this affected 100 Malaysian. It is only natural that Air Asia has to honour their obligation and commitment to the passengers. So Air Asia was send over to bring them back.

Tony F may have bribed some of the News Straits Times reporters to write with a big heading that it is their rescue mission.

NST GEIC Dato Jalil Hamid must look into this matter seriously and not just too obsess with doing PMO work when mediocre officers so hard-up to earn a medal for nothing and organising politically wasteful climb up Mount Everest claim to be Press Secretary.

Are Roy Goh and Emilia Gazali on the from Air Asia or they are remnants of Dato Kalimullah's legacy inside NST?

Not only Jalil, Rashid Yuso should seriously look into the journalistic ability of his rreporters.

Did this people bother to do a background check when it can be easily googled to know that Air Asia has an interest in Zest Airlines and this is not a rescue mission like taking back students from Egypt but a cover-up of their obligation?

Shouldn't they know better that anything that comes out of Air Asia must have sinister intention?

At about the time that we stop buying The Star and switching back to NST, they have to produce a report described by Cucu Tok Selampit as laporan sampah and Apanama described as prostituting NST.

Wonder who in NST is still at it mendadah xxx to Tony F? One would thought that by the recent large exodus to The Malay Mail Online, there would not be anymore of the Kalimullah-Khairy-Nor Yakcop link in NST.

This blog have been warning it's readers that Air Asia is not only a financial disaster waiting to happen but also a disaster that will cost human lives..

Tony F can think he is the American wheeler Dealer Donald Trump but he hardly come close to the classy Trump build trump Tower. Tony F runs Air Asia not as a low cost carrier but as a low CASTE carrier.

The Donald marries gorgeous blondes, actress and socialites but Tony F ... sorry no spouse should be drag in.

Air Asia does not see safety as important. Talking about safety and an impending disaster, one can read on Bigdog although he is rather kind to just called it as Kapal Karam in his latest posting.

There is something impressive on the decisiveness of the Phillipines Aviation Authority to just ground their home base Zest Airline.

This is unlike DCA, MAHB, Khazanah Nasional, Bursa Malaysia, and MAS too which kept giving Air Asia too much leeway. In fact, Malaysia Airport is just too nice and accomodating to Air Asia at the expense of other customers.

A disaster is about to happen and there is no way one can do anything about it. Giving them more leeway and by not being decisive on them will only make the impending disaster, financial or human, worse.

Zestful indifference to safety

Spending too much time on the general election, we must have missed some news on Air Asia.

In many previous postings [read here], we've discussed of Tony F's plan to have a publicly listed Air Asia subsidiary in every country in Asia and possibly Europe. It raised our concern before that it could start a contagion effect on the financial market of the region.

Airline operation requires heavy funding. For fear, the European and American market will close up on Air Asia's funding for many issues on their operations including safety, Tony F went for the regional bourses.

It could serve to by-pass local regulatory restrictions and a useful "arm twisting" as he threatened to move to Indonesia.

Only thing was his takeover of Batavia Air was aborted and the Indonesian grass is not as green as he thought any grass on the other side should be. He scraped through Thai listing but had to pullout of Japan. But, we weren't aware that Tony F bought Zest Airways.

Since one of Tony's troll wants to play cheap diversion game on the issue of safety on Air Asia, he is a special posting. Other issues will have to be on standby.

Background

The airline that claim in their slogan as "Asia's most refreshing new airline" is only an airline with a fleet of 15 and under order 31 new aircrafts. The background of Zest is as per the extract from Wikipedia here, below:
Zest Airways was established as Asian Spirit in September 1995 by three friends: Antonio "Toti" Turalba, Emmanuel "Noel" Oñate and Archibald Po, who contributed $1 million each to start up the Airline Employees Cooperative (AEC).

They invited 36 of their friends, mostly former Philippine Airlines employees, to run Asian Spirit through a salary-to-equity swap deal. The Po family held the majority of ownership.[2][3][4]

It started operations in April 1996 with two second hand Dash 7 aircraft servicing only one scheduled commercial route with two flights per day from Manila to Malay, serving the fledging resort island of Boracay.

To maximize its aircraft utilization, it introduced new routes to the present-day towns of San Jose, Virac, Daet and Alcantara, and the cities of Cauayan and Masbate, regarded as secondary and tertiary routes by Air Transportation Office, and are not serviced by major airlines.
In 1997, the cooperative changed to a corporate set-up with the establishment of Asian Spirit, Inc., whose registration was approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission in 2005.

At the time, Asian Spirit has the distinction of being the first scheduled airline to serve Boracay. Other operators served the airport on a charter basis then. It became the Philippines' fourth flag carrier (after Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific and Air Philippines) in 2003.

Transition to Zest Airways

Asian Spirit was sold to AMY Holdings, a holding company controlled by businessman Alfredo M. Yao, in March 2008.[5] After the success of the takeover, Yao expressed interest in merging Asian Spirit with South East Asian Airlines (SEAIR). The two airlines have been in merger talks and were expected to make a decision soon.[6]

Yao was supposed to purchase a sixty percent stake in SEAIR,[7] although the deal fell through because of a stolid response from SEAIR management.[8] The merger talks failed and both airlines continued to operate independently.
On September 30, 2008, Asian Spirit officially announced that it will be re-branding itself as Zest Airways. Reports say the name switch reflects the Yao's stake in the company, as well as an allusion to the flagship business of AMY Holdings: juicemaker Zest-O. The firm's board approved the name change in August, while the Civil Aeronautics Board approved the switch earlier this month.[9]

The airline wants to fly to three international points to Sandakan (- already stopped), Malaysia from Zamboanga, to Seoul from Kalibo, Laoag, and Davao, and Macau from Angeles City. However these international routings never took off.[10]

It has also intended to commence international expansion to Bangkok and Singapore from Manila in 2009.[11]
On March 12, 2013, Zest Airways signed a share swap agreement with AirAsia Philippines, a domestic airline with foreign interest. The share swap deal involves exchange of shares between the owner of Zest Airways, Filipino shareholders of AirAsia Philippines, Inc. and AirAsia Berhad of Malaysia. [12][13]

As of May 2013, Zest Air suspended its chartered flights between Boracay and Taipei because of the political tensions between the Philippines and Taiwan.[14]
Indifference

Suspension of Air Operator Certificate

On Aug. 16, 2013, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines suspended Zest Air's Air Operator certificate due to a series of safety breaches.

Among the violations were:[15]
  • No qualified Accountable Manager since July 19, 2013
  • Failure to check aircraft logs, flight manifest, weather, etc.
  • Failure to present to the CAAP the airman license (Aircraft Mechanic License) during ramp inspection
  • Series of occurrences that affected several flight operations
  • Refueling with passenger on board involving RP-C8989 on August 14, 2013
  • Excessive flight duty time case under the enforcement and legal service
Tony F must be absolutely reckless in his zest for expansion.

If CAAP could announced in August of Zest suspension for the above reaons, it means Tony F's management just do not care for safety and thought he can get away in the Phillipines.

There are issues of late issuance of AOC license from our local DCA, many occassions of crash landings, rejection by Singapore to do maintenance for Air Asia, and their maouvring to cut cost (and indirectly quality and conforming) on C and D checks.

One of the issue raised was refueling with paseenger on board. As one commentator complained, Air Asia still practise that in Malaysia. Read comment here.

Tony F has no concern for safety thus the reason he rant and rave on airport aerobridge without concern for passengers' safety and airport security to insist passengers walk on the tarmac..

DCA not firm

What is DCA doing about all this?

Another commentator, Warrior 123 highlighted an interesting information on the Phillipines authority in EU's updated "blacklist"of air carriers.

Despite their decision in dealing with Zest Airway, the civil aviation authorities of European Union issued a list of carriers banned from the EU and in the annex, they described CAAP, the civil aviation authorities of Phillipines had done oversight or error in their inspection of their air carriers.

All Phillipines air carriers with the exception of Phillipines Airline are banned from the EU. It means Zest had long not been complying with international safety standard.

Yet Tony F does not care and even allow Malaysian to board on Zest.

If the less efficient and effective Phillipines authority can make a deciaion on Zest, why can't our DCA be thorough and strict on Air Asia?

Don't bow to the public relation-psywar of this conman against the authorities.

The EU's updated blacklist can be found here for Tony F to use as his shopping list of new airlines to buy. Meanwhile, rivals are moving in to fill up the void left by Zest and Air Asia shareholders should start brushing up in their delivery of "Tony F.. you're fired!"

Where were you and what were you doing when Tun Razak's body was brought back from London?

The American have a favourite question for social conversation: Where were you and what were you doing when Kennedy got shot?

It shows the Americans great sense of their history and how much they endeared the Kennedy in the past. For us Malaysians, we should be asking that same question but instead on the return of Tun Razak's body from London in mind.

At that moment, the whole country was glued to the television upon the announcement of his death on January 14, 1976 by then Deputy Tun Hussein Onn.

Attention was on the return on the return of the body by on MAS, miles of people queuing to pay their last respect at the Parliament, and burial of the body at the Makam Pahlawan next to the grave of his earlier Deputy, Tun Dr Ismail Abd Rahman.

He died about five months earlier on August 2, 1975 [read here].

Khairy claimed he remembered his family was in grief and waited at Kuwait airport for the plane bringing back the body of Tun Razak when it stopped over in Kuwait?

He must be really gifted person to be aware of his family's grief in January 1976 when he was just born days before. [Read Wikipedia here].

No issue for us that anyone wish to express their appreciation for Tun Razak in whatever form. It is only an issue when his memory was manipulated to propel a mediocre leader. [Read our past posting in 2007 here , here and here]

At the time, we were in a MRSM boarding school in Seremban and just completed our LCE as they called it for English medium SRP.

Prep hours start at around 8:00 PM and no TV was allowed so we may have not witness Tun Hussein crying on television when making the announcement was made. Or perhaps news program was allowed to be seen but we missed it.

By the time prep was on-going, words were spreading of his death. We didn't get much studying done that night and everyone and the teachers were spending time talking about Tun Razak and how much has he done.

In 1976, May 13 1969 was still fresh in the mind of many of the boys from Kuala Lumpur, especially those residing in Kg Baru and Kampong Pandan.

Even at 16, we were very much aware of Tun Razak and his commitment to developed the country and help out the economically trailing Bumiputera community.

The very existense of MRSM and MARA had the mind and heart of Tun Razak. Young MCOBA and Director in Mara, Encik Wahab Alwi was assigned to develop MRSM, IKM, Giat Mara, and many other educational and training institutions under MARA

MARA had so much relevant to our life. Our family used to live in a small rumah murah pasang siap kayu MARA that only cost RM2,000 then. MARA gave us RM15 a month pocket money at MRSM.

Father's half brother joined another Tun Razak social engineering work at Felda in Air Hitam, Johor.

It is still fresh in our mind of their conversation in front of a pelita at my uncle's Felda home. There was no electricity yet. We were there to pay respect and seek his blessing before enrolling into MRSM.

Father and his half brother talked on the benefit of joining the Felda scheme and what his younger brother did. He was satisfied that his brother had finally made a life for himself. That uncle today drives in Mercedes albeit an older model.

At one time, father saved his three half brothers out of the clutches of their stepfather and personally raised them till grandmother accepted the sons of her madu into her home.

There was opportunities and assistance opening up for our smallholder farmer-families back in kampong, Cikgu-Cikgu uncles and aunties, and many others.

Efforts after efforts by Government reported in the media could be heard launching and implementing projects as part of Tun Razak's drive for rural development, eradication of poverty, social justice and nation building.

It made us take development for granted and as a must without realising that almost any other program and effort in this country has Tun Razak's touch.

After prep and about time for sleep, one of our friend was busy packing up to get ready ready for his parents. They are coming from nearby Lake Garden Seremban home to fetch him to go to Kuala Lumpur that night itself.

He was a close relative of Tun Razak from his Pahang mother side. The father's side is related to Dato Harun and many other Selangorian leaders. But his father was not rich and merely a government officer.

By the time the body arrived, the whole school was glued to the television as the body arrived by the good ole MAS. The airline is another Tun Razak's work for the social reason to bridge East and West Malaysia.

We are fighting hard to defend it's continual existence and strategic role in nation building.

There was that the huge crowd of people from all walks of life and races awaiting and crying as the body was lowered out of the plane. Toh Puan Rahah and the family walked out from the plane.

At the burial, we could see our hostel friend on television at Makam Pahlawan together with the rest of Tun Razak's family and friends together with nation's leader of the time. All of us were excited to see our classmate came out on television.

There was no tears flowing from us because we didn't know how much it meant. But we were just stunt by the loss of this great man and leader. If it happened today, we would have shed our tears  openly.

Tun Razak made a great sacrifice by any man for his people and nation.

The more reason now that is known that he preferred to keep his terminal cancer disease a secret to enable himself to accomplish more work than continue to languish in bed.

Read about this selfless leader in Bigdog's article published on the NST here in KL Chronicles.

We had known of the story of Tun Razak's secret illness that led to his death from Tengku Razaleigh and his boys. There was no conspiracy as some opposition blogger wrote.

It was the movie Tanda Putera that made us realised and appreciated it more. It was made more significance by another sad and touching fact.

Before Tun Razak was to go for the CHOGM conference in Ottawa Canada, Tun Dr Ismail needed to inform him of his ailing heart condition and that he needed immediate surgery. At the same time, his wife Toh Puan Norashikin was also due to undergo an operation.

It turned out that Tun Razak was first to confide to inform Tun Dr Ismail of his own leukemia condition.

He said he does not have much time and need to clear out his work as much as possible and seek Tun Dr Ismail to help him and keep his disease a secret from everyone.

Toh Puan "Neno" went through her surgery while Tun Razak was away. It was also during that same time that Tun Dr Ismail had a heart attack at home and died immediately. He left at a time Tun Razak needed him most.

Our University mate and Tun Dr Ismail's son, Tarmizi was the one witnessing his father's last moment.

These moments was well displayed in the movie Tanda Putera that finally will find some breathing space for public viewing after ridiculous political insecurity of Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon and the vindictive nature of Dato Dr Rais Yatim.

By cancelling the dates twice and losing the promotional momentum twice despite it being fit for viewing, it still didn't save Barisan Nasional from the near absolute Chinese political boycott.

For that matter, Koh Tsu Koon himself could have voted for DAP.

After working and spending so much for the viewing meant for September 2012 and again for Novermber 15, Tanda Putera release was postphoned for political expediancy.

That does not auger well for program already put in place by FINAS to develop and promote the local movie industry with such indiscriminate interventions.

It made a mockery of the Prime Minister's commitment to develop the creative industry under the purview of the Ministry of Information, Multimedia and Communications and policy of self censorship by Home Ministry..

Tanda Putera was finally launched yesterday evening at GSC, Garden next to Megamall. After the viewing and during the PC compered FOC by Dato Mahadzir Lokman, Datin Paduka Shuhaimi Baba lashed out her frustration.

If only some member of the entertainment press had been more intelligent in their questions, the message of Tanda Putera is not about racism or Malay supremacy or stereotyping the Chinese but about the greatness of two leaders that we had and worthy to be emulated by other leaders.

That is the message that need to be expanded and promoted instead of asking questions with intentions to probe and make into an issue on the film re-editing to fulfill the political masters.

From someone, through various channels of opportunities, who saw the movie thrice, believe us that there was hardly much re-editing but merely retouching that made it better.

The racial slurs actually happened during May 13 incidents was still there.

The pissing at Menteri Besar's residence flagpole was there but there was no Lim Kit Siang. There was never in the first place

And there was incidents of Chinese killing Malays, Malay killing Chinese, Malay helping Chinese and Chinese helping Malays. There were humans behaving like animals and human still with some sense of humanity.

The message the entertainment media should understand is that the 15 minutes backdrop on May 13 was to to tell the public that it was a really bad moment in our history.

The excuse of raising the spectre of May 13 for political gain should never be used whenever May 13 is mentioned. It was a bad and defining moment in our history that should seriously not repeat again.

By the development of current event, it could recur if senses does not prevail and power craze is making everybody lose any sense of rationality.

Shumi must have put her foot down to insist that "No way Jose" will anyone interfere in a work which bears her name. Finas and Rais can say and threaten whatever but it is the director with the name on is the one having IP ownership.

Must be one fiesty women to stand up against the manipulative Rais.

The media should help the gallant effort of Shumi and her team to ensure as much Malaysian, supporters and critics, come to see before talking and commenting about the movie and made a mess of her work.

More corporation must come forward to contribute and encourage school children to come and see the movie and learn what great effort and sacrifice our past leader had been. It is their sacrifice that made the nation what it is today.

It help to encourage production of historical and intellectual content film. Too much silly love stories and action movies can be stunting on the public mind.

And today's leaders, including Tun Razak's son, Dato Najib, must learn from the significance of this momentous event.

Special tribute must be given to the cast because the characters played are not easy to emulate.

Rusdi Ramli was Tun Abdul Razak.

He made it known of the burden in acting the Tun Razak character as he realised the Prime Minister will be watching this movie about his father. He was only convinced that he could do it after balding his hair and realised he could emulate Tun Razak.

The lovely Faezah Elai was young Toh Puan Rahah, who was only made known of her husband's terminal disease in London at his death bed.

It was not easy to play out the character of a supportive wife of a leader and someone who was put in position to remain strong for the children so that Tun Razak was not be distracted by the family for his illness from continuing his work..

Zizan Nin looked twenty years more than his age to play Tun Dr Ismail, whose parent's home was near one of our Johor Baru.

There was not much past clipping of Tun Dr Ismail for Zizan to work on.

Linda Hashim was awesome in her depiction of the mother of six Toh Puan Norashikin. She is awesomely beautiful in person too.

There is also the friendly Kavita Sidhu as University Malaya's English tutor Kara. She kept appearing in the background at every defining moment of event but the lovely Kavita is no Forest Gump.

From 29th onward, take all your family member to the theater near you and watch Tanda Putera. Make the movie a success so that more will know the truth about May 13 then be deceived by imposters referring to foreign sources claiming to be an expert on May 13 event.

The international media and foreign embassy personnel were then kept at bay and cooped inside observing curfew like everyone else. Dr Kua Kia Soong was an absolute liar but Pak Lah administration's spinmaster Dato Kalimullah allowed the lies to prevail,

By making the success of the movie and promote it's message, it can subtlely tell all our leaders, ruling or opposition, that to be leaders, one must be responsible in one's actions, dedicated and commited in their work, and finally, willing to sacrifice for sake of people and nation.

Congratulation to Shumi... don't give up on historical movie. Here is McCartney for you:

The appeal court overturned the decision of the lower court to convict Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri and Corporal Sirul Azhar for the murder of Mongolian working girl Altantunya Shaaribuu seven years ago.

As we understood it, they had admitted to the police of their act and showed the investigating officer the site they blasted the victim's body to smithereens with C4 explosive.

It has already involved the court and for a capital crime like murder, any conviction will have to be beyond reasonable doubt. It's got nothing to do with the truth, only God knows, but case will be decided based on acceptable and presentable fact and evidences. Furthermore, it means that there must be no shred of doubts in the case fact and evidences.

Since this has become a politically explosive case, they will be rumour mongers creating political doubt on someone.

Malaysia court overturns police murder convictions

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP) –  A Malaysian court Friday overturned a 2009 murder conviction for two police officers in a scandal that fascinated the nation and saw critics try to draw a link to Prime Minister Najib Razak.

Azilah Hadri and Sirul Azhar Umar were convicted of the 2006 killing of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu, a 28-year-old model and interpreter at the centre of allegations of huge kickbacks in a government purchase of French submarines.

"Both the accused have been acquitted and discharged. They are free men now," defence lawyer Hazman Ahmad told AFP.

"Based on the evidence, justice has been done."

Prosecutors said the government would appeal the decision.

Government critics have long alleged that the two men, members of an elite police unit that guards top ministers, were the fall guys in the killing to hide the involvement of their masters at the highest levels of government.

The case stems from charges that Abdul Razak Baginda, a former close associate of Najib, arranged the kickbacks in the $1.1-billion purchase of French Scorpene submarines in 2002.

Najib was defence minister at the time.

Altantuya, who was then Abdul Razak's lover, had reportedly been involved in negotiations over the purchase.

Abdul Razak was later charged with abetting her murder by ordering the two officers to kill her after she allegedly harassed him for a cut of the kickbacks.

Abdul Razak, who is no relation to the prime minister, was acquitted in 2008.

The remains of Altantuya's body were found blown up with military-grade explosives in a jungle clearing near the capital Kuala Lumpur.

Najib has vehemently denied any involvement in the affair, but the corruption allegations have never been fully probed and whispers over the case have continued to dog him.

It was not immediately clear whether the men would be publicly available to comment in the extremely sensitive matter.

The decision triggered an immediate reaction on Malaysian social media, with many calling it part of a widely suspected conspiracy to free the men in return for their silence.

Sirul Azhar has been previously quoted telling a court that he was being "sacrificed" to protect others. But the men are not known to have implicated anyone else.
One legal weakness with the conviction against Azilah and Sirul has been the motive of murder. In a case like this, there has to be a complete set of information on the case to be legally acceptable. The criminal act or charge must be clearly stated together with the date and place.

Then, there must be a motive.

Good thing that we had other things more important to write, thus kept postphoning the Altantuya murder story. After all, since it is already undergoing the court process, let's just leave it to the courts. It is common for courts to make decisions for conviction, or acquital or conviction overturned.

Peliwat starting a rumour

And it is not uncommon for guilty ones to get away scot-free from conviction on technical grounds similar to the case of Anwar and his weird sexual preference to sodomise pretty young boys. This is despite Karpal Singh inferred acknowledging the act as a case of suka sama suka.

Before the appeal, NST reported the leagl team for Sirul and Azilah mentioned 10 grounds for their acquital:
25 June 2013| last updated at 12:34AM

Lawyers cite 10 grounds for acquittal of Sirul and Azilah

PUTRAJAYA: Two former policemen, who were convicted of murdering a Mongolian woman, have called on the Court of Appeal to set aside their conviction on grounds that the trial judge had erred in fact and law.

At the outset of yesterday's proceedings, lawyers for former special action unit personnel Sirul Azhar Omar and ex-chief inspector Azilah Hadri attacked High Court judge Datuk Mohd Zaki Mohd Yassin's judgment as they outlined 10 grounds to secure the freedom of their clients.

Lawyer J. Kuldeep Kumar submitted before a three-man bench headed by Datuk Seri Mohamad Apandi Ali that the mobile phone call log details of Azilah stated that his client was in Pekan Subang at 10.15pm on Oct 19, 2006. However, he said there was also an entry in a police station diary that Azilah was in Bukit Aman during the same period.

"Our argument is that we have raised a reasonable doubt in the prosecution's case."

Kuldeep said the trial judge did not direct his mind on the issue of alibi in considering whether Azilah was at the crime scene.

Another lawyer Datuk Azman Ahmad, who is also representing Azif, said his client did not offer information to the police which led investigators to the crime scene.

He said usually a suspect would lead police to the crime scene or to discover incriminating evidence.

Azman said Azilah was also not cautioned before he was taken to the crime scene.

The lawyer said Azilah could not have been in possession of C4 explosives as such explosives were not under the police inventory list. Evidence during trial revealed that the victim was shot and her body was disposed of with C4 explosives.

Sirul's lawyer Kamarul Hisham Kamaruddin said there was suppression of evidence when the prosecution failed to call DSP Musa Safri to testify with regard to an affidavit affirmed by political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda, the third accused who was acquitted of abetting Azilah and Sirul without his defence being called.

Azilah and Sirul were found guilty in 2009 of murdering Altantuya Shaariibuu at Mukim Bukit Raja in Shah Alam between 10pm on Oct 19, 2006, and 1am on Oct 20, 2006.

Deputy public prosecutor Datuk Tun Majid Tun Hamzah will submit today.
One of the idiots followng peliwat's cue

In a matter of minutes after the overturn decision, the opposition and pro-opposition bloggers are on their rumour mill.

Will they resurrect their old debunked and non-sensical accusation that the Prime Minister's wife is involved despite her being in a buka puasa function with orphans at the Tabung Haji building, and two alleged witness of the her shooting Altantunya made a statutory declaration to deny?

During the election, opposition dare not take the risk of a back-fire to make Rosmah an issue.

Then, will they come up with a new version of Najib's involvement to cover-up the based on an allegation that he was in co-hort with Abdul Razak Baginda in Scorpene?

Don't comment on anything to do with Scorpene in the story till you've read our series debunking the  Scorpene scandal.

Read about it when Jasbir Singh surfaced to speak up here. Jasbir said Najib did not know Altantunya.

Najib had repeatedly swear in the name of Allah that he does not know Altantunya. Mind the fact that Anwar dare not swear to deny he is the f*ck*r screwing the China-doll prostitute in the video made famous by Papagomo.

In the first place, why would all of them be involved and be stupid enough to murder Altantunya themselves?

Any bad person with power, money and influence will get a go-between to deal with hired guns to do any murdering without any traces of evidence to link back to them.

The questions the rumour mongers will try to do is to guess who really killed Altantunya and who made things up till everyone supposedly involved got away scot-free?

One will expect them to blame the Judge or Attorney General or Police for disallowing Musa Safri to be witness, or Azilah and Sirul to be on the stand, or Abdul Razak Baginda's acquital or Karpal Singh can't get a hard-on anymore.

The defense lawyers could be accused of cooperating in this conspiracy. Everyone including the Indon cleaning the toilets at the court could be accused for something or another.

No effort be spared to resurrect the body of Private Investigator Balasubramaniam and with the help of Gobind Singh and Malek Imtiaz to get the help of spectacular but weird Dr Pornthip from Thailand to talk to the dead.

Only thing the public should request before going back to another merry-go-round of who killed or cover-up is not to be like Rafizi Ramli to make slanderous accusations, then stupidly ask the reporters to investigate.

If anyone must make any accusation on murder, they should have their information complete and together with the story including motive, then make a police report and if only necessary, talk in public. By talking in public, it will mean they are not sincere to get the real guilty person behind bar but allow them to get away by spoiling the investigation by police.

Without complete information, one's reputation will slide like Rafizi and only idiot diehard refuse to acknowledge he will lose credibility and a matter of time, end his political career before it could get even get started for making too many out of court settlements like the one with Dato Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Nurul and Tony Pua, watch out too!

"MCA" burning the case, PMO just watch and see?

Someone told us that The Star's frontpage headline yesterday was "Who killed Altantunya?"

It is unfortunate that we can't find the image on the Internet, otherwise we would have used it instead of an image of Nero fiddling as he watch and see Rome burn to dust.

He felt MCA's own newspaper is trying hard to incite public anger on the issue. Knowing the party allegiance of those like June Wong, Leanne Goh, Wong Siah Ping, Martin Vendesan, Regina Lee, and many more [Read ... indeep tots here, Helen Ang here and The Unspinners here], it is only expected.

Our concern is more on: Will PMO still repeat the same old game 7 years ago of keeping quiet hoping that everything will quiet down, which it never did?

This one will not quiet down. [Read past posting here and Bigdog here.]

Altantuya murder case: More questions than answers

By TASHNY SUKUMARAN, RAHMAH GHAZALI, MICHELLE TAM, QISHIN TARIQ and VICTORIA BROWN

C/Insp Azilah Hadri (left) and Kpl Sirul Azhar Umar during the trial in 2009

PETALING JAYA: Seven years ago, a woman was murdered and her body blown up in an attempt to conceal the evidence.

Today, after a number of high-profile trials and acquittals, the truth behind the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu remains a mystery.

Altantuya Shaariibuu
The acquittal and release of Kpl Sirul Azhar Umar and C/Insp Azilah Hadri, the two former Special Action Unit Personnel members, who were found guilty and sentenced to death in 2009 for her murder, has raised calls for further inquiry into the Altantuya murder case.

"There should be an independent inquiry into the conduct of the prosecution in the Altantuya case," said DAP National Legal Bureau chairman Gobind Singh Deo in a statement.

"The Court of Appeal allowed the appeal of Sirul and Azilah citing, amongst other things, a failure on part of the prosecution to call a material witness, one DSP Musa Safri, a former aide de camp of the Prime Minister," he said.

Gobind claimed that not calling this witness resulted in their case collapsing.

"The Attorney-General and his team ought to have known that he was an important witness. They have vast experience in handling cases like these and they know for a fact that they would run a serious risk of having their case thrown out for failure of calling him," he said.

He said that it raised questions as to whether there had been "proper investigations and a proper presentation of evidence in court".

"We cannot allow these concerns to go unanswered. There must be an independent inquiry by people who are not associated with the AG's chambers to review the investigation papers and to report back as to the propriety of the conduct of the prosecution in this case," said the Puchong MP.

Deputy Solicitor General II Datuk Tun Abdul Majid Tun Hamzah who led the prosecution said that they would be appealing the Court of Appeal's judgement.

Another option to seek justice for Altantuya lies in the civil court.

Her father, Dr Setev Shaariibuu will pursue the RM100mil civil suit against the two officers acquitted of her murder, said his counsel Karpal Singh.

Karpal, who is holding a watching brief for Shaariibuu, said he will push for the suit to be heard as soon as the criminal case is settled in the Federal Court.

"I am writing to the Mongolian embassy, to whom I also represent," he said.

"I have not received instructions from Mr Setev. However, he is bound to contact me," said Karpal, added that he was sure Altantuya's father was aware of the outcome of the appeal.

Other news portals reported Setev had asked the Mongolian government to intervene in the matter, however, Bar Council president Christopher Leong believes there is nothing much that it can do.

"This is a criminal matter that is now within the purview of the courts, and there should not be any interference in the judicial process by any quarter," said Leong.

The case is clearly a polarising one, with some political implications.

Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz, in charge of legal affairs at the time of prosecution, declined to comment.

Tan Sri Musa Hassan, who was Inspector-General of Police at the time the case came to light, was equally tight-lipped, saying, "It's the court's decision. No comment is needed".

PKR vice-president and Padang Serai MP N.Surendran said the trial of Altantuya's killers "was a charade from the beginning".

"Now no one has been found guilty or punished for Altantuya's murder. Is this justice? It is a national embarrassment and failure of justice," the lawyer told The Star Online.

Azmi Sharom, a law professor, said the public had forgotten about the case but its ghost has risen again.

"There will be all these conspiracy theories coming up saying that the relevant authorities purposely did a bad job so that they can overturn the conviction.

"In a high-profile case like this, a lot of questions will be raised. Issues like why certain things weren't brought up in trial as well as questions about the standards of the prosecutor," he said.

Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, the former Minister in charge of legal affairs, posted several tweets on the acquittal.

One read: "I am disappointed with the Court of Appeal judges. Not for acquittal but for failing to order a retrial #fb".

"In the interest of justice, a balanced retrial would have been appropriate. Now it's not possible," said Zaid when contacted.

He said that if a retrial had been ordered, it would allow both sides to take another look at the case as "witnesses can be called again, to get justice".

"I think the decision to acquit those two puts an end to this case altogether. Under the double jeopardy law, they can't be tried for the same charges again," said Zaid.

According to him, the Court of Appeal in England can order a retrial as the law sets out certain circumstances allowing it.

"I believe the rules in Malaysia are the same. There should not be an acquittal when something seems to suggest that it's not right - in our case, there was a prior conviction," he said.

He said the Court of Appeal itself had pointed out several flaws in the earlier trial: unclear evidence, material discrepancies, and the failure to call key witnesses.

"Obviously, the prosecutor didn't do a proper job. At the same time, I think there was enough evidence to suggest the two were involved in some way. Otherwise, the first judge wouldn't have convicted them," he added.

To Leong, questions have been raised as to the conduct of the police investigations and the prosecution in this case.

"At the moment, it appears that no one is to be held accountable for Altantuya's murder. This case has left many questions unanswered. It begs the further question of 'Who does one turn to for justice in Malaysia when one's child is murdered?", he said.

Suaram secretariat member Cynthia Gabriel said the verdict raised more unanswered questions.

"The fundamental questions remain unanswered. No one has paid for her death, no one knows why she was killed and who gave the instruction to kill her," she said when contacted.

Gabriel said the only way for the public seek the truth was through an independent inquiry to determine the circumstances of the death.
Noticeable is that those quoted are only legal and opposition personalities.

An MCA-owned newspaper is trying to incite public anger and yet the National Communication Team seemed quiet. Those people linked to the NCT must be too sleepy from a full stomach from the Hari Raya Open Houses on top of the big payoff from the BN Manifesto mark-up scandal.

As far as PMO's media team, our worry is that like the last time the murder and Scorpene submarine scandal broke, they will just give a standard answer and instruct everybody to "playdown". They hope everyone will get tired and the case will quiet down naturally.

One will expect there will be that cliche style of arguing like this is a normal process of the court and the decision can only be a win or lose or overturn. There will be futile attempt to link it to Anwar's technical acquital on both his sodomy cases despite knowing the public and opposition will just ignore it.

Because of the playdown game they played, both cases was expanded into a slanderous accusation towards the Prime Minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.

Strangely, Prime Minister's Office staff still kept to the same playbook as though the opposition and public will get tired. That came at the expense of Rosmah's public image.

There must be numbnuts in the PMOs who was thinking that by letting the case be diverted to Rosmah, it would have saved Najib. The problem is that the opposition wanted to discredit Rosmah so that she can weigh down on Najib.

Too much involvement with Mount Everest expeditions, writing cartoon books, and decorating themselves with Pingat Kedaulatan Negara, instead of diligently serving the PM only makes a certain mediocre sekolah Melayu reporter more arrogant in their heightened mediocrity.

Never mind if they will advise the PM to ignore independent pro-BN bloggers. PM will not listen to such advise just like he doesn't believe that pro-BN bloggers was able to address 8 out of 10 issues raised by the opposition.

PM knows the guy was syok sendiri masturbating himself silly.

Only problem is PM had just extended the contract of a merchandiser for 1Malaysia slogan that failed miseraby in the last general election but now coming up with a new slogan "Endless Possibilities."

If he had bothered to google, he would have not landed himself in another controversy like APCO. He is now in a hot soup for the similarity of the slogan with Israel's slogan although it could be Mongolian. [Read Rocky Bru here]

Goodness sake, enough of sloganeering but work and action please. "Endless Possibilities" could be negatively interpreted as directionless and poor planning government. It fits in with the negative image and failure of PEMANDU.

This Dato is no political strategist but merely and A&P man.

Another way of describing is that he is a marketing man with no understanding of product development but only promote, promote and promote. MAS's former Managing Director, Dato Fuad Dahlan and many marketeers failed. Other marketing savvy personalities will fail as CEO and GLC CEO.

The guy was supposed to be the face and not the brain for a television station. When managing the television station, he was only known for Sure Heboh which was only a funfair concept. He moved up by bodek-ing the late former Prime Minister's wife.

It is heard that there is a suspicion that he made millions and now goes around in a Porsche by milking BN's campaign fund for the recent general election through the purchase of RM5 multi-colored T shirts at RM7 a piece.

He thought by confusing the public with his T shirt with colors similar to anti-Lynas, Royalti Minyak, Bersih and Blackout groups, it will neutralise their message. Oh bodoh ... one can only do that by being reacting fast whenever the opposition start to promote those colors.

He forgot that in the political campaign structure of BN, there are so many Chief and no Indians that nothing can get done fast. Not when there is a psychotic like JJ who thinks only his idea matter and will bulldoze down other ieas irrespective if it was a collective decision.

Political campaign cannot be run by a committee but to leave it to an able general to lead the army. He must exude confidence and command the respect and loyalty from his list of honest and able lieutenants to move the soldiers victoriously to the political battleground.

We know of one which have been whispered to a few leaders. Hopefully it happens after PAU or UMNO will be a piece of Pau Ahmad.

As far as those at PMO, work with the PM and not for themselves!

The Mole article today reads Chinese should watch Tanda Putera, don't be fooled by Tony Pua. which links to a Malay article on The Unspinners here.

There is a nice rhyming in that title between Putera and Pua.

Tony Pua was trying to act like a citizen concerned that the film Tanda Putera will raise inter-racial tension. He was never concerned when the Lim was provoking the Malays' sensitivity.

If he is concerned, why he didn't warned his fellow DAP members from trying to turn the recent police actions to address organised crime into a racial issue of Malay versus Indian?

Tony Pua and many others are trying hard to get the public to not attend the movie Tanda Putera as though their political fortune rests on it.

As Datin Paduka Shuhaimi Baba's message at the relaunching of the film, "don't comment till you've seen it." Quite sure Tony Pua have not seen it.

Suddenly, Kit Siang is concerned with inflammatory comments that heighten racial tension?

Lim Kit Siang, whose blog was on a roll in his criticism of the acquital of the two policemen in the Altantunya murder, suddenly went two postings in a row on Tanda Putera.

First, he tried to make a big deal over was Datin Paduka Shuhaimi Baba's statement that it is a fiction story based on history. Not an unusual practise in moviemaking to create a scene to emphasis on a certain point.

That spin was created by The Malaysian Insider's and Malaysiakini. They twisted Shumi's words that Tanda Putera was based on historical fact as background to Tanda Putera is based on fiction.

Both this opposition backing portal was turned down for a request for an interview by Shumi. Her condition for an interview with them was for them to watch the movie first. Now they are getting even for being turned down.

Shumi had also challenged both the portals to invite DAP supporters to see the film first. If both of them have no guts and transparency to say so, then we wish to highlight her request that DAP supporters and those who fear so much this film to please be brave and see it for themselves.

Looks like Kit Siang is not brave enough to accept this women's challenge because he had subsequently, repeated his previous concern before the general election on the pissing scene in which the urban legend in Kampong baru, Kuala Lumpur is that he is the person.

There are books that wrote about this pissing incident. It was an interesting scene to depict the animosity created by subversive elements that common people can be so rude to the elected leaders.

However, Shumi had taken necessary precaution as to not potray the perpatrator as Lim Kit Siang but was done by some mischievous boys. The scene was consequently shortened from the originally planned version as per the finding from of focus groups.

But, why is Lim Kit Siang worried over a fictional scene that does not mention his name?

He goes to the extend of describing it as "the height of criminal and anti-national irresponsibility for anyone to concoct the spurious urination incident as one of the purported causes provoking the May 13, 1969 riots, especially in a film funded with taxpayers’ money, when it is completely fictional with no factual basis in any historical material, whether documentation or photographic."

Height of criminal and anti-national irresponsiblity? What a way to describe irresponsiblity?

Unless he is guilty of actually doing it because it took him a long time to anwer an allegation by then Member of Parliament for Kulim Bandar Baru, Dato Zulkifli Nordin in the previous parliament, there is no reason for him to get paranoid. .

Don't overdo thingsla, Kit Siang. This is only a fictional movie, so why get upset?

The urination was not depicted as the cause of May 13, 1969 but merely as part of the provocation that arise from the anger incited by the actions of subversive elements that was at large within the Chinese community then.

Itu la ... as Shumi's message to everyone, "don't comment till you've seen it."

Then there is this message being spread by one Samc Chen from August 22nd, 2013.

It is translated as:
I hereby urge all friends to join with us together to boycott the film Tanda Putera which is clearly promoting racist culture and creating hatred against a certain community.

Let us share together in our respective Wall (in Facebook) so that the whole community boycott this film,

Do not allow this film with racist intonation be watched and get public reception in order to avoid unrest in the community.

The film being given the film Tanda Putera is supposedly to boost the spirit of patriotism among the people. It is supposed to be based on history, but the history adopted was actually modified to meet the political interest of a certain party.

The backdrop of the film based on the 513 story was cunningly manipulated to change the real history of the country and lead to further hatred and racial unrest.

Prior to the last general election, the film was screened informally to community and university students. According to individuals who have watched the film, the Chinese supposedly started the bloody incidents of the Malay people.

One of the deadliest incidents alleged to have occurred was a scene in a cinema in which chinese writings appeared on the screen that reads "chinese people immediately leave the stage" and suddenly, the chinese people flocked to leave the stage. While the Malays, who do not understand the writing did not take a similar action, thus were brutally murdered in the theater.
This is also a case of nitpickingand not well rationalised arguments from someone who has not seen the movie but is built on the opinion of others.

If he had actually seen the film, he should realise that the film Tanda Putera was clear and concise in their potrayal of subversive elements, specifically the communist for inciting racial tension between Malays and Chinese.

To claim the film intention is to promote racial tension and disharmony, it shows immaturity and an intellectually challenged individual.

May 13 merely provide the backdrop to understand the big challenges the two great leaders Tun Abdul Razak and Tun Dr Ismail had to face while they themselves were facing personal challenges on their own illness.

The strong challenge being put up by these few people only shows the insecurity of these people to the fact that the truth will soon prevail and lies that have been promoted by the book May 13 as written by Dr Kua Kia Soong will end.

In his book, Dr Kua had sourced information from fiction and rumors by foreign journalists and  diplomats.

The fact to the matter as highlighted in this film advised by former Inspector general of Police, Tun Hanif Omar and son of Tun Dr Ismail, Tawfik Ismail is that the foreigners were confined to their homes and hotel rooms, thus impossible to get any information on any May 13 incidents.

In one scene, foreign diplomats were hammered by Tun Dr Ismail for spreading information that don't tally.

The cinema massacre or any other major scene would not have been depicted if it is not true or there is no record of such event mentioned.

So just stop making a fool of themselves, don't comment before you've seen it. Tanda Putera will begin public screening at a theatre near you from August 29th onward.

Beginning of the end for Anwar in Sabah

When Dato Lajim Ukin left BN to join Pakatan Rakyat coalition in Sabah in July 2012, we wrote Lajim's planned departure hardly left a dent. That was at a time when Anwar was trying to pull off another 916 to draw out BN's Sabah politicians into Pakatan Rakyat.

We had confidence with the Aman brothers which we described elder brother Dato Musa Aman as politically shrewd that one an call him as Yahudi Melayu Terakhir when it comes to Sabah politics. [Read it in April 2012 posting here].

The Lahad Datu incident may have helped boost patriotism and BN but even when the RCI was on-going, we were confident it will open Anwar's Pandora box instead of hurting Tun Dr Mahathir's legacy and BN's Sabah politics. [Read it here.]

True enough, Lajim could not defend his Beaufort parliamentary seat.

And, he may not be able to hold to his Klias state assembly seat since High Court accepted BN's petition. [Read Anwar Ibrahim bitching about it here.] Anwar knows that his days in Sabah are numbered.

The latest development is beginning of the end for PKR in Sabah. Sabah's Daily Express has the story today:

Four Sabah PKR reps protest

Published on: Monday, August 26, 2013

Kota Kinabalu: The appointment of Sabah opposition chief Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin as the State's Parti Keadilan Rakyat chief by PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has not gone down well with some party members, particularly four Sabah PKR State Assembly members Matunggong Assemblyman, Jelani Hamdan, said while they respect the decision by Anwar to appoint Lajim, who is believed to have joined the PKR only recently, they are dissatisfied that they were not consulted for their views.

According to him, he and three other PKR elected representatives - Terrence Siambun (Moyog), Jeremy Malajad (Kadamaian) and Christina Liew (Api-Api) - had handed over the proposals to both Anwar and Lajim regarding certain issues.

"If these proposals are not considered, we will not be accepting any positions in any committees or within the party," he said, Sunday.

He also said that they might be emulating the approach by counterpart Assemblyman for Luyang (DAP), Hiew King Cheu, in relinquishing all their current positions in the party.

Although they would not be taking any drastic action such as ditching the party, he said, they would not be involved in any party activities if Anwar and Lajim do not consider their proposals.

The proposals, he said, which have been agreed to by Sabah PKR assemblymen, were given to Anwar during PKR-held Hari Raya Open House in a hotel here last month.

"Lajim knew about the proposals because we also gave him a copy," he said.

Nevertheless, the four elected representatives will wait for the appointment of the Sabah PKR Leaders' Council before making the next move.

"We will wait who Laijm will appoint into the council and also whether he will consider and respect our proposals," said Jelani.

He said Lajim replaced former Sabah PKR chief, Ahmad Thamrin Jaini, following the petition by about 16 or 17 division heads or acting heads for Thamrin to be ousted.

"Probably they wanted a new face (to lead Sabah PKR)," he said.

He voiced concern that there would be "casualty" in Sabah PKR similar to when Lajim was appointed as Sabah opposition chief.

He cited Hiew as the "casualty" for supporting Tamparuli Assemblyman, Datuk Seri Wilfred Bumburing as the state's opposition chief.

Anwar said Lajim's appointment as Sabah PKR chief has been endorsed by the party's Supreme Council.
Before this, PKR was struggling to stabilise and unite the party following poor appointment of Ahmad Thamrin Jaini as PKR Liaison Chief for Sabah by Azmin Ali. That resulted in Dato Dr Jeffrey Kitingan leaving PKR to established his party, STAR.

Prior to the general election, PKR Tuaran Chief and member of PKR for 14 years, Anseri Abdullah left PKR following his Tuaran area was given to Dato Wilfred Bumburiang to contest. [Read FMT's april report here and AIDC here]

At around the general election time, we said 16-17 of the PKR cabang would close shop.[The link to find] In all likelihood, the time maybe now. With the upcoming UMNO party election and Sabah Liaison Chief, Dato Musa Aman is running for Vice President, it can't be any better.

Already, one Dato Akbar Khan Abdul Rahman from his own Division of Libaran is urging him not to contest on the pretext that he is merely a state level leader and has to emulate other state Menteri Besar and Ketua Menteri to focus on the state and not deny Sabah another seat.

However Akbar Khan is linked to a desperate Dato Hishamuddin Hussein Onn and Akbar's son Firdaus Khan is said to be a runner for Dato Shapie Apdal, an incumbent Vice President most susceptible to get knocked off for his many misadventures.

Let's just leave UMNO election to UMNO members and their games.

If Musa wants to make it, he must be beyond a Sabahan whose seldom to engrossed with Sabah politics that they have no consideration for happenings at the national and international level.

Younger brother Dato Anifah Aman is more qualified in that aspect but he is believed to be too busy with an international assignment abroad.

The beginiing of the end for PKR in Sabah will mean the beginning of the end for Anwar in Sabah. He forgot that the Sabhaan can never forget what he had done to Sabahan and their leaders.

One man must be waiting to laughing himself silly for having had his more than 15 years revenge and tarred Anwar out of Sabah.

Husam's fury with Murphy

$

Murphy's law states that "Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong".

When his luck ran out, anything that can possibly go wrong to Dato Husam Musa, does go wrong. He is now in a foul mood with Murphy and we are only too pleased to see him be taught a lesson in humility.

Already, the PAS assemblyman for Salor turned down offers from Kelantan Mentri Besar, Dato Ahmad Yaacob for chairmanship of two state-owned companies.

This is giving a picture that all is not well between him and the state government.

Husam was not appointed as a state exco member although he had proven himself and tipped to be the Mentri Besar upon former MB Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat’s stepping down.

One of the reason was the rejection from the palace. The letter of the rejection is making it's round online. It only fuel his anger futher.

Since after the May 5 general election, Husam has been in the ‘war mood’ as he was sidelined and considered as ‘dumped’ by the new MB when he was not picked as an exco member, a position he held under Nik Aziz’s tenure as MB where he was a trusted ally and given the finance portfolio.

Known for his smartness in filling up the party’s coffer and even the state, Husam is known for his alignment with Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto chief Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and has been closely following all events Anwar leads without fail.

He had even came out with an edict (fatwa) that those who joined the Black Out 505 rally and died in the cause was considered to die as a martyr or died of jihad.

Such is his loyalty to Anwar that the veteran fundamentalist in the party get ‘jittery’ and the obvious thing the veterans would do is to ‘cut him off’ from the leadership line-up to stop the ‘cancer’ from spreading.

With just three months to go for the party assembly when election to the leadership is scheduled, Husam may not let his ‘goal’ slip away as he made much inroads in trying to stay afloat and align the party to PKR.

Husam had managed to get Nik Aziz to support PKR and DAP and he is considered as the ‘glue’ in the relationship between the party and the others in the Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

When PAS leadership decided to stay away from the Black Out 55 rally, Husam and those aligned to Anwar who included deputy president Mohamed Sabu and several others had influenced the leadership to ‘be together’ in the final rally.

But, the response from PAS members were not encouraging despite the leadership gave the greenlight ‘only for the grand finale’ at Padang Merbok, Kuala Lumpur.

At the Kuala Besut by-election, Husam was the Pakatan Rakyat Election Director and one can visibly see the anomosity between Husam and president Dato Abdul Hadi Awang as his proxy, PKR Youth openly refused to cooperate with PAS and announced their lawsuit against Hadi.

Again, Murphy's law was in play.

The by-election that was to lift Husam's profile in the party did not worked out as planned. Husam himself fell to Dato Idris Jusoh's psywar to accept teh election Director post and chose a candidate from his men that bungled his chances by shooting his own mouth.

Given such background and the ‘under current feud’ between the two factions, the coming party poll is expected to be wild and interesting as the veteran fundamentalists attempt to take control of the party while Husam and friends attempt to unseat them.

The November assembly will determine PAS future as the veteran fundamentalists including party president Hadi attempts to gain control of the party against the onslaught of the so-called young and intellectuals.

However, Husam must end his fury with Murphy or Murphy's law will continue to haunt him into his retirement.

Pre-Merdeka history for the foolish, dumb and blind

Merdeka Day is coming.

While tomorrow is Tanda Putera's premier, there is a group organising a public forum entitled Merdeka 100%: Sejarah yang digelapkan.

One will expect names such as Kesatuan Melayu Muda (KMM), Parti Kebangsaan Melayu Malaya (PKMM), their youth wing, Angkatan Pemuda Insaf (API) and woman wing, Angkatan Wanita Sedar (AWAS) together with Parti Komunis Malaya (PKM) being bandied around conveniently with ill intentions.

It will be nothing more than an over-simplified, melancholic, and spinned version of history by a group described by blogger Desaru With Love here as "bebal, tuli dan buta sejarah" (foolish, dumb and blind on history).

Myth of Freedom Fighters

These fringe groups of youth have been parading a strange looking flag, which looks neither Indonesian nor Singaporean, as alternative flag of Malaysia on the eve of Merdeka for the last few years.

Last year, it went violent as pictures of the Prime Ministers was stepped on.

Such symbol of stars on a red and white flag have never existed anywhere in Malayan or Indonesian history. What reversion are they talking about?

The flag issue have been debunked at length from the year it first appeared in 2011. Goggle for it.

These fringe youth groups are claiming Malaysian history is lop-sided and written to suit the victor, as the saying goes. In fact, there is an underground movement calling for the rewriting of history in line with the rewriting of the constitution.

While the history is clear that UMNO played a crucial role in getting the public to rally for Independence and negotiate with the various stakeholders, these groups wants to claim that the real fighter for independence are the communist.

How could they when they have no locus standi to claim independence?

The history and arguments against communist claim as independence fighter was debunked when Mat Sabu made it an issue to glorify Mat Indera and Chin Peng. Goggle it because we are not going back to that arguments.

Actually, we were not technically colonised but more accurately, out-sourced the role of his highnesses government to the British by treaty at gunpoint or voluntarily.

We were looking for the solution to end those treaties with the British that started with Pangkor Treaty of 1874. The existense of large numbers of immigrants complicate matters.

UMNO was collaborating with the colonial British, they claim. Thus, UMNO is not true Malay nationalist but perpetuate Malay aristocrasy. The true nationalist were PKMM. Unfortunately, they see communist as patriots.

True that the communist were the first to call for independence but the communist members were not citizens of Malaya. They wanted to be in power upon the surrender of Japan but did not get the local majority support.

The communist was established as freedom fighter by a covert British operation. Bintang Tiga or Malayan People Anti-Japanese Army (MPAJA) went on the rampage to kill non communist rakyat, especially Malays and even forcibly entered palaces with intention to kill the rulers and assume power.

They were not seeking for independence but double cross the British and took control of government in that 14 days vacuum of power between the departure of Japanese and return of British.

Those who underwent through that trying period saw another side to the Bintang Tiga. Not as freedom fighters or seeking for independence or terrorist but was Chinese power domination at work. The ideological content was merely temporary convenience.

Radical nationalists

First thing about discussing history, it should is not opinionated but describing the events factually. It is in the review that one can give a substantiated opinion.

In June 1971, Tun Dr Ismail gave acknowledgement to the "Malay Left" when receiving his honorary doctorate in law from Universiti Sains Malaysia.

Extracted from Firdaus Abdullah's 1985 book, "Radical Malay Politics", he said:
Freedom fighters in those years were divided into two groups. One group believed that freedom could only be achieved through revolutionary means, whereas the other group believed in the constitutional process.

British colonialists had two alternatives, namely, either to agree to granting independence to the moderate group or to take firm action in a continuously combative manner in the face of armed struggle.

The British decided to concede to the nationalist group which chose the constitutional path and possessed the basis for compromise with other ethnic communities in this country.

It is true that independence was achieved by the moderate group, but history has also shown that the radical nationalist group also made its contribution towards the achievement of independence."
We remembered Prof Dato Firdaus Abdullah work because we met him in New York in 1981 when he was doing his doctorate at Yale University.

Back then, we were pissed that he came to our organised conference with his paper untyped and we had to help prepare, type and print his paper in the wee hour of the morning.

Met him again yesterday at a Conference.

Some of the event mentioned by these fringe groups have some truth but it does not enforce the counterclaim in favour of KMM, PKMM or AWAS. These groups are not as they claim themselves to be.

While the claim that UMNO collaborate with British is true, the "radical nationalists" as described by Prof. Firdaus received favorable Japanese treatment from the Japanese Military Authority during their World War II occupation of Malaya.

At the same time, "the radical nationalist" came into being with support from the communists. Some are actually communists by idealogy like Mokhtaruddin Lasso and some were just anti-British like Ahmad Boestamam.

For years, the "radical nationalists" had wanted to deny their communist link, but Chin Peng himself acknowledge in his book, "My Side of History" that PKMM was borne out of the Communist Party of Malaya.

They are against the British, but they were received favourably by the Japanese, and at the same time, they are affiliated with the Communist that was borne by the British.

During Independence, these people were opposing and still up in arms against the the legitimately empowered by Constitutional and elected government.

Then came the idea of coalition with the Indonesian, Ibrahim Yaacob, the PKMM leader was willing to be an inferior partner to the Indonesian in Melayu Raya or Indonesia Raya.

Where is their sense of Independence?

UMNO can be accused as working with the colonial master but their rational was that the other option of working with the communist was unacceptable. Their approach was to get a peaceful independence.

Independence was achieved with compromise and not acceptance with the various ethnic groups, so there are bargaining and give and take. Many forgot that UMNO was then accused by PAS as working with Chinese and today they are working with DAP and trying hard to label UMNO as racists.

Political Opportunist Ibrahim Yaacob

Ibrahim and PKMM were together to form the UMNO to fight against Malayan Union in 1945 but they left when UMNO decided to take it a step at a time to unite the Malays before pursuing for independence.

At the time, state parochialism was strong amongst the Malays. Everybody was as parochial as the Kelantanis of today.

UMNO managed to drum up support and the unite the Malays that the militarily strong British abort their Malayan Union plan. Ibrahim was just not able to do so because as Prof Ramlah Adam wrote in her 2002 book, "Sumbangan dikenang":

Beliau menjadi seorang pemimpin propenjajah Jepun.
He was no different from the other pro-British Malay aristocrats.

In a trip to Japan in July 1943, Ibrahim brought along few aristocrats and royalties. They are the very people that he described as oppressor of the Malays.

Ibrahim potrayed himself as anti-feudel but he named royalties and aristocrats as members of a shadow government for his 1945 initiative under an organisation called Kesatuan Rakyat Indonesia Semenanjung (KRIS).

Ibrahim was lost in his allegiance to his Sulawesi homeland and admiration for Indonesian President Sukarno. His grand idea for Melayu Raya would have replaced the British colonial with another colonialists. He was not seeking for independence.

Pro Malayan Union

Prof Ramlah had referred to the works of Ahmad Boestamam and his son, Rustam Sani in her book. We remembered meeting Rustam in that New York conference in 1981.

Another point worthy of mentioning is the attempt by PKMM to work with the British by giving support to Malayan Union. Prof Ramlah wrote:
PKMM tried to stab back at UMNO but their past with the Japanese and PKM returned to haunted them.

Subsequently, they formed a coalition with AMCJA to form PUTERA. They issued a People's Constitution, which is being promoted by Dr Kua Kia Soong and perhaps MyConsti group, to match the Federation Agreement of 1948. Prof Ramlah wrote:

He failed to realise that Malaya through the states were legitimate and bonafide entities and the 1948 agreement corrected that misconception that arise from Malayan Union. He basically dismissed the sovereign status of the states and was ready to concede to form a new nation.

Nationalism of Onn Jaafar

It would be expected that these fringe groups of young people would try to claim the history of Dato Onn Jaafar in their favour. He was instrumental in initiating UMNO and was the first YDP of UMNO but abandoned it to pursue multi-racial party politics.

In the 1952 Kuala Lumpur council election, Dato Onn-led Independent Malayan Party (IMP) could only win two seats. MCA had formed a coalition with UMNO and it turned out voctorius. That formed the basis of cooperation and power sharing that is BN today. Prof Ramlah wrote:
The Chinese wanted unconditional jus soli citizenship, rejected use of Malay and English as national language and language in school, and demanded a Chinese University and Chinese army. Dato Onn rejected to all their requests and Tan Cheng Lock and MCA view him still as a Malay despite IMP's slogan "Sama rata. keadilan dan  kebebasan" (equlity, justice and freedom).

At the 1955 election, Dato Onn returned to his true self. Prof Ramlah wrote:

He viewed UMNO has deviated from their struggle against Malayan Union of 1946. Yes, UMNO had to concede something in order to gain something else. Did UMNO do the right thing to accept one million Chinese and Indians as citizen?

Before someone try to raise issue of Indonesian migrants to Malaya, over time all Indonesian migrants were accepted as subject of the Malay rulers. They were accepted by the sovereign as subjects.

To correct Dato Onn, there was a condition for the citizenship.

They have to accept Malay as national language, Islam as religion of the federation (not official and ceremonial religion), accept the Malay rulers, special right of Malays and eventually all Bumiputera, and most importantly, adhere to the Constitution.

Lesson

History always repeats itself. If one bother to ponder, some events are repeating itself.

One thing that these bits and pieces of history should teach all of us. Change in Malaysia must take approach which are moderate and not drastic, evolutionary and not revolutionary, and inclusivity must never exclude the majority race.

In his conclusion, Prof Firdaus acknowledged the seldom leveled accusation made agaianst UMNO:
... the inherent weakness of Malay opposition forces in present day Malaysian politics was rooted in its historical development which was plagued by suppression and suppression since colonial days.

Nevertheless, one problem with opposition politics in the past is the incohesiveness in their ideology, program and organisational structure. It leads to another point from Prof Firdaus:
Even when political opposition has little organisational strength it does not serve as an interest articulator bu such means as convening meetings and conferences wherein the needs and aspiration of the general masses are articulated, made known to, and may be acted upon by the governing authorities.
That is for those in power to relook.

As far as those fringe groups of youth, there is more from where it came from. So careful boys before you make any claims.

PEMANDU's self-praise to milk government

$

The attack toward PEMANDU as responsible for the poor performance of Barisan Nasional in the recent General Election was not taken lying down by them.

The Choice [read here] claimed the policy and program generated by PEMANDU is working and should continue. They are the only portal defending PEMANDU but it sounds like only PEMANDU praising themselves.

None had defended PEMANDU in the Internet since most pro-UMNO bloggers are aware of the game played by Omar Ong in helping put Pakatan Rakyat's campaign. Blog Gelagat Anwar warned in August 2011 here.

One source informed us that the feedbback effort to maintain their existence is actually an effort to form a high level Committee formed by PEMANDU to advise the Cabinet. It would mean that the cabinet will be reduced to a mere stamping office to endorse PEMANDU's recomendation or more accurately, instruction.

Indication as the report below:

Transformation Work Comes in Two Waves

The Star Online, Monday June 10, 2013
I ALWAYS look at transformation work coming in two “waves” of activities.
The first wave involves a lot of intervention work, which is required to deliver big fast results. I call this the intervention wave.
The Performance Management and Delivery Unit (Pemandu)'s role is deliberately interventionist in our approach. This includes introducing specific changes in strategy, action programmes and whatever it takes (including changes in processes, procedures, systems, etc) in order to deliver the desired results and outcomes.
Examples of intervention work introduced by Pemandu are the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) and Government Transformation Programme (GTP) Roadmaps, labs, Open Days, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Weekly Dashboard and Problem-solving Meetings, National Key Economic Area (NKEA) and National Key Result Area (NKRA) prioritisation, Steering Committees, external and international validation by experts and transparent Annual Reports to the public.
The second is the sustainability wave of activities. This involves building capacity and capability so that the organisation can continue the work without any need for intervention.
This entails instilling the right leadership capability, organisational culture and competence development. Done over a sufficient period of time leveraging on certain processes, then the organisation is truly equipped with the ability to sustain the transformation on its own. No longer will it need “external intervention”.
The organisation will and can adapt, change and re-invent itself in the face of external pressures.
Having spent the first four years on the intervention waves, Malaysia will now be introducing the sustainability waves of transformational activities. This does not mean we stop abruptly the intervention work but rather, we add the sustainability agenda on top of the interventional work. As the sustainability work matures, the intervention work reduces and gradually ceases over a period of time.

That way it serves one purpose and that is to continue to milk the Government.

Malaysiakini and FMT may be an opposition portal but they share our common concern.

When it was established, RM36 million was spent to McKinsey and Company. Read Regina Lee writing for Malaysiakini in 2010 here from Kit Siang's blog. Who doesn't know who she works for now?

It continues to extra more money through consultancy fees and labs.  Read the FMT report below:

  • Cost for NKEA labs 'exorbitant'

  • By Syed Jaymal Zahiid
KUALA LUMPUR: The consultation fees for the entire Selangor economic blueprint cost just a fraction of what the Performance Management and Delivery Unit (Pemandu) had spent on just one of the 12 national key economic area (NKEA) labs, claimed prominent independent analyst Ong Kian Ming.
Ong, one of the consultants working closely with Pemandu for the education cluster in one of the NKEA labs, told FMT that the entire consultation cost for the 12 labs by the Najib administration was close to RM23 million, exorbitant when compared to the fees paid by the Selangor government for the state's economic blueprint.

"This whole exercise, in terms of the consultants' fees (independent poll centre Merdeka Centre and myself), will cost the Selangor government RM120,000, slightly more than 5% of an NKEA lab," he said, adding that one NKEA lab alone cost the government about RM2 million in terms of consultation fees.

"Will the end product be as 'good' as an NKEA lab? I cannot be the judge of that since the (economic) blueprint has not been written.

"But I think it will be at least on par if not better than an NKEA lab because of Merdeka Centre's experience in dealing with political issues and gauging what implementation plans can be more easily 'sold' and implemented and because of my own experience as a consultant, academic and political analyst," he said.

Ong is also one of the consultants hired by the Selangor government for its economic blueprint.

    Staff shortage for NKEA labs
It is learnt that Pemandu, led by Minister in the Prime Minister Department Idris Jala, had to organise and run the NKEA labs at short notice. Most of the staff involved with the NKEA projects are those also working on the National Key Results Areas (NKRAs), another aspect of the Najib administration's reform efforts.

This had forced the outfit to rely heavily on external international consultants which included McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group and Ethos, with McKinsey leading the group and spearheading four labs. The rest are spread among the firms.

"If the existing Pemandu staff were not doing the NKRAs and perhaps had more consulting type experience, they probably would have been able to manage the NKEAs by themselves, without the help of external consultants.

"But because of the short time frame involved, they had to rely on the consultants... as a taxpayer, I would obviously not be happy with the amount of money spent on the consultants. As a consultant myself, I know that it could be done at a much cheaper rate. The Selangor blueprint is proof of this," said Ong.

Given that the overall cost of the NKEA labs are kept under the Official Secrets Act, FMT was told by sources that Pakatan Rakyat MPs will be seeking clarification on the matter when Parliament convenes mid-October.

    Vision 2020 may not materialise

The NKEA labs were conducted to find ways to boost the economy of which the outcome was the identification of 131 entry point projects that the government claim can mobilise more than a RM1 trillion in private investments needed to realise the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP).

The ETP is one of the key programmes crafted by the Najib administration to realise Malaysia's developed nation status in 10 years although various leaders, including former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad, believe that Vision 2020 is doomed to fail.

Some of the projects identified are infrastructural, such as the KL mass transit system, the high-speed rail system to Singapore and Penang and the construction of a huge oil storage facility next to Singapore.

Despite widespread scepticism that the private sector would respond, 60% of the identified investments worth RM1.4 trillion would come from the private sector, 32% from government-linked companies and 8% from the government.
  • There was a source that wrote a critical review of PEMANDU but somehow or rather, PEMANDU may bought over the website and changed the content.

For all the money spent, what have PEMANDU delivered? For a start, talk is RAPID Pengerang will be postphoned. There is many more screw-ups.

Here is a view of a "staff" member of MIER:

PEMANDU has done a lot to promote Najib’s Transformation agenda. But what has it really achieved apart from talk and spin by Minister Idris Jala?
There is a huge gap between rhetoric and reality. ETP is all talk. If  we judge Jala by results, PEMANDU is a failure. It should, therefore, be disbanded.

In the past, we have relied on professionals in the Economic Planning Unit, Prime Minister’s Department, to do the job and they did a very credible job, judging from what was accomplished in terms of economic growth and development.
What can PEMANDU and its external consultants do that the EPU cannot do better in terms of dealing with macro economic challenges we face today?
EPU should be asked to get the job done.
More on PEMANDU failure and screw-ups.

    Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!
